Helpful Expert Reply:
The trailer hitch that is both the most hidden and has the best ground clearance for your 2014 Dodge Journey is the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76225. The reason for this is because it has a fully concealed crosstube and installing it requires cutting the fascia, as you can see by the accompanying photo. The way this installs makes the receiver sit up higher compared to other hitches, including the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12134 you referenced.
I definitely recommend the Draw-Tite # 76225 for your '14 Journey not only because it gives you the best ground and bumper clearance of any hitch that fits your vehicle but because it is also a Class III, 2" hitch which means if you are using this hitch for accessories such as a bike rack or cargo carrier you will have more - and higher quality - options. I have added a link to a video install of this hitch for you to check out as well.
If you plan on towing you will need a wiring harness to power your trailer lights, and the correct fit for your 2014 Dodge Journey is the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118536 if your Journey has LED tail lights or T-One Harness # 118567 if you have incandescent tail lights. I have added links to video installs of both harnesses for you to check out.
