Video Transcript for Review of Reese Fifth Wheel Custom Installation Kit - Toyota Tundra - RP50084-58

Michael: Hi, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit for Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitches. This kit is going to work for your 2007 through 2019 Toyota Tundra trucks. It's going to include everything you need to get your Fifth Wheel Hitch hooked up to your Toyota Tundra. The kit includes your custom brackets, your rails, and all your hardware. These custom brackets, they mount to the frame of your Tundra beneath the bed, and they provide the attachment points for your Fifth Wheel rails.

The rails sit inside the bed and they are what your Fifth Wheel Hitch attaches to. The nice thing about these custom brackets is that they use the existing holes in your Tundra's frame, so you're not going to have to do nearly as much drilling, which in turn is going to make the install a lot faster and could cut the install time down to about half of what you would get with your universal bracket systems. You are going to have to drill through your truck bed to make the attachments between your brackets and your rails, but that should be the only drilling that you really have to do. This kit is compatible with a lot of different types of Hitches. So, whether you have a Curt or Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese Valley or Husky Hitch, it's going to work great. There are a few Hitches that it will not work with, which would be the Reese Elite Series, Signature Series, or the Valley UBS Hitches.

The rails and the brackets are made out of a solid steel construction, and they have a nice black powder coat finish that's going to help them resist any rust and corrosion. Our rails are 43 inches long. They're going to be five and three fourths inches wide, and they're going to stick up about an inch and an eight. So, keep that in mind. This is a permanent installation, so you are going to have to live with these in the back of your truck. So, if you're doing things other than hauling your Fifth Wheel, and they might be cumbersome, might reduce some of the bed access you have, but they are going to work really well for pulling your Fifth Wheel Hitch.

They do come with a five-year limited warranty from Reese, and that's going to complete our look at the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit for your Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitches..

VERY IMPRESSIVE Custom kit ! The RP50084-58 makes universal types a why bother option. I've done one and comparing the drill time saving and odd angling L straps you get with them, these meaty and made for, no guess work brackets are what makes this kit a no brainer. So pleased I chose it to haul our 30ftr. with my Tundra. Instructions are good and hardware is top notch. I'm 60 yrs. old and did it alone in my driveway if that helps anyone's decision LOL! Love your products and your company etrailer

How’s it working out? It’s still out working! checked nuts after a couple trips, undercoated everything. No issues

by:

The Quick Install Installation Kit made installation of the 5th wheel hitch in my 2014 Tundra fairly easy. (It's still work, but makes it possible for someone with mechanical ability to get it done) I would highly recommend the kit as well as etrailer.

Note: I did not need to remove my rear air bags as claimed by etrailer. The air bags and hitch worked together just fine.

by:

Works very well

by:

the best part of this kit was the brackets fit my truck perfectly . A template to lay in the bed for rail hole configuration would have been a great help . the big reason I rated this a 3 star is I live in the country and had to drive 30 miles to get the correct bolts needed to mount the rails { the kit was missing 8 carriage bolts , lock nuts and washers }

by:
2019 Toyota Tundra

This was our 2nd rail installation. The first was just a rail kit for a a toyota tundra. The second was a "specific custom rail kit" for our new 2019 Toyota Tundra. Well worth the money. It installed easily with no frame drilling. Order a custom rail kit for your truck, you will not regret it.

by:

no instructions was able to download from website they where fairly clear
but there is room for some improvment I have done mechanical work most of my life Iam 67 so i try to be fair in my evaluation this is a good product would buy again

by:

Well made product. Custom fit means only drilling is in the truck bed. The rear most bolts on the front and rear rail are a major pita to get to. All 4 are basically hidden between the frame and bed. Defiantly a 2 person job. Only option on tightening is an open end wrench and lots of cramps from being a contortionist trying to find them. Overall I would buy again, but let someone else install??

by:

Custom rail kit was great. Directions are really good and easy to follow. Bracket pieces are very heavy duty. Was happy with everything other than they use UPS and it’s always a delayed delivery in our area now with the Covid thing it gives them a excuse to have late deliveries non-stop! Was Two days late! Excellent Product! Excellent Company!

Rails came in poor packaging missing parts that fell out through the holes. That said, the rest of the product was good, and installed as expected…after replacing the missing hardware

2016 Toyota Tundra

Product arrived in the scheduled time and was relatively easy to install with some minor difficulties due to Toyota tundra chassis.
All in all very happy with the product and Etrailer.
Would not hesitate to order from them again.

by:

Got product very quick, all parts there, directions very good, very happy with my product and etrailer.com...

by:

I started to install myself but ran into a problem. So then went to a place to have installed. Only costed me $700. to have installed the installer was amazed with it. He said it was a lot more easy compared to the company’s.

by:

the product was very good and high-quality the directions not so much thay where someone confusing it took me a lot longer than I thought it would probably 8 hours

by:

Haven't installed yet but appears as quality equipment, very helpful when ordering, confirmed I was ordering the right equipment, order was placed on Monday AM and received Wednesday afternoon in South Alabama.

  • How to Tow a Fifth Wheel Trailer with a 2013 Toyota Tundra with a 5-1/2 ft Bed
I have a solution that will allow you to tow a fifth wheel with your 2013 Toyota Tundra Crewmax, but since you have a 5-1/2 foot bed a slider hitch wouldn't give you enough clearance to make tight turns. Instead you will need a Sidewinder pin box replacement for the trailer you plan to tow and will be able to use your slider hitch part # RP30051 but it will have to remain in the forward most position. If you didn't have a hitch a stationary hitch like part # RP30047 would be a better choice. You...

  • Is Sidewinder Required for 5-1/2 Foot Bed on 2013 Toyota Tundra
The 5-1/2 foot bed of your 2013 Toyota Tundra will require the use of a Sidewinder in order to safely make a sharp turn with your fifth wheel trailer. With a bed that short, and any type of sharp turn, the trailer will crash into your Tundra, resulting in significant damage. To find the correct Sidewinder what you will need to know is the manufacturer and model number of the pin box on your fifth wheel and match that with the correct replacement. For example, Sidewinder # RP34FR will...

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Install Kit for 2007 Toyota Tundra Long Bed and RBW Lil Rocker Hitch
The RBW Lil Rocker should fit industry standard rails as long as the hitch mounting feet measurements on center match the measurements of the industry standard rails, see picture. If it does match then you have several installation kit options for your 2007 Toyota Tundra with 8 foot bed. For a semi-custom kit that will require some drilling into the truck frame you can use # RP30035-309. I have linked the installation instructions to the right for you. • 5th Wheel Base Rail Kit and Hitch Compatibility with 2013 Toyota Tundra
The 26 inch on center brackets do not make sense to me. The standard 5th wheel base rails are 22 inches by 20-1/2 inches where the majority of hitches fit and in some cases are 22 by 29 inches. The 26 inches makes me think you may have a different style or are measuring in a different location as there aren't hitches I'm aware of with a 26 inch base. My recommendation for your 2013 Toyota Tundra is the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches...

  • Custom Installation Brackets, Part # V55151R for Installing Fifth Wheel Hitch on 2009 Toyota Tundra
You would need the Fifth wheel Hitch Custom Installation Kit with Rails for the Toyota Tundra, part # RP50084-58. Since your truck has the short bed, you will want to make sure you are using either a fifth wheel hitch with a slider or a Sidewinder to prevent the front of the trailer from striking and damaging the rear of the truck cab. The sliding fifth wheel hitch will typically gain you 10-12 inches of additional clearance between the trailer and the cab, while the Sidewinder will gain...

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for 2007 Tundra Short Bed Pulling Trailer with Lippert Turning Point
If the trailer you are looking at is equipped with the Lippert Turning Point Pin Box then you will be able to use a fixed 5th wheel hitch on your 2007 Toyota Tundra short bed truck. This is because the pivoting mechanism on the pin box will provide the necessary cab clearance during sharp turns. For the hitch I recommend taking a look at the Reese M5 # RP30928 because of its forged single piece jaw that wraps completely around the trailer's king pin for a really secure connection and...

  • Frame Brackets for Reese 5th Wheel Install Kit on 2021 Toyota Tundra
Assuming that the bed rails you have are from Reese, you'd need the # RP50084 frame brackets. (You want to ensure that the frame brackets and bed rails are from the same manufacturer). You'd also want to go with the # RP58504 bolt kit to fasten the bed rails to the frame brackets. The existing hardware for your bed rails isn't meant to be torqued multiple times, so it's recommended that new hardware be used. Also, keep in mind that unless your truck has the 8 foot bed, you likely won't...

The fifth wheel rail kit you'll want for your 2018 Toyota Tundra is the Reese custom rail kit part # RP50084-58 because a custom install kit will minimize install time and drilling into the vehicle frame when compared to a universal kit. The part you referenced, Reese Universal Base Rail Kit # RP30035-309, is one option. The Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit is a custom fit for your Tundra which means no drilling into the frame is required. So as long as you don't plan to load the trailer with more than 1,400 lbs worth of cargo your truck would work great and be totally safe.
