Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Arrived on time. Checked for parts all there. Installed it myself took 1hour and 30 minutes start to finish. A perfect fit very pleased with it. Would highly recommend the product and the company I purchased it from

Easy installation works great and it is staying tight to the frame. ??

Product arrived in a timely manner and fit like a glove! Only complaint for me was chipped paint and rub marks that made it appear used!

by:
2001 Ford Escape

Great product, great price, was easy to install, put it on the same day I received it. Used it the very next day. Installed it on my 2001 Ford Escape. I will buy again for my next tow hitch.

Great Hitch, very easy to install by oneself. Outstanding Customer Service

2003 Ford Escape

Speedy delivery. Good customer service. The hitch went on easily with the help of the instructions and how-to videos. This was my first hitch install and I was done in 30 min. Highly recommended!

Ford Escape

This is a great product, it is well made and fits perfectly. My order arrived in good time and everything was in good condition. The installation is fairly easy, the hardest part was fish wiring the bolts and plates into the frame. On my Ford Escape, the rear bumper is very close to the end of the frame so there is not much room to work with. Once the bolts were in place, it was easy. I ordered the wiring kit and that was a simple installation. One tip for the wiring kit - don't read the instructions that come with it, instead watch the video on this website, it is much clearer and easier.

I did order 2 locking hitch pins and they both came with the same key number, which is great. Either the person picking the order made sure they were both the same key or we just got lucky!

If you want a good quality hitch at a great price, you can't go wrong with this one. It looks great on the car and we are already towing the boat with it.

2003 Ford Escape

Intend this for my "03 Ford Escape
Delivery
was quick - and free.
The hitch is solid.
Problem is...the "receiver" is 2" and the bar and ball saved from my older Escape is Inch and a quarter (or is it inch and a half?)
Yes, there is a 2" bar - but it's over $40 plus shipping.
I wish this had been clear when I ordered.

We do indeed mention several times on the product description page that this hitch features a 2 inch receiver opening.

First time buying a hitch, I felt I got my moneys worth, very easy to install and very sturdy. Looks great to!

very sturdy product

Arrived fast and installed easily - almost like I knew what I was doing! I found that inserting the fish wires backwards then installing the plate and bolt was easier for me.

2004 Ford Escape

Service from etrailer.com was beyond EXCELLENT. I received notice of shipment within hours of placing the order. They even upgraded the shipping to 3-5 days without any extra cost. I ordered the entire installation kit... hitch, receivers and wiring for my 2004 Ford Escape. The hitch installation was a bit on the tricky side only because you have to fish the bolts up through the frame. Once they were in place bolting up the hitch itself was a piece of cake. 5 stars for customer service.

by:
2003 Ford Escape

Ordered this hitch for my 2003 ford Escape. Placed order Sunday eve standard shipping and received wed. Very happy with the product. Drove the rear wheels up on ramps and installed in about 35 min. Slightly difficult by myself but is possible if you hold one side with you foot! I ordered the bolt guide wire which was to lose but twisted it to tighten the spring end so there was no chance of the carriage bolt getting stuck. The wiring loom was plug and play. Whole install hitch and wiring took 1 hour with the help of you tube video.

by:
2002 Ford Escape

I purchased my hitch and it arrived in the time frame that was estimated on their site. The printed instructions are the only part of the packaging that was disappointing, as the print was small and the diagrams were very light and not easy to read. I gave up on the paper and went to YouTube where i found an extremely helpful video for a 2002 Ford Escape. I did the install myself and it took about an hour. Otherwise the hitch is a homerun and I'm very pleased with your product and service. I would highly recommend your company to anyone in the market for a hitch.
Thank you!

2003 Ford Escape

I was surprised how easy it was to install the trailer hitch and the wiring harness.
It has worked great and saved me over $150. The pictures really helped.

by:

Install was so easy! I had never installed one and was a little nervous at first, but I was amazed by how well it went. I pull a pop up camper and a utility trailer quite often, very pleased with this hitch!

by:

I installed the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer hitch receiver in my Ford Escape 2002. It was very easy to install and high quality product.

by:
2002 Mazda Tribute

This was awesome to install and worked quite well on a 1000mile trip with over 300 pounds of tongue weight on it. I haven't done the light install yet but the trailer hitch went on beautifully, shipping was awesome as well! So quick to get it. I was pleasently surprised.

by:
Mazda Tribute

Shipped quickly. The install went very smoothly. I did get a pleasant surprise with this unit. Our Mazda Tribute had the factory 1 and 1/4 inch receiver installed so I thought I would need to remove it before installing this 2 inch. The instruction sheet showed installing the 2 inch under the factory hitch and that made the install process much easier. Also the kit included the 7/16" bolt leader (4 ea) so I didn't really need to purchase the one I bought with the unit. The hitch looks and works great.

2003 Ford Escape

It works great!

by:
2003 Ford Escape

Excellent product. Exact fit. Pre drilled holes made it easy for this 67 year old woman to install. Good quality. I also ordered the light kit for my 2003 Ford Escape. Easy to install with provided instructions.

by:
2003 Ford Escape

The check-out process and shipping experience was positive. I believe the hitch receiver came within about 3-4 days after ordering it (no special options for shipping were selected). It seems really solid and all necessary pieces of hardware are intact. It has been confirmed that it is the proper match to my 2003 Escape. Just debating on whether I want to cough up the money to pay U-Haul to put it in or wait until the everlasting MI winter finally graces us with some warmer weather so I can install it at home or have someone do it here. All in all, a positive experience. I'll get back to you once it is actually installed and utilized for a user review.

by:
2004 Ford Escape

Was fairly simple to install, I was very impressed with the build quality based on the price point. I have used it several times towing and have no complaints! Highly recommend!

by:
2003 Ford Escape

Product is solid and arrived very quickly. I'm satisfied with the purchase overall, but fishing wires should be longer. Other reviews mentioning how these are too short are extremely accurate. It's almost impossible to pull the blot through with this line without removing your bumper on a 2003 Ford Escape (which has no heat shield to remove and modify btw). I had to use pliers to twist two of the fishing lines together to make feeding the bolt through manageable. Bottonline is that the hitch is great, but the included fishing lines should be longer to make installation easier for the consumer.

  • Trailer Hitch Compatible with 2001 Ford Escape and 2008 Ford Escape
A trailer hitch like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13506 is a fit for a 2001 Ford Escape. This will only fit Escapes through model year 2004. For your 2008 Ford Escape I recommend the etrailer - Matte Black Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # e56AR. This will fit 2005 to 2011 models.

  • How to Determine the Correct Ball Mount to Tow a Trailer with a 2004 Ford Escape
You would not necessarily need a ball mount with a rise. It all depends on what is needed to make the trailer and vehicle as level as possible when the trailer is connected to the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 75118. The recommended ball mount is # C45010. It has a 3/4-inch rise and 2-inch drop. There are 2 measurements you will need to take in order to determine the correct ball mount and rise or drop that will be needed. First, park your 2004 Ford Escape on level ground. Then you would...

  • What Tool Should be Used to Trim the Heat Shield for Trailer Hitch Install on a 2001 Ford Escape
Trimming the heat shield to install a trailer hitch on your 2001 Ford Escape does not require a special tool. If you have some tin snips/aviator sheers that is all you will need. If you do not have any you can get some pretty cheap at a hardware store or you might be able to borrow some from an auto parts store or any place that loans out tools. Maybe a neighbor has some you could borrow since these are common tools. I have linked the instructions and a video that shows a typical installation...

You will also have to drill a hole on both sides of the frame rail. The instructions also warn not to use both hitches at the same time to prevent damage to the vehicle.
