What Cargo Carrier and Swing Away Adapter do You Recommend for My 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe?
Question:
I have a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe with tire on the back. I want to buy a hitch cargo carrier. I would like to be able to carry at least 150 to 200 lbs. in the back enough to carry anything we would need for vacation. Can you recommend something for me. I love the swing away system so I can open our back door, but wanted a recommendation. Thank you

If you need to be able to carry 150-200 pounds on your 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe, I recommend using the 24x60 etrailer Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - 500 Pounds # e98874 along with the Kuat Pivot 2 Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks - 2" Hitches # PVP20B. The Pivot 2 allows you to swing the cargo carrier to the passenger's side of the vehicle in 90 degree and 120 degree increments. With this adapter, the cargo carrier will retain its 500-pound weight capacity. Although, the capacity of your hitch receiver will be reduced by 50%. With the total length of this system when extending from the hitch receiver, you should not have any problems with clearing your spare tire on your Wrangler.
For a locking hitch pin that protects your cargo carrier from theft, I recommend using the etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin Lock # e99047. For straps to secure your cargo, those are the etrailer Cam Buckle Cinch Straps w/ Buckle Protectors - 1" x 13' # E98876-4.
If you need a compatible 2" hitch receiver, I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Class III - 2" # e98856. This hitch provides you with 350 pounds of maximum tongue weight capacity and 3,500 pounds of gross towing weight capacity. If you use the Pivot, this will reduce the total capacity to 175 max tongue weight and 1,700 gross towing weight. When using the hitch and an accessory, you adhere to the lowest weight capacity. In this case, you cannot exceed 175 pounds even though the cargo carrier is rated at 500 pounds.
