Recommended Light Switch Safe to Use In Wet and Cold Climates For Storage Area Hatch On Boat

Question:

Im building a custom 22foot aluminum 5 man duck hunting boat that is all custom for a long time customer. I have 7 hatches that will have 2 struts per hatch, only one strut will require your switch. I was going to use a hall effect type sensor to turn the storage space light on and off with the opening and closing of the hatch but ran across your awesome product thats going to keep me from having to make mounting brackets for each hatch....my main question to you...with the moisture and wet conditions a hunting boat sees especially with wet dogs in and out constantly on sub freezing weather days how do the switches not only hold up over time but operate in conditions not found inside of a climate controlled RV? Thanks

I recommend using the Magnetic Door Sensor # LC374198 for your custom boat project. These sensors are safe to be used in wet conditions and being magnetic will allow you to place the wired sensor on either the door or frame where you plan to mount the light. You will then be able to place the magnet side on the other side. This switch provides a open circuit when magnets are together and closed circuit when they separate so it will turn the lights on when you open the storage area hatch.

The Strut Mount Switch # DG52479VP was designed to be used in dry areas not exposed to the elements. The internal switch is not a sealed switch so it could become damaged under the wet and cold conditions.
