Optronics STL72RB Oval Sealed LED Tail Light Diagram

Sonically Sealed, Waterproof Trailer Light

The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The housing and lens are sonically sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light and damage the diodes or circuit board.

Recessed-Mount Light

Recessed mount light

Recessed-mount trailer lights install underneath a grommet (A70GB - sold separately). These lights will extend into the mounting surface and require that a hole be cut into your trailer.

I purchased $XX worth of led lights 6 marker lights and 2 ovals. The marker light had a protective wrapper and showed up pristine condition, however both ovals were thrown in the box with no protective wrapper the clear oval has a scratch but is still in good condition the red oval has scratches all over it to the point it looks used. Pretty Sad. Wish I could off included photos but it was hard to see the scratches In the picture my camera isn't the greatest.

I am sorry that they arrived in this condition. Let me get you over to our customer service department for them to get some replacements sent out to you.

I had to replace one burned tail light on my 2005 cargo trailer. I bought two and replace the other one as well. They work perfectly. The size and the 3 pins connction are the same as the original. A little downside is regarding the packaging. I would expect each light wrapped individualy to avoid the rattling in the box. See pics.

I have a Haulmark utility trailer. One tail light was giving me trouble and I tried fixing it but decided to just replace it with these. They are brighter and fit right in to the old grommet. They were a bit loose so I wrapped some e-tape around them and they are staying in place just fine. I also ordered the pigtails and soldered and heat-shrinked the connections - the factory connecting were "scotch-locks", which I hate. After I did this, I looked closely at the old lights and realized that there was a 3 prong plug which I might have been able to use rather than doing new connections and soldering them, but by doing what I did, I now have tight connections and I can easily replace the light if I ever have to (I got rid of the scotch locks). Yes, I could maybe have soldered the old connections and used the old plug, but it was constructed in such a way that I didn't realize it was there (I thought it was part of the light body). My picture shows the old light and the old plug disconnected from it and the new LED in place on my trailer. It works great - glad I did this. It's much brighter than the old light.

by:

Needed these lights for one of our cargo trailers. I had a rear light go out, and these units are sealed... You can't buy just a replacement bulb. They fit perfectly, and are bright and reliable. Customer service was amazing, quick delivery. I'm a contractor, with 6 of these large cargo trailers, and using these LED replacement lights is the only way to go. They never burn out! Love Etrailer.

  • Can I Upgrade The Lights On Trailer To Optronics Trailer LED Light # STL72RB And Use Existing Plug
You can upgrade and use the existing plug if the Kaper lights are the same size as the Optronics Sealed, 6-1/2 Inch Oval LED Trailer Stop, Turn and Tail Light, part # STL72RB and will use a three prong plug like the Optronics Straight 3-Wire Pigtail for Sealed Trailer Stop, Turn and Tail Lights, part # A45PB. The Optronics light will also use the Optronics Rubber Grommet for 6-1/2 Inch Oval Trailer Tail Lights, part # A70GB, for a flush mounted application.

  • Troubleshooting Excessive Trailer Tire Wear
The first place I would look is at the suspension components of your trailer. Worn out suspension can cause tires to wear strange. You could jack up your trailer (use jackstands) and get underneath your trailer and see if you can find any movement in your suspension components. While the trailer is jacked up also try and spin the wheels of the trailer. They should spin freely by hand but you should feel a light drag from the brake assemblies. If this drag isn't present the assemblies might...

If your turn signal is not working but the other lights are, it could mean a replacement bulb is needed, though to verify you will want to test the light with Circuit Tester # PTW2979. If the signals are getting through you will need a new bulb, otherwise it could be the wiring or a replacement light is needed. If you directly power the # STL72RB with your 18V battery it will damage the lights. However, you can use the battery if you get a step down converter. These are not something that we carry, but you can find them fairly easily since use of 18V drill batteries in trailers has become popular.

  • Troubleshooting Dim Trailer Left Turn Signal
Yes, this could possible be an issue. Sometimes a faulty ground can limit the amount of current that can flow to the lights. It can also cause your lights to behave in unpredictable ways. My recommendation would be to hook up a 12V, well charged, battery directly to your trailer connector. Apply the negative terminal to the connector ground and then apply the positive terminal to the different light pins. If the lights are still dim, your problem is in the trailer wiring. If this is the...
