Yakima HandCuff optional lock for RidgeBack and SwingDaddy bike racks

The Yakima HandCuff is an accessory kit that includes everything you need to add a cable lock to your RidgeBack or SwingDaddy bike rack. And it comes with a second SKS core for your rack's SpeedKnob so that you can make the locks keyed alike.

Custom Lock for Yakima RidgeBack and SwingDaddy Bike Racks

Yakima RidgeBack and SwingDaddy precut slot for HandCuff lock

Your RidgeBack or SwingDaddy bike rack comes from the factory ready to accept the HandCuff mounting panel. Simply remove the flat panel on the rack with the included Allen key and replace it with the HandCuff panel.

Yakima HandCuff stores in upright mast

Once you've removed the panel, simply insert the cable lock and its mounting panel into the slot on your rack. Use the included Allen key to tighten the panel in place.

Yakima HandCuff includes replacement endcap

The HandCuff's lock fits onto the included replacement endcap. The endcap contains a post that accepts the locking mechanism to secure the cable. To install it, just remove an endcap from your rack and replace it with the HandCuff endcap.

Same Key Convenience

Yakima HandCuff includes extra SKS core

The HandCuff also includes an extra SKS lock core that's keyed identically to the cable lock. This extra core makes it possible to swap out the core on your rack's locking SpeedKnob so you only need 1 key to lock your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle.

The bike lock in conjunction with the Yakima bike rack works great--it was easy to install and works perfectly. I love the fact that one key works everything.

Its great I love the integrated locking system and I use it four to five times each week!

Works as advertised

A must for securing the safety of your bikes when they are on the Yakima rack. Well thought out design…plus the ability to have the bike rack and bike lock be keyed alike cuts down on key clusters and confusion. One key for both locking the rack to the hitch and for locking the cable that locks the bike frames to the rack. Delighted to be able to have them keyed alike…I recommend this feature.

I’m very pleased with this item and it’s a great accessory. I am particularly pleased that the lock can match the lack of my Bike rack. I feel like my bike is always secure.

I’m very pleased with this product. So glad I purchased it.

by:

Worked as advertised. Glad to be able to keep my bike secured

by:

The lock came taped to the hitch I also ordered, but I had no idea that it was in there, til I opened the hitch box & unpacked it. That almost caused me to email etrailer to ask where it was. Lock works well, but the last foot does have issues going back into the SwingDaddy, sometimes. Not sure if it’s getting twisted or kinked, but it is very nice that it hides inside the Yakima. Even with that last foot being a small pain, I’d still get it again.

by:

The product was as described the instructions for the installation was really good it’s fits perfect.

Lock system continues to work great

by:

Wow. I search and search online for the right solution and deal. In the end I tried etrailer for helping conclude my search and buy. The Customer Service Rep was patient and proactive in helping me get all the right combinations of equipment for my needs. Including buying third party accessories elsewhere. In the end I bought everything through them. I was grateful. And man my assembly was cake! Thanks etrailer.com. You all probably the best source for choice and assistance and easy purchase and delivery all combined.

by:

The hand cuff cable lock was simple to install and convenient to use. I like the way it stores within my Yakima bike rack, making it one less thing for me to forget or lose!

by:

Yakima swing daddy. Sturdy and easy to assemble. Haven't used it yet, but it looks like it will take anything we throw at it. Bought it use on both F250 and 4-runner.

by:

Great firm to do business with. Correspondence was very timely. Shipping was as promised and the product is great. I am more than satisfied and will do business with etrailer again.

Perfect and easy to install as advertised !

by:

I would get this... Keeps the honest man honest!!! I like mine and it was easy to install. Reading the directions and installing probably took 1/2 hour. If I had to do it again, ten minutes.

by:

They provided the correct parts the first time as opposed to others who just don't get it right. Great customer service and great following up after the sale.

by:

Easy to install. Works well with the product. Not as secure a lock as I would have hoped, but should suffice as a deterrent for most short-term purposes

  • Swing-Away Style Bike Rack Options for a 2011 Toyota FJ Cruiser
The RockyMounts BackStage 2 Bike Platform Rack # RKY10002 fits the exact description of what you are looking for in a bike rack to carry 2 bikes on your 2001 Toyota FJ Cruiser. It has the ability to tilt, swing-away, can fold up, and comes with hitch and bike locks to deter theft of your equipment. Since trailer hitch receiver locations and spare tire width can vary you will want to measure from the center of your hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of your spare tire. If that measurement...

  • Hitch and Bike Carrying Options for 2021 Honda CR-V and Civic Type R
I'm assuming by 'new CR-V' you're meaning a 2020 or 2021 model. I'd recommend the Curt Class III hitch, part # C13397 which is a partially concealed hitch. The hitch crosstube is concealed behind the bumper, the only visible portion of the hitch would be the receiver tube and he safety chain hooks. For a 5-bike rack, I'd recommend the Yakima Ridgeback 5, part # Y02459. The Ridgeback is a high quality bike rack that's very easy to use. The rack provides features like a locking anti-rattle...

I've linked out hitch mounted 4-bike racks for you. The RidgeBack carries up to 4 bikes and fits on a Class II or Class III trailer hitch receiver. The Yakima RidgeBack 4-Bike Rack # Y02458 is absolutely compatible and a fantastic choice for a 2020 Kia Telluride. When we installed a trailer hitch on a 2020 Telluride, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13420, we found that it was 4-1/2 inches from the hitch pin hole to clear the bumper, and the RidgeBack is a full 9-1/2 inches from the pin to the closest part of the rack, so you will have more than enough clearance to use the rack. The RidgeBack is a premier 4-bike rack because it...

  • How to Remove the Yakima HandCuff Bike Lock # Y02466 from a Bike Rack to Install on New Rack
Basically to remove the Yakima HandCuff Bike Lock # Y02466 from a bike rack you will have to remove the single bolt that holds the assembly to the rear of the upright mast of the rack. If you fast forward to the 4:00 mark of the video I attached you will see how it gets removed. You will need the special allen wrench from Yakima that comes with this lock to loosen this bolt. From that point forward of the rack it shows how it will install into your new rack as well.

The racks share many similarities as far as capacities and design goes, but in a nutshell I'd consider the # Y02458 RidgeBack to be an upgraded version of the # YA44FR BackRoad. The RidgeBack has several upgrades that make it easier to use, such as the speed knob anti rattle system which provides a locking knob at the front of the rack that takes all the slack out of the hitch/rack connection versus the threaded hitch pin on the BackRoad that you'll need to use a wrench to install/remove....

  • Is the Yakima HandCuff Cable Lock Really Effective?
The idea behind the Yakima HandCuff Cable Lock for RidgeBack and SwingDaddy Bike Racks # Y02466 is to deter the theft of your bikes, not to completely eliminate the threat. It might be tempting for someone who is walking by your bike rack to steal it, but they might abandon that feeling when they see the cable lock. Unfortunately, if a thief wanted to steal anything, there is really no absolute deterrent from the crime occurring.

  • How is the Yakima RidgeBack Bike Rack Secured in the Vehicle's Receiver Hitch
The Yakima RidgeBack 4 Bike Rack, # Y02466, uses the SpeedKnob locking system to secure the rack into the vehicle's receiver hitch. The wedge is held on with Allen head screws, but with the shank in the hitch it would be impossible to remove. When tighten, the Yakima SpeedKnob can be locked to deter theft. When lock the knob will free spin.
