Video Transcript for Derale Lighted On/Off Fan Switch Installation

Today, on our old trailer, we'll be installing the Derale on/off switch, part number D16740. We'll begin here by removing the old, broken switch. To do this, we'll need to remove the two screws that hold the plate. Then, we'll remove the two wires from the back side. With the wires removed from the back side of the switch, we'll go ahead and squeeze the tabs on the top and bottom. This will allow the switch to come out of the plate.

You'll notice that the old switch only has two prongs on the back, and the new one has three. Now, on the new one, we will not be using the gold prong, we will be using the two silver, or chrome colored, prongs. Because, we'll only be using two of the three prongs, the light up feature will not work, but the switch will still turn the interior lights on and off in this trailer. Now, to install our new plug, we'll go ahead and take the plate and the plug, sliding the plug from the front side and pushing it into position, making sure that the locking tabs snap in. All that's left then, is to reconnect the two wires on the back side. It doesn't matter which wire goes on either of these two chrome prongs here. The switch will work either way.

We'll slide each of our wires over the prongs. It's a good idea to test the switch, before we mount it back to the wall. That is the on position. That is the off position. Now that we've tested our switch, all that's left to do is to put the two screws back in that hold it to the wall. That's all there is to it, to installing the Derale lighted on/off switch, part number D16740.

Quickly and easily power your vehicle's electric fan with this lighted toggle switch.

Still toggles, the light is a bit brighter than what I anticipated which is rough at night. Installed on dash of truck to engage turbo brake, when I get around to it I will be changing it out for something less bright. The switch works perfect.

I needed a low pair of lites for my lawnmower. These worked perfectly for my needs. Delivery was very quick. I have bought from Etrailer in the past with same results on trailer hitch accessories. Customer Service is great.

You can use a NOCO Extension Cable # 329-GC019 to route the Power Cord # C-FOS07TAPK-006 for your Furrion Vision S 5" Monitor System # FOS05TASF. The extension is 12' long and the extra wire will not affect the power going to the monitor. • Does Tuson Asymmetric Sway Control Have On/Off Switch
The Tuson sway control part # 335TSC-1000 doesn't have an off/on switch so if you really wanted to kill it completely you would need to cut power to it with an additional switch on the power wire like with the # D16740.

  • Could the Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera # HM50002 get Hardwired to Battery with a Switch
You can absolutely hardwire the Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera # HM50002 to your vehicle battery through a switch to let you turn it on whenever you wanted. The red wire of the harness would need to get run to the positive side of your battery while the black wire would get run to the negative side of the battery. For a switch you could use the Derale Switch part # D16740.

  • Kill Switch Idea for Powered Landing Gear Jack to Help Deter Theft
You could make a kill switch with something like the Derale switch # D16740 so that when you have this switch off the jacks won't operate. The key will be to hide this switch so that only you'd know where it is. You'd want to install this on the power wire for your current switch's circuit and you'd be set.

  • How to Determine if Derale 32" High-Output, Electric Radiator Fan-and-Shroud Assembly Will Work
Even though the engine components we carry are meant to be a supplement to the OEM components we have heard of people using them as replacements for OEM products. If you want to try using the Derale 32" High-Output, Electric Radiator Fan-and-Shroud Assembly # D16934 as a replacement then you need to make sure the 4,000 CFM (cubic feet per minute) is a high enough rating and that the overall dimensions of this product will fit your aplpication. I have attached a diagram showing the dimensions...

  • Can the Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller Be Wired to an On/Off Switch
If you wanted the ability to cut all power to your Prodigy P3 Brake Controller part # 90195 you easily could do this by running a switch on either the power (black), or ground (white), wire although it is not recommended. For a switch you could use the # D16740 and then for 12 gauge wire you could use the # 12-1-1 sold by the foot. This isn't recommended as you'd lose all presets when you cut power to the controller and have to start over every time. For the permanent mount bracket for...

  • Back Up Docking Lights for a 2007 Chevy Silverado Z71 for Hitching Up to a Trailer at Night
The Bully Bumper Mount Backup Light, # PL-807, uses a 55 watt H3 halogen bulb so the power draw is just about the same as a single headlight. But the light comes with its own wiring that you could run to a switch, # D16740, and connect the lights directly to the battery. Or, even better, get a light kit, # DL-16CC (35 watts), that comes with everything you will need. Or if you want to go the stealth route, you can use a back up camera with night vision, # 04928. It costs more but let's...

  • Does Switch Come with 55-Watt Halogen Area Utility Light # QH16CTS
The 55-Watt Halogen Area Utility Light # QH16CTS would require you to install a switch as it does not come with one. The part # D16740 would work well as a switch. The light grounds through the mounting hardware so you would need to run the switch through the power wire.

  • Can Reverse Light of RV Be Used as Utility Light
Sounds like you want utility lights at the rear of your RV instead of a reverse light since you mentioned you didn't want the lights to come on when in reverse. So what you could do is run the power for the lights from the RV battery and then use a switch like the Derale part # D16740.

  • Wiring a LED Amber Quad Flash Kit for Use on a Snow Plow Truck
The flashing by part # CPL65A-STR is done inside the light. These lights will flash, or strobe, 4 times per second as long as 12 volt power is supplied to the circuit they are attached to. You will need a switch to activate and shut down the flashing lights. We have the Derale Lighted On/Off Switch, item # D16740, that can be used for this install and would be good to keep you alerted that the flashing lights are on, if you hook up the lighted function of the switch. • How to Power Trailer Lights from Reverse Circuit and Trailer Battery Separately
You'd want a diode like the part # RM-790. On the in side you'd run power from your trailer battery on one pin and then from the reverse light circuit on the other. On the circuit from the battery to the diode you'd need to install a switch to allow it to only draw power from the battery when you wanted it to. For that you'd need the part # D16740.

  • Can Derale D16928 be Used as Pusher Fan
The Derale fan you asked about is only able to be used as a puller, so it wouldn't work as a pusher application. And these electric fans should be mounted inside the engine compartment as opposed to outside (you wouldn't want it exposed to the elements). The best option we can offer if you have limited clearance is a pusher fan with as little depth as possible: - Derale 17" High-Output, Electric, Single Radiator Fan - 2,400 CFM # D18217 This is a single fan which is 16-7/8" wide x 16-7/8"...

  • Can 12 Volt Circuit on a 2012 GMC Yukon 7-Way be Used to Power Two 55-Watt Halogen Utility Lights
The amperage draw of 2 of the 55-Watt Halogen Flood Beam Lights, # QH16CTS, is 9 amps. This should not be a problem for a 12 volt circuit on a 7-Pole. You can check the owners manual and/or the legend on the lid of the power distribution box for the fuse that powers the 12 volt circuit to see what it is rated for to be sure. The amperage rating for a factory 7-Way might also be listed in the vehicle owners manual. If connected to the 12 volt circuit from a trailer connector, the lights...

  • Wiring for the Third Brake Light and Dome Light for an ARE Camper Shell on a 2012 Nissan Frontier
When installing a camper shell on a truck, typically, there is not a specific wiring harness for the third brake light and dome light. I am not aware of a wiring harness for a Nissan Frontier that will provide those functions for a camper shell. The installation of a camper shell usually consists of using the appropriate lengths of wire for the third brake light and dome light and splicing them into a corresponding circuit on the truck. It would be best to choose the same size wire, so...
