Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

I bought this hitch a year ago but I just had the chance to get it installed a few weeks ago. I must say that the hitch looks awesome on my 2012 Nissan Quest. We installed the bike rack the following day and went out on a trail near our house. The only thing I have to be careful out now is the clearance when driving on uneven terrain, getting off higher driveways onto the streets and backing up on parking lots with pylons. The height off the ground is about six inches. But overall, I am satisfied with my purchase. The hitch was a perfect fit. It's a two-man job and a lift is necessary to install it. Madison P from etrailer was very helpful in placing my order. Excellent customer service! Thanks Madison.

2016 Nissan Quest

After trying to find the correct hitch for my wife's Nissan Quest on that big box online site named after that river unsuccessfully, I stumbled upon etrailer. In a matter of minutes, I was able to find a couple of compatible models using their search feature. The best part was their videos, which showed both installations and even had another video that compared the two models, ultimately helping me decide that one was going to be easier to install. Prices were very competitive, and I was able to verify the hitch was in-stock before placing the order. Shipping was quick and product was in great shape when it arrived. I was able to get it installed easily using their videos for reference, and planning to use it for a bike carrier on a trip next week. Thanks etrailer, you guys are awesome!

One year and many long trips later, hitch is still working great. Weve used it primarily for a 4-bike rack, but have also pulled small [rental] trailers with it with no issues. Would definitely buy from etrailer again!

2013 Honda Odyssey

Last year I bought a hitch from etrailer for my Honda Odyssey and it worked out great (only purpose: 5-bike rack), so when we sold that and got a 2013 Nissan Quest, it was natural to turn to etrailer again. A little more expensive for this one, but fast shipping, and pretty easy install. In SoCal, no worry about rusty or corroded threads. The only problem was, the driver/rearmost bolt was not long enough. Driver/middle worked ok and I was trying the other long bolt for driver/rear, but for the life of me I could not get the threads to engage, even with the driver/front/middle both tightened down. In the end I took out the rectangular spacer below the hitch on that bolt (leaving flat and lock-washers), and it went in easy. I'll be monitoring to see if any of the 6 bolts get loose, and if so head down to Lowes to get a 5mm-longer M12x1.25 bolt.

I spoke with my contact at Draw-Tite, and was told that using that particular spacer is required to provide support to the frame member. The hitch includes 6 bolts, and 2 are 55mm long, 4 are 45mm long. If you inadvertently used the shorter bolt in that drivers side rearmost connection, it would explain why the threads wont engage unless that spacer was removed. If you wish, I can have Draw-Tite send you an additional 55 mm bolt so the spacer can be used.

2012 Nissan Quest

I was a little worried at first when this hitch arrived, there wasn't much to the packaging. It was shipped in a clear plastic bag and most of it had some bubble wrap around it(except the ends). I had a hitch in the past arrive bent, but this one didn't have that problem. It arrived with some scratches and dings though, but hey...it's a hitch that's hidden under the car so no big deal.

The product fit perfectly on the 2012 Nissan Quest I installed it on. Very easy installation(6 bolts). You can do it yourself, but if you have someone else help hold it in place, it makes it that much easier. Very well hidden under the minivan. I would recommend this product to others.

Everything is working great. No issues and the hitch has served its purpose well. I would buy from you guys again!

Have you towed a boat with this ?

Andrew A.

I have not towed a boat with this...just various utility trailers. I dont see there being any trouble pulling a smaller boat though. Not sure how big of a boat youre looking at towing.

The bolt holes in the hitch don't line up. Will be returning

This actually can be somewhat common. How far off are the bolt holes? Would you be able to send a picture? It is possible that the side brackets were moved out of alignment during shipping either to us or to you. If they are only off by 0.50 inches, then they can be flexed back into shape. I have an FAQ that can help. Plus, I can see that this hitch is not the easiest installation. I recommend also taking a look at the video install we have on a 2016 Nissan Quest.

by:
2017 Nissan Quest

The hitch worked like a charm. The install was a bit more than I thought. bolts were a bit hard to thread, but once correctly aligned it installed with no problem. I installed the light hitch with a few glitches but once I was able to remove rear lamp lens it installed and work like a charm. My small trailer was great when delivering a compressor to my son in law in Arizona. Thank for a great product, a close friend asked where I purchased it and I sent him straight to your website. I will be needing some other trailer items and now know where to go. Thank you again for a great product.

by:

On time, as described, looks nice and does the work. Awesome!

by:

fit was great. Just some advice: to no fault of etrailer but those metric bolts like to cross thread so start by hand if your gonna use a drill.

2012 Nissan Quest

This fits great on my 2012 nissan quest and would have been easier to install if it didn't have to go find a 1.25 x 12 tap to clean the weld bolts. I spent a lot of time trying to clean the threads with a bore brush from my gun cleaning kit. Not going to fault etrailer for my bolts being rusted. I recommend taping the weld bolts to clean them it will save you alot of time.

by:

I am very pleased with this hitch and how easy it was to install. I watched the installation video on YouTube several times and was able to bolt it up quickly with some help from a friend. Furthermore, etrailer delivered on time and has been an excellet company to deal with. Thanks!

2011 Nissan Quest

Nice and very well built, fits perfectly, just a small complaint, one bolt came wrong but local hardware has everything, and on the wire kit the sticker to attach the electrical box inside the driver side tail light didn’t came also, but noting major, I recommend and will buy from etrailer again for sure.

by:
2014 Nissan Quest

Buy a 12x1.25 tap before you crawl underneath, especially if you're from a northern state.. It works really well to clean out the road salt, rust ,and gunk in the bolt holes.
The hitch itself fit great and looks good. It took some wiggiling around to get all the bolts to line up,and the driver's side spacers to stay in place.
Two jackstands and a floor jack will help hold the hitch in place if you don't have a strong helper. Doing the installation on the garage floor wasn't too bad.Doing it on a lift would be much easier.

by:
2012 Nissan Quest

The hitch went in great. They attached links to videos on how to install which was really helpful. I didn't have to hunt through multiple online videos on my own to find one that was helpful and for the correct year of my van.
The only problem I had was the bolt holes that weren't previously used were rusted so bad that I had a very hard time getting the new bolts to thread. I used an impact wrench and wound up stripping the old bolt cleaning out the rusted threads.

by:

The hitch itself is well made and fits properly. The supplied mounting hardware package was not correct. Two of the bolts had incorrect pitch and the supplied fuse was the wrong style. This required two separate trips to the hardware store and automotive parts store. If the correct parts were supplied the install would have taken about an hour.

by:

Great product for the super price and the installation so easy,
Can’t go wrong
Definitely Would buy another one if a need it.

by:

Great shopping experience! The pictures and instructions on how to install and how it looked on the specific vehicle I had helped me confirm it was the right part for me. It showed up when they said it would and great condition.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch And 4-Bike Carrier For 2015 Nissan Quest
The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2015 Quest is the Draw-Tite Max Frame, part # 75714. This is a Class lll trailer hitch and it has a 2-inch receiver opening. This trailer hitch when installed on a 2015 Quest has a distance of 4-inches form the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the rear bumper which is important when considering any accessory for the hitch. The bike carrier I recommend for you is the Yakima FullSwing, part # Y02465. The nice thing about this carrier is that...

Of the three Class III hitches offered for your 2014 Nissan Quest (please see the link provided for you) only one hitch, the Curt # C13078, is rated for use with weight distribution. • Mounting Bolts Supplied with Draw-Tite Hitch 75714 Seem Too Large for 2012 Nissan Quest
The hardware supplied with the Draw-Tite Hitch # 75714 for the 2012 Nissan Quest is specific to your vehicle. It may be that the threads in the weld nuts on the frame are dirty. It is not uncommon for road dirt to find its way into the threads and accumulate, making it difficult to get the bolts started. You can try using a spray-on penetrating rust remover like WD40 and a brush such as part # DW00254 to clean out any debris from the threads, as shown in the linked installation video....

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Hitch That Does Not Line Up to Bolt Holes on Nissan Quest
The issue you described when trying to install the Draw-Tite Class III Trailer Hitch # 75714 on your Nissan Quest actually isn't terribly uncommon. Because trailer hitch mounting brackets are made from mild steel (which allows them to flex with the vehicle's frame during travel) the hitch can sometimes bend/flex during the shipping process. The bend can be just enough to prevent the brackets from lining up perfectly with existing holes on the vehicle's frame. There are a few different...

The Draw-Tite Class III receiver you mentioned, part # 75714 would be an excellent choice for towing a PWC with your 2012 Nissan Quest. My research indicates that the towing capacity of your Quest is most likely 3500 lbs, which is plenty of capacity for towing a PWC. I would recommend you confirm the towing capacity by consulting your owners manual or by contacting Nissan.
