Video Transcript for Redline Trailer Brakes 5-8 Review

Today we're going to review part number 5-8. This is the lock washer for the 7/16 size brake mounting bolt for 7 inch and 10 inch brake assemblies. This part is made to work with the other parts that we sell separately. This is the 7/16 size brake mounting bolt which is part number 7-75. It is sold separately. It is listed on this product page as a related product.

The lock washer is made to go on there, and also the other piece that we sell separately, it's made to go with is the mounting nut for the brake assembly for 7 and 10 inch brake assemblies. It's part number 6-17 and that's made to screw on to the . and all 3 of those pieces again are sold separately. That should do it for part number 5-8. This is the lock washer for the 7/16 size brake mounting bolt for 7 inch and 10 inch brake assemblies..

Had to order these separately...the brake kit should come with these.

Very courteous and professional. Timing of shipment is awesome. If delays in shipping, the company maintains updates to the company.
Very professional staff. We are very pleased with this company.

by:

One of the brake assemblies came short two mounting bolts. Installing them tomorrow.

by:

I purchased electric brake parts for a tow dolly. The staff at etrailer guided me thru the selection process and offered a perfect solution. It is nice to have a company like etrailer and their staff of true professionals. Everything had been absolutely perfect one year after install and expect many more years of service from these components. Thanks etrailer.

by:

I bought for these brake assemblies. Installation was straight forward and after a year of use and about 3500 miles, they spray to be performing well. My only concern is one of the four occasionally sticks which heats up that wheel. Backing up a short distance seems to release it, but I'd like to feel more confident that it's working correctly.

by:

Hardware was correct and they worked fine for my brake assemblies.

by:

Hydraulic trailer drum brakes. Received within a few days. Easy to install, not that complicated. Needed a second person to help bleed the brakes.

by:

The 5-8 lock washers for the four bolt brake mounting flange are an excellent replacement on my 1997 Coleman Fleetwood Bayports popup camper that I am close to finishing a restoration process on. They fit perfectly! Very happy to purchase an excellent product from the fastest shipper I have ever come across. I am blown away by the professionalism with this company!
Thanks

  • Recommended Hub And Drum for Electric Brakes With 4 On 4 Bolt Pattern For 1973 Scamp Trailer
The hub we offer that will work with electric brakes and has a 4 on 4 bolt pattern, is part # 8-173-16UC3. You are correct that this hub and drum will only work with 7 inch x 1-1/4 inch brakes. The bearings, races, and seals are included with this assembly. I have attached a product review video for this hub/drum you can check out. The electric brakes that will work with this drum is designed for axles rated up to 2,000 lbs. The brakes have a 4 bolt mounting flange. For the right hand(passenger...

  • What is Brake mounting Bolt # 7-75 Made Of
The brake mounting bolt # 7-75 is just made of steel. If you can find a galvanized or stainless bolt with the same threads (bolt size is 7/16-20 and length is 1-1/4 inches) you could use it. Check a local hardware store. Bring one of the old bolts with you so you are sure to get a good match. If you go with these steel bolts the matching nut is # 6-17 and the lockwasher is # 5-8.

  • Replacement 10x2-1/4 Inch Electric Trailer Brakes
The mounting studs on trailer brake assembly # K23-478-00 are 7/16 inch requiring the 7/16 inch nut # 6-17. You would also want to use lock washer # 5-8. This is a standard size for 10x2-1/4 inch brakes. The outer diameter of the nuts is larger of course so it is not surprising that the wrench you used was larger.

  • Parts Needed to Add Electric Brakes to a Utility Trailer with a 3500 Lbs Axle and Brake Flanges
You will need several items to add electric brakes to your Carry-On Utility trailer. Starting with the trailer you will need a hub and drum that matches the bearings and seal on your trailer spindle and your wheel bolt pattern. The only way to be sure is to check the bearing part numbers and seal part number, but with a 3,500 lbs Dexter axle that has brake mounting flanges you will most likely have the # L44649 Outer and # L68149 inner bearings and # 58846 seal. If these are the correct...

Thank you so much for providing your axle details. I spoke to my contact at Lippert and he confirmed that your 3500 lb Lippert spring axle will use standard 10" x 2.25" brake assemblies. So, the Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Kit, # 23-26-27, will work with your Starcraft AR-One 18QB Travel Trailer. The mounting bolts, nuts & adjuster plugs are included with this kit, but you will also need 4 lock washers, # 5-8. A helpful tool to have on hand is the brake adjustment spoon, # W80630, which...

This comes with the bearings, seals, and races, and has EZ Lube spindles, making it easier to keep the system lubed up. The difference between the Titan Galphorite Uni-Servo Hydraulic Trailer Brake Assembly part # T4445300, and the Titan Galphorite Free-Backing Hydraulic Trailer Brake Assembly part # T4423500, is that that part # T4423500 is a Free-Backing brake assembly. However, we sell the Dexter brake kit # K23-463-00, so we can confirm the brakes are not self-adjusting. If you would like to install self-adjusting brakes, you'll have to adjust them once during the initial install, but after that, they will self-adjust. Selecting correct hydraulic drum brake assemblies for your tandem axle trailer requires matching brakes to the axle capacity, the size of your hub/drums (please see linked photo) and to the type of brake flange on your spindles. The linked page will show you all hydraulic drum brakes we offer which are suited to axle capacities from 2500 to 15,000-lbs. You are correct, the # 84 spindle parts do interchange to 3,500 lb Hayes axles, as long as it is not a boat trailer axle, so you can use the Dexter parts on these axles. The spindle and hub parts for this application are standard parts that are still used in production, so they should be around for a long time to come. The Dexter 8-91 hub would have a 4 lug on 4 inch bolt circle and would use L44649 bearings, so I'd recommend checking to see if your existing bearings have the same reference number. I've linked you to an FAQ article that shows exactly what you'll need to add electric brakes to your pop-up camper. Your existing axle would need to have brake mounting flanges mounted on each end behind where the hub would sit. The flanges provide a spot for the brake assemblies to bolt in place. If you don't...

The hardware needed for securing the brake flanges of the Titan Disk Brake Kit # T4843800 are not included as typically the axle has them already. If not we have the part # 7-75 which would be the correct bolt size. For a lockwasher you'd want part # 5-8 and if you do need a nut for the backside of the bolt part # 6-17. With the P3 you would not need to use the adapter part # T4846000. It is designed to work with the EOH brakes without the need for an adapter.
