Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Rear View Safety Third Brake Light with camera. This is going to replace your third brake light housing on your Sprinter, and then, will add that backup camera, so you can be safer as you're backing up. Now, this is going to fit your 2007 through 2009 Dodge Sprinter, the 2007 through 2015 Freightliner Sprinter, the 2010 through 2015 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, and the 2016 and '17 Freightliner and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 and 3500. So this is going to just have that lens and housing, so you'll pop out your light on your Sprinter, put that in place here, and that's gonna give you that light signal, so that it's gonna be fully functional again, and then you can hook up this wire. You can see it is a 5-pin connection, and then we've got a 65 foot long wire to run up to the front of your Sprinter, and then we can get it connected, both to power wire it in there, connect it like so, and then we'll also be able to get it hooked up to our monitor, our video, and audio here, so very easy to get this installed, so that we have the benefits of a backup camera.
This does have a 170 degree viewing angle, so you'll get a nice wide view. It's got a built-in camera, so not only will you be able to see what's going on behind you, but if someone's back there giving you directions or all of a sudden someone yells out, you'll be able to hear that better through the microphone there. You can see we do have these six infrared illuminators that are gonna provide night vision up to 35 feet, so if you're operating in dark, it's gonna help you there. This is very rugged, it's got an IP68 rating, so it is gonna be weatherproof to help keep out dirt and moisture, make sure you don't have to worry about that in the future. This does comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
Like I said, very easy to get this installed, they do include this foam gasket with the 3M tape on the back to help you get it installed, and you'll probably just reuse that original hardware from that original third brake light on your Sprinter. So if you are looking to add a little extra safety and make sure you can see what's going on behind you as you're backing up and that sort of thing, this is gonna be a great addition for you. There was a missing clip necessary to activate the brake lights.
The installed led light harness almost fits the brake light housing. I had to make a few modifications to make it fit. Other than that it works perfectly.
Easy install, and fits perfectly on my 2015 Freightliner Sprinter 3500 DRW.
