Karrier S-Trail Radials with Automotive-Grade Tread

Kenda Karrier S-Trail Tread Vs Standard Tread

Unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the automotive-grade, computer-generated tread on these Karrier S-Trail radials has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. The Karrier S-Trail tread also has sipes. Siping is a process in which thin grooves (or sipes) are cut into the rubber of the tire. The grooves channel water away from the tread so that the tire makes better contact with the road. Both of these features greatly improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.

Karrier S-Trail radials are constructed with double steel belts and full nylon plies for increased durability and endurance. The premium rubber compound materials of this tire help disperse heat.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

In our fast paced world where customer service seems to be a thing of the past, I am always amazed when shopping on etrailer. Prompt service, fast shipping and people who actually follow-up to ensure that you are satisfied!

This should be your one stop location for trailer parts.

Great wheel and tire set. I put a lot of miles on these last season and they are holding up very well.

by:

Had a rough time finding tires this small with a load range E. I found Etrailer.com and found the right size. I purchased 2 and they were very quality and shipped in a box u like previous times I've ordered tires they ship just the tire without box. I ended up purchasing a 3rd tire as a spare and will only deal with etrailer.com from now on

by:

Was sent 22 month old trailer tires and was told by etrailer that they couldn’t help me but I could pay shipping to return them.
Alex in customer service told me that it could take 2 years from the time etrailer ordered the tires to receive.

by:

The tires look fine. Only time will tell how good they are. As for the service from Robert at etrailer...wow, excellently took care of my mistake and delivered the goods as needed. Thanks Robert B.

by:

Wear like iron! Towed to Arizona in 115 degree heat at high speeds. I expected them to be pretty worn by the time I got back, since the OEM tires were almost toast just going to the Keys and back. The Kenda tires still looked almost new. Now after about 10k more miles. They still look great.

by:

They have lasted alot more compare to other tires I have used.

by:

The tires arrived ONE DAY after ordering them. They look good and I am hoping they will perform better than the 'cheap ass trailer tires' I have been using for years. And they have good service and were helpful when ordering.

by:

I needed a quality set of tires for my 1959 Lil Loafer camper trailer, the only tires I could find at any tire shop local to me were bias ply and nothing over a load range D. So needless to say those would wear out real fast and not track very will. These Kenda radials will fill the need perfectly. A load range E 10 ply rating will give me the confidence I need when hitting the road. I had them mounted at a local tire shop and took it out for a test run and they sure help the little trailer track nice. Great tire for a little vintage trailer.

Delivery was fast as well, less than a week. The price is fair with the exception of the Canadian exchange on the US dollar. And the website works smooth for orders, I'll be back for other stuff for sure.

The tires are performing very well. We have a longer trip planned this summer so that will give them a good run, but I’m sure they will be great.

by:

Got the new tires and had them mounted up. Im glad etrailer had a better small tire for my 5x8 trailer. Ive Had other tire shops tell me 4 or 6ply was the only ply available for the small trailer i had and the farm stores only offered the 4 or 6 ply tire.
Etrailer had 10 ply, radial tires for my need that is rated up to 65 mph on the highway and im very happy. Living on a gravel road, and using the small trailer on the farm i would have flat tires all the time with the old weaker 6 ply tires it came with and they wouldnt last very Long if used them on the pavement.

James

9/7/2019

Still going strong. No flats and tread wear is still doing great also. Id say theres only about 1000 miles on them as i dont use the trailer every day but i did use it on my farm where the other tires wouldnt last long before getting a flat from a cut off tree stump or thorns. I will buy again when needed and have told plenty other people about the tires and where to get them.

by:

I had a small 4 x 8 trailer that I beefed up the suspension and framework so that I could haul dirt on it I've been hauling dirt on it for a year now with those tires approximately 2500 to 3,000 pounds

by:

Received tires very quickly after order was placed. E-trailer has never disapointed me yet. Their prices may be slightly higher than other vendors but they more than make up for this with their service.

Robert L.

A+ You cannot go wrong with these tires.

by:

The tires were delivered extremely fast and immediately the quality was noticeable. I recommend this brand and this website 100 percent and after running thru 2 brands in one month these tires saved my business. I will not shop anywhere else for my tires

by:

After two seasons on my tandem axle boat trailer (5100 lb combination) I’ve been very happy with the tires. I have about 5k miles on them and they are holding up nicely. Highly recommend, far better performance than what I got out of the factory supplied tires (tread separated and broken cords after 2 years on factory tires)

by:

I bought this tire because of its Load Range E rating. It has performed well and I would recommend for any trailer that has tire size physical space constraints, yet needs for a greater load rating.

by:

I am 100 percent happy with the tires and rims, they are exactly what I was looking for. In the last year I have purchased 4 new 6 ply bias tires due to the new tires I had purchased the year before blowing out with a load. I purchased the 10 ply radial tires with the new rims for a new look and better reliability. The trailer pulls great and the tires and wheels handle excellent. These are great products that I couldn't find anywhere else. Thanks etrailer.

by:

This is the second pair of these ST 145/12 radial I have purchased for my vintage 1959 Lil Loafer trailer. After taking the first pair on a couple of short trips I realized I did not have a radial spare, only my old bias ply tires. Since I don't want to mix radial and bias I figured I should buy another pair for spares, (in spite of the exchange rate on the Canadian dollar and the cost of shipping to Canada). Still loving these tires in comparison to the bias ply, we are planning a longer trip still this year so that will be a good test.

Oh, I even reused the packaging to protect my bench top while repacking the bearings.

by:

After one year, they're still round and have plenty of tread. No leaks. Decent tires.

by:

Great tire !Replaced the same one I had on my trailer . This tire offers a smooth ride . This is the only tires I would buy and has the best ply and speed rating . Definitely recommend .

by:

I just received the tires today and haven't had them mounted yet so all I can is they look great. Summer before last, we took our pop up camper out West through 18 states in about 60 days. All of our camping up that point had been around Florida where we live, so no long road trips. On our out West trip we had 4 blowouts on our little pop up camper and since we were on the road, we would pick up tire/wheel assemblies from Wal-Mart or Harbor Freight. Did not really know what else to do. Experience has taught us better and that's why I ordered these load range E, 65 mph, 10 ply rating tires. The proof is in the pudding as they say, so in the fall, we will find out how good these tires are and I will write a full review then.

Very happy with these tires. Took another long trip last year, Florida to Maine, back home, then to Alabama, Ga and home. Towed 65 mph. No tire problems at all. What a relief!

by:

I love doing business with e trailer . Customer service is exceptional. Eric is a top notch 5 star customer service representative!

by:

Very good service

by:

Great wearing and dependable tire. Always had issues with nearly new trailer tires blowing out until I switched to these on all four of my trailers, and in thousands of miles have had zero failures.

by:

Got the tire today. Got it mounted. Ready for my trip up north.
It's good!

by:

The tires are gray for my trike. Will not buy from anyone else. Tried other tires but the didn’t last long as the ones I got from Etrailer.

David V.

2/15/2023

The tires are in good shape

David V.

2/15/2023

The tires are great for my motorcycle trike. They last longer than regular 6 ply tires that is why I use the radials.

by:

Tires look so good. They are very sturdy.
Mounted easily.

  • Replacement ST145/R12 Tires
I recommend the Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10140. This tire has a maximum load of 1,520 lbs at 80 psi and a maximum speed of 65 mph. It comes with a 5-year warranty and a 1-year worry free guarantee. If within the first 12 months the tire is damaged in any way, it will be replaced at no charge. If you need a higher speed rating, then I would choose the # AM10130 instead. This has a lower maximum load of 1,220 lbs at 65 psi. The speed rating for this tire is...

The Karrier S-Trail tire you mentioned, part # AM10140 would most likely fit on your trailer. They are about the same diameter as your existing tires, but are about an inch wider. You would want to check the distance between your existing tires and the side of the trailer frame or inside of the fenders to ensure you have proper clearance. This tire is designed for a 12 x 4 inch rim. Most 4.80-12 tires are rated for between 785-990 lbs, while the ST145/R12 tires you mentioned are rated...

The difference in section width between a 5.30-12 and a 145/12 is just 0.1 inches. Only half of that is applied towards the trailer. On wheel and tire combo # AM35354 the wheel is a black mod wheel with a zero offset meaning that the mounting surface of the wheel is in the dead center equal distance from either sidewall. Both tire sizes fit the same wheel size so if you just wanted to go to radial tires then you could use # AM10130 for a load range D rated for 1,220 pounds at 65 psi. Or...

  • Replacement Tires for 12 Inch Rims on Trailer that is Used on Highways and Off-Road
Even though you do ride over bumpy roads part of the time I would still stick with radial tires if they're available in the size you need. And the advantages of a radial tire on the highway will have a great impact over the bias on rough roads. I've linked our selection of tires that fit 12 inch rims.
