This product gets a three based on shipping condition only. etrailer customer service and shipping time was excellent as usual. The shipment arrived 2 days after the order was placed, as promised. However, as others have noted, the product packing is poor. The boxes arrived with significant damage resulting in cosmetic damage to several parts. I haven't put the hitch to use yet but I am assuming it will work correctly. I will leave a followup after I use it.

I hate to see the imperfections on the hitch. I will have our Customer Service team reach out. I recommend touching up the hitch with a rust resistant paint like Rustoleum. Over time the hitch is going to experience nicks and scratches from use.

by:

The hitch arrived nicely packed in two boxes. Very easy to assemble and install on my existing bed rails. I took the RV out for a first run with the hitch, and it performed as advertised. It was a no fuss transaction and the hitch arrived on-time!

by:

I damage my old hitch on Wednesday and ordered this one and it came very fast had it in on Saturday afternoon and was able to make my east bound trip.
As always etrailer came through for me again. Thank You

I like the pin being surrounded by the jaws instead of just a bar across the back of the pin. The 16K seems to hold the pin tighter and helping to reduce chucking while towing. I had a slider due to when I bought this last 5th wheel, it was kind of forced onto me saying they couldn't let me leave without a slider with a short bed truck. But after I got home, I ordered a Reece Sidewinder, of which I had one on our first 5th wheel back in 2007. This is my third sidewinder and wouldn't pull without one. The Reece 16K hooks up good and towing without the worry of turning to sharp when getting fuel are days gone by, thanks to these 2 combined together.
The first Reece 16k I received had something just not right and I was having a heck of a time trying to hitch up. Sent Nicole here at eTrailer a picture of the jaws a little misaligned. Nicole got back with me quickly and we had a short conversation, and just a few days later I received a replacement head. That's service!!

by:

The first hitch arrived damaged in shipping. The dent was minor but it was on the receiver plate so I asked to return it.

A lot of vendors would have pushed back on an 89 pound box being sent back but the etrailer team set up the return and shipment of the new hitch. No problem.

The new hitch arrived in good shape this afternoon. It took me about a half hour to install with normal tools and a torque wrench. Directions were clear, the parts fit, and I appreciate having the knowledgeable people at etrailer to fall back on.

There are a lot of things owners can fix themselves with the support of quality products, knowledge, and great customer service etrailer delivers.

by:

Product is good quality as it appeared --5th wheel itself was not delivered with rest of kit--arrived three days later. Installation easy.
Installation kit fits perfect-easy installation. Only variable was I had pre-existing air springs , so I had to mark and drill the frame brackets and install the air springs on the outside of the brackets--no big deal--worked out fine

by:

Delivery was fast and packaged well.
This
is my first 5th wheel hitch and has worked great for me pulling a shorter camper with a long bed 3/4 ton truck. Nice height adjustability to match the truck with the trailer. Good solid feel while pulling.

by:

I spent a whole day installing the Reese 16k hitch and custom quick mounting rails in a 2020 F150. Video was great and I advise you to watch it a couple of times before installing. Paper instructions not so good. If you have a 36 gallon fuel tank, I recommend you to do this install on a lift. I do not recommend you to install on your garage floor especially if you are 67 years old, still sore from laying on my back. You must remove spare tire and heat shield. I installed with tires on and very tight working around large fuel tank area. Going on a test drive to see if everything holds together.

by:

Because it was a new model truck, finding the right hitch became a challenge. etrailer was very helpful in sorting it out. 4,000 miles later we are happy campers

Looks like this is going to be a perfect fit for what I need to pull my 2011 Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite 8265WS, 5th wheel trailer with the Revolution pin box. Just had it installed & after many years of driving truck with a 5th wheel, I can tell this is a good sturdy 5th wheel & looks good too.

by:

Excellent hitch for pulling my 5th wheel. Unhooks a lot easier than my last hitch. My last hitch would bind up and pin would not release at jaws. I would have to move truck up or back to get it just right for it would release. I’m not having that issue with this hitch. Major plus for me!! E trailer is good to work with. It was back ordered a few weeks but overall happy with the hitch.

by:

I very much appreciate the expedited shipping and the follow-up. Appears all made it in good shape. Have put you guys on my favs along with Harbor freight,
Home Depot, Cabella's, and Big 5.-----Tell more when installed. Will only use on occasion at Tree Farm.

by:

The hitch had several large scratches on the front leg decals and a lot of smaller scratches and dings on the painted surfaces. This was caused by inadequate packing materials. The parts should be packaged so they are not allowed to touch and rub against each other during transit. One of the mounting pins did not have a machined groove for the locking clip. I had to use an old pin I had from the hitch I replaced. I would like to get a replacement pin that has a groove for the locking pin as the one I'm using is 20+ years old. I had to drill out the hole for the cotter pin that attaches the handle. The pin would not go through until I drilled it out. On the flip side the hitch is what I expected it to be and seems to be well built and should do what I need it to do. I gave you 3 stars due to the packaging issues and the pin with no groove.

by:

Legs were not as heavy and our original 15k. Difficulty getting one of the legs into the original rails. Slight difference in center to center. Release does work much smoother than our old hitch As for etrailer, the hitch arrived in three days, No shipping charge. Great service.

by:

The hitch was installed on Valley Rails which was previously installed on my 2004 Silverado 3500. The hitch fit on the rails and during the first pull performed outstanding. I pull a 41ft 5th wheel and I am impressed with the double jaw lock.

Troy

After a year The Hitch is performing outstanding! I have pulled my RV approximately 2000 miles and no issue. RV is a 42 ft 5th wheel.

by:

After getting the rear rail installed, I used the hitch to set the front rail. I worked perfectly. I can remove the hitch without any binding. This was a problem with my old hitch on my old truck that was installed by the service department where I bought my original 5th wheel trailer.
This is basically the same hitch as I had before on my old truck and I had no problems with it after towing approximately 37,000 miles over 15 years so I expect that this hitch will give me the same service.

This hitch is now in my 2016 RAM 3500 and functioning perfectly.

by:

The hitch has worked as expected. I would expect nothing but from Reese. During our last trip the hitch started to creek so I removed the top and applied a little grease. This unit is working in conjunction with a Revolution king pin box on our 5th wheel. We are very pleased with this unit for our application.
Etrailer has been our go to place for many trailering items. I would recommend them overall for customer and product performance

Wow, thanks for the product follow up. We have used the Reese hitch a lot this past year traveling out west into South Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado etc. Hitch has worked perfectly. For a while I did take advantage of the RVs revolution hitch but found that it was to stressful on the hitch and more difficult to connect to the hitch so I have gone back to a standard 5th wheel configuration. etrailer is my go to supplier for RV stuff unless I have an emergency and need to act on a failure immediately.Anyway thanks for the follow up. Everything is working well here. Just trying to keep warm

by:

Everything is good
Hardware bag broke
open being shipped
Couple #8nuts where missing
Everything go to go

by:

Another case of Reese's failure to package their products properly. What used to be bright and shiny delivered scratched, covered in areas of the paint rubbing on cardboard. Screws missing, release handle bent to where it wouldn't slide over the rod. Hammer marks on the legs which would seem to indicate someone already tried to mount it and returned it. 30 minute job turned into 2hrs of cussing. But at least it showed up in two days. I hope whoever bought out Reese brings a better process to the market, but the chances I'd buy it are pretty slim.

by:

I'm sad reese is made in CHINA! the one leg is not drilled on both sides, i can fix it myself Etrailer is awesome!

by:

Great 5th wheel hitch and best price I could find. It fit into the rails on my 2012 Ford F250 perfectly. Very pleased with ETrailer's fast delivery and reliable products.

I’ve used this hitch to tow my 36 ft 5th wheel over 5000 miles. It has been a very solid and reliable hitch. I’m very pleased with it.

by:

Great fifth wheel hitch for the money. Gives a much smoother ride than my previous Reese than only rotated front to back. The customer service from etrailer was second ton none. I will definitely purchase from these folks again.

Still satisfied

by:

etrailer gets 5 stars for quick delivery of this hitch. Reese on the other hand gets 0 stars for quality as the first time we hauled with it we got to our campsite and went to pull forward to put the trailer on blocks to level it and a weld broke on the jaw and let the trailer loose and it fell down and went back and bent the tailgate. Then I spent all memorial day weekend trying to get another head to pull 2 1/2 hours home. I did all of the leg work for them only to have to wait for them to make sure that they could pay me for repairs to our truck (3 months). etrailer was great, Reese not so much. So the rating is for the hitch not etrailer.

by:

The locks are good. I’ve used them before. My problem is with the hitch I installed .The ‘single layer’ cardboard box was REALLY BUSTED UP. The hitch was heavily scratched and the ‘locking tab holes didn’t line up . I had to fabricate a new one , if I’d known that the hitch was made in ASIA, I would’ve bought a different make - REESE has really been downgraded !

by:

Hitch arrived well packaged. Easy assembly and it fit right in to my existing rails for the Lil Rocker hitch I was replacing. I haven't towed with it yet but look forward to the security of the jaw clamp over the slide bar.

Pat

You should note that when properly installed the slide bar of the # PS30099 should not allow a trailer to come disconnected. The latch must not have been slid close all the way or the trailer was high-pinned.

According to Reese there will be about 1/4" of a gap in the jaws that is within tolerance once the trailer is hooked up to the fifth wheel hitch part # RP30047. Since the hitch has a dual jaw design it is impossible to not have a gap once hooked up to the trailer because the jaws need to open enough to hook up the king pin on the trailer. If your hitch has a larger gap than 1/4" in the jaws please let me know and we can troubleshoot further.

With any 5th wheel trailer hitch you are going to experience some chucking. This is because there needs to be some space between the king pin and the jaws to allow the trailer to pivot at the 5th wheel hitch. Adding suspension enhancement could absorb some of the road shock but it could also make for a stiffer ride. Also, often times the brackets for suspension enhancement will interfere with the brackets of the 5th wheel hitch install kit. You would likely not be able to get enough weight...
