Hi everyone. Aiden here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install this replacement screen door latch from Lippert Components. This is going to be for the right swinging doors, so it'll install on the left-hand side here and be a direct replacement for your current latch, whether it's broken or just not working right anymore. The installation is gonna be pretty straightforward but there is one thing that you need to take note of because depending on your setup, you might have some strange screws. For ours, we have screws that need to be used or loosened with a square bit, so it's a little odd.
Usually something like a Phillip's head or something more standard is typical. But if your camper has something like this, (ratchet clicking) then just grab the appropriate bit and get these two screws here loosened up and removed. Now on the backside here, there's gonna be two Phillips head screws that we'll also need to loosen. (screwdriver clanking) With both of those screws removed in the top and bottom corners, you can get the handle popped off. There is a little bit of friction to it but loosening and removing those screws frees that up up a little bit to where this section kind of opens up.
(door latch thunking) But anyways, grab your new latch, pop it into position, (door latch clattering) and you'll notice that it doesn't quite go into place into place all the way. That's because the screws come pre-installed, so just pop those out, push the latch into position, and then reinsert the screws. To make sure it fully slots in, I found it best to get that top corner put into place and then you can kind of push it into place from there and you'll feel it nest inside the ridges of the screen door there. We can reinsert our screws. And it's important to note for the two screws on the outside, those don't come included with the kit, so if you removed an old one, reuse those ones that you removed or if you need new screws, then make sure to pick up new screws.
(ratchet clicking) After that, we can give it a quick test. Make sure that it opens (door slamming) and closes just like it did before, and it's all good. Overall, it's a very straightforward installation process, so if your screen door latch is broken, you can get a new one and get the door working again. The one thing like I mentioned before to look out for is really just those screws that aren't included with the kit. Depending on your camper setup, they might be a square bit that we had, or if they are a bit more standard, then you don't have to worry about it as much.
But watch out for it. Get the right bit (door slamming) and get the new one installed. But that'll do it for our look at the installation of the replacement screen door latch from Lippert Components. Thanks for watching.

Very fast shipping. Looks like a well made product. I am only giving three stars because I think the product description could have been done better. It is sold as a replacement for part 201471 which is the part I needed. The plastic slider on my door will not close with this latch in place. If you look at the photo you will see why this replacement part will not work on my screen door. Now I must return.
The part snapped into place easily and then screwed in place with NO PROBLEMS.
Thank you
