I cannot use this ball mount because the shaft is too short that goes into hitch receiver on my one ton Dodge truck. It does not allow enough room between truck back bumper and ball to allow any trailer tongue to be put on ball.

COULD NOT USE THE ITEM!!!!!!!

by:

Purchased this hitch as a companion for our Reese anti sway control. The small ball for the Reese sway control fits in the bracket and the 2” drop on the hitch is exactly what we needed to have our Jayco camper level when towing.

Continues to work perfect in conjunction with my Reese friction sway control

by:

The ball mount was a complete failure even after a lengthy discussion on the phone. I wanted a ball mount that would accept the rocker ball and anti-sway bar. The bar sent to me can't be used this way. An email and phone message to the sales person I ordered with, got no response.

I am sorry the parts didnt work out like you were hoping. I will have our customer service team reach out to you about this quickly!

by:

My wife is a member of "Sisters On The Fly" with four vintage trailers, so I have been a frequent customer of etrailer. I have never failed to get excellent customer service and top of the line products.

by:

Works great so far, I had some difficulty mounting the ball plate on trailer frame. Make sure to mark holes with a punch and use a new drill bit.

by:

Very prompt service and delivery. Ready to get this on the truck and start pulling the new camper!

by:

I ordered and received the ball mount and sway bar together. They were received very promptly and in excellent shape. They are very heavy, i.e., heavy duty. The bracket that was fitted to the trailer was about half a screw wider than optimal size for my smallish trailer but did fit. Installation was easy. The self-tapping screws functioned well. All-in-all, a 10 out of 10 experience.

Great. No problems after a year.

by:

We have looked for this tow hitch with sway bar ball, then we saw yours. It fit perfect. Will work great with towing our 13 foot camping trailer. I am a happy customer , And for your quick service, that was great. Thank you.

made a 4500 mile trip this summer worked great no prolbems at all

by:

Was exactly what I needed, for a great price, with clear installation instructions.

by:

This is the package that I received and I was very disappointed in the condition that I received it . But the unit it self was quiet nice and looks like it will work very fine for my use !

by:

This process simply could not have been simpler. It shipped the same day I ordered it and it was in my mailbox a day and a half later The video instructions as well as the print instructions were clear and concise and easy to follow. Both products were quality items, what you'd expect fro etrailer.com, and I would highly recommend this site for quick shipments and high quality products.

Still working hard and performing well. Im very pleased with this purchase. Thanks for the follow-up.

installing parts together very easy.

by:

Very simple & strong! It’ll work perfect for my new 20’ trailer with sway bar! Love it!

It worked okay, but ultimately I had to go another direction.

by:

Works well. Much better than the previous two piece unit. No play between the two parts, so no clunking.

by:

Have not yet used it as I just got to install the hitch today.

by:

It was delivered quickly. The price was excellent. I've owned this product before and it was stolen off my truck. I use it to pull a ultra lite 21foot trailer. The hitch and stabilizer bar work well together. I really like this product.

by:

This hitch has worked great for the Curt friction sway control for my pop-up camper. I tow with a Honda Ridgeline and this fits perfect and works as it should. I would recommend this to others.

by:

Meriah also found this ball mount (with sway control plate) that is also rated at 7500lbs to match my class 5 hitch rating - this ball mount simplified attaching sway control from trailer frame

by:

Great product

by:

The Curt ball mount with sway control bracket appears to be a great quality product. It will not be used until May of 2015 when we pick up our new travel trailer. I am sure it will get the job done.

by:

Used this hitch connected to pop-up trailer with single anti-sway bar. Works great, no trailer sway in high winds or 75 mph.

by:

Worked wonders with the small toyhaler camper I have went into the mountains and even had a blowout on the haler with the sway control tab held up great

by:

Great product. Use this with sway bar rather than heavy hitch with load leveler attachments. I don't need levelers with my ultra lite camper. Super quick to ship!!

by:

I haven't actually put this product to use, yet, but it seems to be very well made with clean strong welds. Nice and heavy, and arrived looking like it was just made. And it's made in the USA!!! No Chinese steel. This will work perfectly with my sway control bar and hitch.

by:

Item was as described and shipped very fast. I have not towed with it yet but see no problem. The shank (insert) part seemed slightly short to me. It was shorter that others I have. My trailer has an electric lift and I was concerned it might not clear the lift gate on the Jeep if it was too close. Worked out perfect though. Just something to thing about next time.

  • What Does Aluminum Curt Ball Mount # C74WR Weigh
The Curt ball mount part # C74WR weighs 4 lbs. There isn't an aluminum ball mount option that has a sway bar bracket. The closest option we have that has the sway control tab is the Curt # D320 which is steel. It weighs 7 lbs.

  • Friction Sway Control For 11 Foot Northwest Coach Lil' Dipper Camper
The Reese Friction Sway Control kit you asked about, part # 83660 would work great with your small camper, and any camper up to 25 feet in length. You'd also need a ball mount with a sway control tab on it for mounting the ball that would connect the sway control unit to the ball mount. The Curt # D320 can be used in the rise or drop orientation, and will provide either a 3/4 inch rise or a 2 inch drop. If that isn't sufficient, there's an adjustable ball mount available part # 7390 which...

We can get you set up. To start you're correct that the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13343 is not designed to be used with weight distribution. We can still get the sway control, the brakes working and even help keep your Sienna level. For level the Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F4155 for the rear is an easily adjustable way to acheive a similar result. As for the brakes you will start with a working 4-way like the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118648 for...

  • Ball Mount that has Sway Control Bracket Attached to It
We don't have a wider bracket than the # RP26005 for your ball mount so the best option we would have would be a new ball mount that has the bracket already attached like the Curt # D320 which has a drop of 2 inches since you aren't wanting to do any welding.

  • Sway Control Bracket Recommendation for a Left Hand Sway Bar
You can use the Curt Ball Mount with Sway Control Bracket, # D320, in the rise position to have the sway control bracket on the left side, but you will want to remember that doing this will raise the height of your trailer tongue by almost 3 inches. This can create additional sway issues even with a sway control bar installed. Another option that you can look into is using a weld on sway control tab like part # 3442. This tab can be welded to the side of your current ball mount to provide...

We do carry a few vinyl covers that could be used to cover your Bulldog jack. We have two sizes available. The # UF38-944020 which is 10-1/2" x 13-3/4". We also have the # UF38-944026 which is a bit larger at 14-1/2" x 17-1/2". Both covers have a drawstring at the bottom you can use to secure it. I am not sure exactly what bulldog jack you have, but I imagine the larger cover would certainly do the trick.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Sway While Towing With A 2006 Toyota Camry
Since you are towing with a Toyota Camry you won't be able to use a weight distribution hitch with sway control and will only be able to adjust the weight inside of the trailer to help prevent sway. I've attached some articles below to help with this, but to be honest you need a larger vehicle like an SUV or truck to properly tow your camper. That being said you can help mitigate some of the sway by using a friction sway control bar like the Curt Friction Sway Control # 17200 but I still...

  • Can a Friction Sway Control Bar be Used with a 3-Ball Ball Mount
You will not be able to use a friction sway bar such as # 83660 with a tri-ball ball mount. There would be no place to attach the sway bar to the vehicle side and you would not be able to use a bracket or weld-on tab for the small ball the sway bar needs. A ball mount such as # D320 would be what you need. I have linked a video review of it for you.

The Pro Series friction sway control unit part # 83660 that you referenced would be what I would go with if I were you. Your trailer is pretty lightweight, but if you are getting any sway when semi trucks pass you or in strong winds this unit will help greatly. • What Size Ball Mounts To The Side Tab On The Curt Ball Mount?
The Curt Ball Mount w/ Sway Control Tab # D320 will allow for a 1" ball mount on the main ball mount. The side tab accepts a Curt Sway Control Hitch Ball # C40093. This shank diameter is 5/8" and the ball is 1-1/4". The 1-1/4" sway ball is not designed to hold a vertical load, instead it is designed to use a Curt Friction Sway Control # 17200. This will help to reduce sway that occurs on larger trailers.

  • Adding a Bar-Style Friction Sway Control Tab to a Ball Mount
The sway control brackets such as # RP26003 are going to have a 1 inch diameter ball hole like you said. What you can do is weld on tab # 3442 to the ball mount that you have so you can use a bar style friction sway control unit such as # 83660.
