Reducing Chucking when Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer with a 2010 Ram 1500
Question:
I have a Pro Series 16k locking jaw hitch in a 2010 ram 1500 and I am experiencing chucking on bumps. Would more weight on the hitch decrease the chucking? Would air bags on the truck help?

With any 5th wheel trailer hitch you are going to experience some chucking. This is because there needs to be some space between the king pin and the jaws to allow the trailer to pivot at the 5th wheel hitch.
Adding suspension enhancement could absorb some of the road shock but it could also make for a stiffer ride. Also, often times the brackets for suspension enhancement will interfere with the brackets of the 5th wheel hitch install kit. You would likely not be able to get enough weight safely on the pin to stop the chucking.
The best thing to reduce chucking is to replace the trailer pin box with an air ride pin box. To determine if there is a model that fits your trailer I would need to know the make and model of the pin box. This information should be on a sticker or plate on the pin box.
