Video Transcript for etrailer Tie Down Straps Review

These etrailer cam buckle straps are going to be a perfect addition to your truck, trailer or cargo carrier. You can get them in a quantity of 1, 2 or 4, to customize the needs for your haul. The 13 foot strap is going to be great for even your bulky items, such as our generator here. We we're able to go all the way across our cargo carrier and back, ensuring it's nice and secure. The safe working load limit is 293 pounds, while the maximum load or break strength is 880 pounds and that's per strap. For a look at them in action, we took it out on our test course. On our test course, we'll take it over some bumps, so you can see how it'll handle on rough and uneven surfaces and then into our slalom, so you can see how it handles under evasive maneuvers.A couple of cool things you're going to like, is our personal etrailer touches with our neoprene cover to help prevent any scratches or abrasions from the cam buckle, as well as the integrated elastic strap to tie up that excess.

The straps themselves are made of a durable polyester webbing that's going to be abrasion resistant. Our customers compare these to ProGrips cam buckle straps and while the ProGrips are very similar, they're a little bit wider, but they have less of a capacity at only 200 pounds. Additionally, you don't get the small features, like the neoprene cover for the buckle or the elastic band to hold up your excess. They're super easy to operate, simply wrap it around whatever you want to tie down, slide your strap through and then you just pull it tight. This will cinch whatever you're hauling down, so it ain't going anywhere. If you have more excess than this, you can wrap it up and secure it in the elastic band.

For the price, these were some of the cheapest straps I could find. So many hardware stores wanted outrageous prices. These have lasted me well enough with occasional use, but they do wear down. The teeth still grip perfectly well, however. I've used them to strap down items driving from Texas to Alaska, and back to Tennessee, as well as other moves totaling thousands of miles of wind, snow, and ice.

by:

I have used the straps a few times now and they have worked as expected. The are cam buckle straps. Used them when helping my in-laws move and helped to tidy up some of the stuff on the trailer. We were moving tool boxes so I didn't use them as the main tie down, but they worked well to help keep everything contained and all the drawers closed. I typically use these to tie down my stand up paddleboards. They work very well for that, the protective cover on the buckle is a nice addition to keep it from damaging whatever you are strapping down. The keeper strap doesn't really help to tie up the excess strap while they are in use, there is not enough tension in them. But the elastic keeper strap is great for storage. My favorite thing about these over the old set I was replacing is that they wrap up and the keeper strap keeps them contained. They can go in the bin in the back of my 4runner and are ready when I need them. They don't become a tangled mess that annoys me.

by:

These seem to be lighter duty straps which will work just fine securing my two 75-lb kayaks. I haven't used them yet but have used other cinch buckle straps and these should work as well. I like the neoprene cover that goes over the buckle!

by:

Good straps and I like the protective neoprene buckle covers

by:

Fast delivery and a good price. Straps are of good quality.

by:

Just received and only used once, but quality appears to be great and the straps worked well for holding two kayaks in place on my ladder rack.
Used with the foam blocks I also purchased from etrailer. The combination of these two products are perfect for my needs. Originally looked for j-type kayak racks, but was concerned someone may "borrow" them while I am out for several hours kayaking. The straps and blocks can be easily secured inside the vehicle.

Great product, still holding up well

by:

This is exactly what I needed to secure the wheel covers on my motorhome so they don't blow away on windy days. Easier to install then crawling on the ground.

by:

After a year, they tend to slip and loo sen.

by:

I love these tri down straps. They are very net by being able to roll them up and keep them from get tangled up in the storage box on the kayak trailer. Great price also.

Steel loving them.

by:

Nice straps. great 4 pk for the price.

by:

I’ve been purchasing their products for years and always pleased with the quality and service.

by:

These straps are economical and work great. I use them to cinch down gas cans on the front of a watercraft trailer.

Still great and a nice alternative to rope and, for lighter loads, ratcheting tie downs.

by:

These cinch straps were supposed to be a replacement system for tying down our kayaks; they are not very reliable for tying down on our roof racks. The straps slip/loosen while we are driving, even when we tie off the ends. Maybe the material is too slippery. We did not have this trouble with our old straps.

by:

Great strap! I use them to secure my paddle boards and habe no worries about them coming off.

by:

These buckles are well made and have held up great over the course of 1 year. I haven't used them hard, but I've been very happy with them. I especially love the buckle covers! Highly recommended!

by:

I purchased these a year ago to tie down the bow and stern of our kayaks to the roof rack on our 2016 4Runner. They have been great. We haven't had any problems with them. I always check them to ensure they are still tight while on a long trip.

by:

I like them. I’ll be using them in the bed of my truck to keep things from moving around. The cam buckles are quick to use and I also like the buckle covers and self storage straps.

by:

These work great for securing cargo on trailers and/or truck beds. Simple to use and holds tight. The perfect solution when a ratchet strap is complete overkill.

by:

These are the nicest cam-lock cinch straps that I've seen. The buckles and straps are nice quality, and the cam buckle cover is also a nice touch. Oh, and I love the integrated band to hold the strap coiled when not in use. Well done, eTrailer!

by:

The concept is great, ease of use and easy to cinch down. However, for anything longer than about a 15 minute trip with these holding down my kayak on my racks, they come loose. They don't stay tight. I am considering returning them as the first (and last) time I used them I had to stop several times and re-tighten them so that my kayak wasn't moving around. The webbing is a very slick material and it just doesn't "grab" well unfortunately.

by:

Really convenient. I’ve used several brands of straps, these are the only ones I’ve found that have a convenient elastic band to keep them rolled up and tidy for storage. Also, the neoprene buckle covers have worked well.

by:

These should work great for clinching down our kayaks without damaging them. We'll do something for bow and stern tie downs also.

by:

These cinch straps are easy and quick to use. I've traveled hundreds of miles with these tying down 4 kayaks on an elevated rack.

by:

Work great for securing kayaks to roof top rack!

by:

Would purchase again.

  • Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform OR Curt Basket on 2015 Toyota RAV4?
The Rhino Rack # RR42115BF does not include, or offer, optional spacers of any kind. I contacted Rhino-Rack to confirm this. I would consider the Curt # C18115-117 Roof Top Cargo Basket. It is a little longer, measuring 64-1/2". The clamp section of the crossbar clamps opens to 3" wide and 1-5/8" tall. If you use ellipital bars you may be able to put a homemade spacer between the cross bars and the basket clamp. You can also mount the basket as far forward as possible and move the crossbars...

  • What Rooftop Basket and Roof Rack do You Recommend for My 2004 Toyota Tacoma Regular Cab?
We have what you need! If you are looking for a great basket for your standard/regular cab 2004 Toyota Tacoma, I recommend using the SportRack Vista Roof Mounted Cargo Basket - Steel - 44" Long x 39-1/8" Wide # SR9035. This basket is large enough to provide you with the space you need on your roof, but small enough not to impede visibility out of your front windshield while driving. It is important to note, though, that in order to use this basket on your roof, you need to have at least...

Since you will be using a ladder rack on your crossbars, I recommend using a through-crossbar style to avoid the pain of having to lift the ladder over components on the end of the crossbars when loading/unloading from the side. For that system, I recommend the following for your 2000 ToyotaAvalon with a bare roof: - Inno Aero Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - 54" Long # INXB138-2 - Inno Through Feet # INXS250 - Custom Fit Kit # INK202 The advantage of these crossbars is that you can simply...

  • Hitch Cargo Bag Recommendation to Obscure Harvested Game During Travel
All of the bags we carry are solid all the way around since most people adding a bag to the mix do it so they can try to protect their cargo from the elements. With that being said, what you might try doing is using one of our bags, part # e98990 or part # 988501, but simply turn it upside down. This means that your game will be covered but the bottom will be completely open so everything is a bit easier to clean up after you get home. These bags come with straps but they are connected...

  • Will Kayak Carrier Fit Thin Factory Crossbars on 2016 Ford Escape?
Yes they are! Etrailer J-Style Kayak Carrier #e98878 fits bars within 7/8" to 1-1/2" thickness. I'm a big fan of how they're designed to fit most factory crossbars. From what I know, the factory bars for the Ford Escapes since 2013 are the flat and thin style. Unless they have a different design for your bars, they are a confirmed fit for your 2016 Ford Escape. You also won't have the slight tilt that round bar owners sometimes experience when their carrier is unloaded, so that's great! If...

  • How to Carry Canoe on 2004 Ford F-150 Towing Coachmen Trailer Trailer
Most of the Coachmen Apex travel trailers shown on their website include several common rooftop features like antennas, air conditioners, ducts and vents. The AC units tend to be fairly tall, most about 12- to 15-inches, and racks made for trailer roofs, like # RA-28, are not tall enough to clear these. Apart from that you have the matter of getting the canoe about 9 or 10 feet in the air! I can suggest a better option; using a front hitch on your 2004 F-150 along with a load support and...

Tie-down straps can certainly be added to the Curt Cargo Bag # C18210 that you referenced for even more security but one of the great things about this particular bag is that it actually features 6 integrated straps that are designed to hold it in place inside a cargo basket like the excellent Curt # C18100 that you also mentioned.
