Today we'll be taking a look at the Lippert Components Kwikee Miniature Rectangle Door Switch Kit.This allows our Kwikee steps to be deployed and retracted automatically, so that whenever our door is closed, that will put the two pieces of our switch together, and then that'll tell our steps to retract. Whenever we open the door, those two pieces will come apart, and that'll tell the steps to open out.Now, this is going to be a normally closed circuit, so whenever we have it just sitting on its own, this circuit is closed now, and when we bring the two pieces together, now that circuit is open. So, for you electrical engineers out there, you'll know what that means. It just means that when that circuit is open, that means that there's no electricity going through our system. When it's closed, the electricity is flowing and there's no resistance there.This is Kwikee part number 905312000. As far as the measurements, the sensor itself, it goes on the inside, it's about 1-1/4" long.
That should be the same for our door portion. Again, 1-1/4" long by about . it's about 9/16" wide, and then at the deepest point, it's about 5/16.The length of wire coming off of our RV side is a little over 12". It's about 16" long. So, it should have enough wire to make our ground and power connections.
And then we'll have our four mounting holes on either side if you wanted to use some bolts for that. There's also some double-sided tape, so you just peel off the backing and press that into place. You want to make sure wherever you mount these up that they do match together whenever the door is closed, and you can either have them together like this or a little bit flatter if you need that to be a little flatter connection point.But this will get your steps working, again, and keep you from having to think about what your steps do as you open and close that RV door. It does come with a 90-day limited warranty from Lippert Components. And that's going to do it for our look at the Lippert Components Kwikee Miniature Rectangle Door Switch..

I ordered a magnetic switch online a little over a week ago and received it within 3 days of order. Great service. After installing switch on my RV door I was having troubles with switch working opposite of what I needed. The step would open when I closed the door and would close when I opened the door. I found out that what I needed was a normally closed switch and what I received was a normally open switch. I called customer service and after customer service checked with technical they provided me with another part number for the correct switch. The original part number ordered did not caution me to confirm normally open vs normally closed switches. I received the new switch in mail late today (within 3 days of ordering-great service) and will attempt to install this switch tomorrow to get my RV steps working again.
Wish the description included a key piece of information - is this normally open or normally closed switch?
The part that I ordered came in on the day that was set from the tracking site. The part I ordered fit and fixed my problem.

According to Lippert, this is a normally closed switch.
