Recommended Hub And Drum for Electric Brakes With 4 On 4 Bolt Pattern For 1973 Scamp Trailer
Question:
Question about trailer brakes. I want to add electric brakes to a 75 Scamp that has 13 inch wheels 4 on 4. Your product descriptions are very complete, helpful! But I can not find any hubs for 4 on 4 except the 7 inch. The ten inch brakes seem better and would fit my 13 inch wheelsbut can not find anything by 5 lug hubs. Yes, the 10 inch brakes are rates 3500 lbs, more than I need but they seem a better design. Any suggestions? I am also in process of replacing the Dexter flex/torsion axle to improve suspension and to include a brake mounting flange. I think I will have to go through Dexter to get the torsion axle and then will know wheel bearing specs etc. The torsion axles seem a bit too specific for you to handletoo bad. Your many comments and videos are a great help on many projects!

The hub we offer that will work with electric brakes and has a 4 on 4 bolt pattern, is part # 8-173-16UC3.
You are correct that this hub and drum will only work with 7 inch x 1-1/4 inch brakes. The bearings, races, and seals are included with this assembly. I have attached a product review video for this hub/drum you can check out.
The electric brakes that will work with this drum is designed for axles rated up to 2,000 lbs. The brakes have a 4 bolt mounting flange. For the right hand(passenger side), the part number is # 23-48, and for the left hand(driver's side), the correct brake assy is part # 23-47. These are designed to work safely for a trailer weighing up to 2,000 lbs and should work well for you.
The bolts, washers and adjustment plugs are sold separately. For those items you can order part # 7-75 for the bolts, part # 5-8 for the washers, 6-17 for the nuts, and part # BP10-220 for the adjuster plugs.
We do not offer torsion axles.
