with these fittings and transmission oil cooler on my 2000 Ford F350 superduty powerstroke diesel has lowered my temps by 15 degrees.
Thanks

I have a 99 Ford F250 4WD 7.3 diesel with 191,000 miles. I am on my 4th transmission. I pull a horse trailer once a year to Colorado or Wyoming from E Texas on an elk hunt. Other than that, maybe a camper or horse trailer hauled to my deer lease 100 miles away. I finally added a temp gauge to the last one. Now I was seeing that my tranny was running around 205 just pulling my trailers up a small grade around my county. Outside temp around 90. I replaced the original Ford cooler with one from Ford. Same results. I did research on my own and stumbled on to Etrailer.com and articles of the Derale 8000. I had this put on by my radiator man. He wanted to mount it above the Ford cooler to get max airflow. He had to fabricate some brackets and use some other hose connectors as the ones furnished didn't fit right. Not a problem for me as this thing has finally solved my problems. I ran the same route with my horses loaded in the trailer(est 6000# total wt). The temp gauge registered 170 to 175. That is a drop of 30 to 35 degrees. I now feel confident when I go to Colorado in a few weeks that I won't be broke down on side of road with overheated tranny and buying another tranny when I return. Etrailer shipped product very fast. I am overly happy regardless of it not just fitting perfect.

I installed the Derale D13503 in series with my existing factory installed auxillary cooler for added protection on my Ford Explorer Sport Trac. With the Sport Trac tranny having the reputation for overheating failure, I took the cooling up a notch! I tow a 7X14 enclosed v-nosed trailer, and now I am protected! It was a very easy install, and the included hardware made it pain-free :-)

As a returning coustomer I can say all my dealings with atrailer have been great.
Great product, price, shipping and the very best coustomer service.
Product fit perfect and preformed as expected.
Will be back in the future when I need products etrailer sells
Thanks

Recommended for the transmission cooler install .... Did not see where it was needed.

by:

Great product at a good price , makes adding a trans cooler easy.
fast shipping too.

by:

Does not work on 99 F250 7.3L. The flare sides of the fittings are to long and deep to use with the existing cooler and fittings.

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler For Early 2009 Ford Flex With 3.5L Non-Eco Boost Engine
For your early 2009 Ford Flex with the 3.5l V6 Non-Eco Boost I recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class III - Efficient # D13503 as it is confirmed to fit your vehicle, and due to its effeciency in cooling the fluid from your transmission. To install the # D13503 you will also need the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury # D13025. I included videos for both of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.

  • Can 2001 Ford F150 Tow a 1997 Prowler TT Weighing 6200 lbs
Determining the maximum towing capacity of a given truck without knowing exactly how the truck is equipped is pretty difficult. I've researched the issue, and found that the tow rating varies according to the rear axle ratio, and whether the vehicle is a 4x2 or 4x4. In my research I found that at the worst case scenario, your truck should be able to tow at least 7300 lbs. I'd recommend you confirm this for yourself by checking the owner's manual or with Ford. There's another way to determine...

  • Recommendation For Transmission Cooling on 1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty With 6.8 Engine
I would recommend to add an aftermarket transmission cooler to your 1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty to prevent any damage to your transmission. The ideal operating temperature range of your transmission fluid should be 160 to 200 degrees. Adding the cooler will not bypass the existing factory cooler which is located inside the radiator. Adding a cooler provides supplemental cooling to the your factory cooler. Transmission coolers are universal fit items. What you will need to do is find out...

  • Which Transmission Cooler And Engine Oil Cooler Will Fit My 2007 Ford F-150 With 4.2 V6?
The best transmission cooler for you is the Derale Series 8000 Plate and Fin Heat Exchanger with Installation Kit # D13504. This is our most popular transmission cooler that we offer and works well with many different vehicles, including your 2007 Ford F-150 with the 4.2 engine. To complete the installation you will want to add Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury # D13025 and Derale Rigid Mounting Kit # D13002. • Supplemental Transmission Cooler and Adapter Fitting for 2000 Ford F-350 with 7.3 L Diesel
We have three plate-fin Derale transmission coolers confirmed to fit your 2000 Ford F-350 with the 7.3 L diesel. The best one for you is going to be the largest that you can fit in the front of your engine compartment so it gets as much air flow as possible. All three for your truck are 11 inches wide a 7/8 inches deep. The difference is the height:: # D13502 is 7-1/4 inches tall # D13503 is 8-3/4 inches tall # D13504 is 12 inches tall Each cooler will also need the Ford adapter fitting,...

  • Recommended Transmission Cooler for 2009 Ford F-150
Both the Derale Transmission Coolers # D13503 and # D13504 referenced in your question are great options for your 2009 Ford F-150. Between the two options, I recommend going with the Derale # D13504, as its slightly larger size will allow for a greater cooling capacity. The unit measures 11 inches wide, 12 inches tall, and 7/8 inches deep. As long as you have the required space behind the grille of your F-150, this cooler will work perfectly. If your F-150 has the 1/2"-20 thread on the...

  • Do Transmission Coolers Install the Same Way on Every Vehicle
Transmission cooler installations are not vehicle specific because transmission coolers themselves are not vehicle specific so they general way they install will be the same. What is different is where you may need to mount the cooler, whether or not you will have to cut and flare lines, and what you might need to move out of the way to install the cooler in the most efficient place. All of these things are different from vehicle to vehicle. The path of the transmission fluid should be...

  • How To Pick Out a Transmission Cooler for a 2008 Ford F-150
If you can fit a bigger transmission cooler than the part # D13502 then I would recommend you do that. Realistically, you can't go too big when it comes to transmission coolers. The biggest one you can fit will be your best option. The part # D13502 measures 11" Wide x 7-1/4" tall x 7/8" deep. If that's the biggest you can fit then I'd go with this one. Otherwise I'd look into a bigger one like the part # D13504 that measures 11" Wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep. I attached an install video...

  • Recommend Transmission Cooler for 2004 Ford Explorer
For your 2004 Ford Explorer the best way to pick out a transmission cooler is to go with the largest one you can fit in front of your radiator. A very popular option is the part # D13503 which measures 11" Wide x 8-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep. You will want to use the fitting part # D13025 to make installing the cooler a bit easier. You will want to run the fluid through your factory cooler and then to the supplemental cooler to maximize the cooling effect.

  • DIY Installation of Transmission Cooler for 2006 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty
Yes, the transmission cooler is a fairly easy-do- it-yourself installation. For your 2006 Ford F-250 or F-350 with a 5.4 liter engine, you can purchase the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings, # D13025 to ease installation. This way you can avoid cutting the original transmission line and flaring the cut ends. For an at-home installation I would allow 2-1/2 to 3 hours or more for the installation. Before ordering you should measure the available space in front of your radiator or air conditioning...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2013 Ford F-150 with 5.0 Liter
With transmission coolers you basically want to go with the largest one you can fit in front of the radiator. A very popular option is the part # D13504 which measures 11" Wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep and would be a great choice. To make the install as easy as possible you would want the part # D13025 which allows the cooler to install without having to cut or flare any lines. The cooler does not attach directly to brackets of your radiator, but with it's push pins it installs very easily.

One of my co-workers here happens to have a 2001 Ford Ranger with 4.0 Liter engine and automatic transmission, so I went out and checked under the hood. The transmission lines are located at the drivers side radiator tank, see photo, and run down, then across to the passengers side before turning back and running to the transmission. • Can I tow a 30 ft Dutchmen Travel Trailer with a 2003 Ford Explorer
To determine if you can tow your 30 ft Dutchmen travel trailer with your 2003 Ford Explorer, you will want to find the towing capacity of your Explorer and compare that to the loaded and ready to tow weight of your trailer. I did some research on your Explorer and found that the Explorer will have different maximum tow ratings depending on how it is equipped. • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2007 Ford F150
The answer to your question is going to depend on how much free real estate you have on the front of the radiator right behind the truck's grille, which is the place where you'll want to install it. Unless you live where it gets and stays below 0°F for most of the winter, you really can't overcool a transmission, so you could go as big as the available space allows (more on that later). If you have 11 x 12 inches of space available, I'd recommend the # D13504 . You'll also need some transmission...

  • Can 2009 Ford F350 With 9300lb Tow Capacity Safely Pull 8100 lb Travel Trailer
Towing capacity, payload and tongue weight are not the same, but are closely related. Towing capacity is pretty self explanatory. It's the maximum trailer weight a vehicle can pull. This can vary according to how the truck is configured and equipped. Payload is the amount of cargo a truck can carry, typically in the bed of the truck. The truck's payload will be reduced by the amount of tongue weight applied by the trailer, as you suspected but the tongue weight won't be deducted from...

First, adding a transmission cooler will not increase the towing capacity of a vehicle unless the manufacturer states that by adding one the towing capacity can be maximized. For the 2002 Ford F150 with 4.2 L V6, it depends on what size transmission line fittings you have.
