Whether you are talking about the 12 volt power wire from a 4-Way powered converter or the 12 volt circuit from a 4- to 7-Way adapter, such as # 37185, they both connect to the vehicle positive battery terminal.
It sounds like you are talking about the 7-Way so for it you will need a 40 amp circuit breaker, # PK54540, and enough wire, # 12-1-1, to reach from the front of the vehicle to the rear. Since hitch adapters like what you have generally aren't rated for RV use and best case scenario cut the tongue weight capacity of the hitch they are installed in by 50 percent I would not recommend the use of a Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Carrier part # RM-195225 with on.

We have not had a vehicle here to allow us to produce an installation video for this particular wiring harness, Curt # C56330, in the 2013 Dodge Journey. However, since this is a plug-in harness its installation will be quite similar to that of many other comparable products from Curt and other brands. Finding the stop light wire to connect to a brake controller can be tricky depending on the vehicle. Especially if there is very little space in which to work. You will start by locating the brake light switch under the dash and above the brake pedal. There should be several wires running to it. I have included a picture that shows what it might look like.

To install the Prodigy RF in a vehicle and use the part # ETBC7 is pretty easy as you only have to run the black wire from the 7-way to the positive terminal of the battery. Here are the connections we made to get his trailer wiring harness, # C59496, working correctly. The trailer hitch that is both the most hidden and has the best ground clearance for your 2014 Dodge Journey is the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76225. The reason for this is because it has a fully concealed crosstube and installing it requires cutting the fascia, as you can see by the accompanying photo. The way this installs makes the receiver sit up higher compared to other hitches, including the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12134 you referenced.
