Well! It's with great coincidence that it stop working last week. Worked fine and now has stopped! This is our second one which lasted 8 years...traded with car!

I now have to remove the back of our 2022 Chevy Trax to see what's going on!

What's the verdict? Did you find out what the problem was? There is a 3 year warranty on the backup sensors, so let me know what you find and we can go from there.

Installed on 2015 Kia Sorento. My particular installation was simple . I new it would be , that is why I chose this product. My backup lights are located on the back door hatch. Removed three small opening covers and exposed the opening to the light wiring and gained access to " fish wire and connector through, without removing paneling. Connections were literally a "snap". All was achieved within the back door panel. The unit seems to work fine but is lacking corner activation, which is to be expected with only two sensors. My particular application will not sense a small dog even when sensors are pitched lowest possible.( high licence plate). Had to disconnect and reconnect connector with white alignment dots numerous times before unit worked properly. Overall, I would say it functions very well . It is very adequate for my needs and at a reasonable price. I Couldn't give it 5 stars because of the connector problem. How it does in the future. only time will tell .

It it not perfect because it is limited to certajn degree. It would work better if my placement would have allowed for it to be a little bit lower. I am still very happy with the purchase and would definately recommend it. It is still a great help to me.

by:

First of all etrailer is great; prompt shipping and immediate e-mail notifications throughout the purchase process. The unit was easy to install once we figured out the backup light color code for my 2011 Dodge Challenger (white w/light green stripe). It works great! Almost invisable; does not detract from the looks of the vehicle.

I purchased this backup sensor to install on my sons 2010 Dodge Challenger SE. We havent installed it yet. How has the unit worked for you? Any problems and any additional info you could offer on the install?Thank you, Felicia

by:

product works and on most days is great but when in rain or heavy dew it gets set off all the time.

by:

Product works well. After installation, followed directions to make adjustments as needed. Backed up towards a fence and alarm went off. Repeat 3 more times and then walked off footage between. Sensors read at least 6'.

by:

Great product. Easy installation. Excellent instructions and good price. I've used e-Trailer's products before and enjoy their simple but important application````protecting things behind you while you're backing up.

I really like the audible alert license bracket mount. Good price and works great. Easy to install.

My wife loves this addition to her car.

by:

I'm a car guy for over 40 years, with a long history of show Corvettes. So I'm very particular and I do all of my own work. I bought this backup alert frame from etrailer.com late last year and installed it on my wife's 2011 Ford Fusion along with a backup camera on top of the license plate. It all fit together perfectly. And it works beautifully, just as a factory backup alert would. I just bought a second one for my 2015 Malibu LTZ that has a factory backup camera, but no alert! So this is the quick and easy fix, without drilling holes in the rear valance for those other types of sensors.

Feeding the wire up through the license plate lamp is easy, then just tapping it into either backup lamp wire. And a ground is easy to find. I ran the alert speaker wire around the back seat and laid the small speaker up on the corner of the rear shelf. Depending on the height of license plate bracket, the sensors are adjustable up and down also for accuracy. After my wife backed into two neighbors cars at two different homes we've lived at, this solution was long overdue!!!

Still works fine. Sometimes alerts briefly when backing up for no reason. But its not an issue.

by:

Had to modify the bottom plastic area to fit between my bumper and tailgate. Shaved off about 1/8" - 3/16". Installation not too bad. Would like to see a larger notification area, about 8 to 10 ft for a slow intermittent beep. Right now it is between 5 to 6 ft. Also, I have had times I get a low steady sound when I put in reverse with nothing behind me. Goes away when I put in forward. When I do get a low steady sound, the until still notifies me when I get close to an object. I disconnect the horn when I tow my boat or ATV trailer. A good safety kit for the price and have recommended it to friends.

After a small modification to installation, your product has worked well. Sometimes get a low sound when I do an automatic unlock or lock by my key fob but it is intermittent. Still recommend the product.

I have purchased four backup camera systems over the last three years or so. Only one time has a system malfunctioned. Customer service took care of the issue immediately and without need for explanation. As long as I can purchase these systems manufactured by Hopkins and sold by etrailer.com, I will continue to purchase them as needed. They hold up great. I’ve had one system for over two years. Never had an issue with it. Way better than the cheap ones. These backup camera systems are priced very reasonably on etrailer. Each system I’ve purchased is installed on a separate vehicle (total of four). Easy to install as well.

by:

I’ve had this back up camera and alarm system which has worked great , I especially like the sensor system with the audible beep , set up an installation are relatively easy and instructions are very good ,only one hiccup the sensor stopped working after a few months. I contacted e trailer and their customer service was fantastic extremely helpful and sent me out a brand new unit No questions asked and it has worked flawless ever since !! If you’re looking for an economical way to have a back up camera and back up sensors this is definitely the way to go. Thanks again to E trailer for the fantastic customer service

by:

Installing the back up alarm was easy , directions were very clear . The alarm works great loud , clear, and very reliable. Does exactly as advertised. All good hear

by:

Dear Customer Service,
The rating section
would not accept a mark, but I place the product as excellent. It was easy to install as the instructions are straight forward, and I have now installed the Hopkins system on two of my Ford F-150s. I have a factory unit on my latest Ford F150, which had a camera only. I missed the sensor system, and I had to install it on my 2015 F150. The Hopkins Backup Camera and Sensor system is comparable to the factory system, but a lot less expensive. I would not be without it on any of my vehicles. Thanks etrailer for your support and excellent service.

The original backup sensor was defective but was replace very soon by Hopkins once notified. The replacement has been working well for over a year and is sensitive and has good range. I am extremely pleased with it.

It is working very well. Money well spent!

by:

Product is useful. I bought it to help get the distance when backing up to a smaller car with my SUV. It works pretty well for that purpose. Occasionally I get false alarms when backing up with nothing close to my vehicle. All and all it served my purpose.

Raymond,Thank you for your review. This back up system has sensors that are made to be able to adjust the angle. The mounting location of the sensors may be an issue. If the sensors are detecting parts of the vehicle then you may be getting false alarm beeps. This may be happening if the angle of the sensors are detecting the sides of the mounting location or the angle of the sensors are detecting the bumper. It is possible to mount the unit upside down so the sensors are on the bottom but that will block some of the range of the sensors.

by:

Extremely fast delivery. Simple installation on my 2005 Nissan Altima. I like the
product because it eliminates drilling holes in the bumper. I found the audible
alarm cable to be about 6' shorter than I needed. I easily spliced in a cable extension.
Product worked well. Well worth the price.

by:

Needed a parking sensor for the front of my 2017 Ford F250 FX4. It is hard to judge the distance from a vehicle in front when parking. I did not want to drill any holes in the bumper. This is the perfect solution. Sensors and controller simply bolt to the front license plate holder, picked up power from one of my upfitter switches under hood and ran speaker wire through the firewall grommet. I mounted the speaker under the driver-side dash. So far the system is working great.

by:

I installed this product in a 2017 Camry, which has a backup camera but no proximity sensor. I just finished the installation and haven't fully tested. I mounted the alarm in the trunk lid to minimize wiring; set it on Hi. If it is not loud enough I may need to move it further forward. I found the incandescent backup lights in the trunk lid and wired the power leads into them. One problem I had was connections in the splices. Per the note in the instructions, I doubled the lead wires in the connector, and now everything works.

by:

I had purchased front parking sensors for my 2018 Mercedes Benz 300 GLC (why in the world on this car, no front parking sensors) and it cost me $265 to have them installed. I found the HOPKINS backup sensors on [another site] and because of shipping (so I could return if needed) I purchased it, even though more expensive for my 2018 Honda Ridgeline for the front (the rear had sensors installed). My local auto shop charged me $50 for installation. Total...a little over $90. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. I have since bought another set from etrailers for the front of my 2014 Nissan 370Z. It is so low to the ground that I installed a wireless camera from GARMIN on the front license bracket. Because the HOPKINS worked so well on my Ridgeline, this seemed like a great solution for when I do not take the time to hook up the Garmin GPS in my vehicle. BIG difference in price of sensors.

Bottom line...Buy it, you will really like it....

by:

Package arrived in good condition. The product is well constructed. Delivery from etrailer was great. Will not have time to install product until spring here in the NE. Will follow up later.

Still working great. Saved me a number of times from almost hitting something. Very accurate.

Directions somewhat vague.Wires to backup lights would not be long enough for some installations. Were fine for my Dodge Durango.

Works great! I installed it on my 2014 Ram truck. Only suggestion is to add a toggle switch to turn it off so it doesn’t drive you crazy when backing a trailer! Easy addition. Important to remember to turn it back ON after so it will warn you again.

by:

I received the Hopkins Backup Sensor System HM60100VA within 4 days. That was very fast. I installed the Backup sensor on my front license plate, because I have factory installed rear sensors. I am going to install a switch so that I can turn it off when I don't need it. When the sensor is mounted in the front it is very sensitive, it beeps a lot. I will only use it when I park.

by:

This was a great add on for our VW Beetle. It works great and gives us confidence when parallel parking. The folks at etrailer were helpful and great to work with.
