Nice quality. Easy to install. Flexible

by:

Exactly what I was looking for. It was difficult to find shorter cables rated for my trailer but etrailer had them. Shipping got delayed in route by the carrier and etrailer was quick to notify me. Couldn't ask for better service on this order.

by:

This product worked great. Didn't have a place to connect the safety cables. Wrapped these around the frame at the bumper.

by:

This is very well made and the coating covering the cable is very tough. The connectors are much bigger than you may realize but are also very well made and work smoothly. I dont think you will be dissapointed.

  • Quick Links Needed for 10,000 lb Trailer
Sounds like you're looking for the Blue Ox 1/2" Quick Link for Safety Chains # BX229-0512. This is designed for the Blue Ox Safety Cables # BX88197 and # BX88208 which are rated for 10,000 lbs, but it will work with any other type of chain or cable as well.

  • Where Do 3' Baseplate Safety Cables/Quick Links Get Installed
Cables like the Blue Ox 3' Permanent Base Plate Safety Cables # BX88208 can be used in two ways. If they came with a Blue Ox baseplate then you're supposed to wrap them around the frame and connect them to the baseplate as an added safety precaution in the event that the baseplate became detached from the frame of the vehicle. There would be a section in the installation instructions for the baseplate that goes over how to install them in this way. The other possibility is that with some...

  • Where to Install Safety Cables on Jeep Off Road Bumper When Using D-Ring Adapters
When using D-ring adapters to flat tow your Jeep like what it sounds like you're doing, safety cables will generally just need to be attached to the vehicle's frame. What you can do is use some short cables to wrap around each frame rail and then hold them together with quick links. You can then attach the safety cables from the RV to the quick links. I recommend using the Blue Ox Safety Cables # BX88208, as it includes two 3 foot long cables and 4 quick links. They feature a 10,000 pound...

  • Where to Attach Safety Cables on a Jeep Wrangler Being Flat Towed Using D-Rings on a Bumper
The short answer is anywhere that you can! You may need to get some short cables to wrap around each frame rail then hold them together with quick links and attach the safety cables from the RV to the quick links. Set # BX88208 is a great option because it comes with two 3-foot long cables and 4 quick links.

  • Recommended Safety Chains For A 7,000 Pound Tandem Axle Trailer
The rating listed for a single chain, like the Curt # C80031 at 5,000 pounds of capacity, will double when two are used. So the # C80031 used as a pair will mean you would have 10,000 pounds of capacity. With that said, I am not a huge fan of the S-Hook design as it can be a pain to get the rubber retainer band piece over the hooks when it's cold out and they can break as well. If you are wanting something that has good capacity and has clevis hooks, which I prefer, check out the Reese...

  • Dimensions And Capacities Of Blue Ox 3 Foot Safety Cables # BX88208
On the Blue Ox 3 Foot Safety Cables - 10,000 lbs - Qty 2 # BX88208, I reached out to my contact at the manufacturer and the 10,000 lb rating is for each cable. This is not rated on what they are able to tow. They don't have a rating for working load because these cables are only intended for use in the emergency situation. They couldn't give me a break strength rating. I went out to our warehouse and measured the Quick Links for you. They are 1/2 inch in diameter and have an opening...

  • Quick Link Needed for 7,600 lb Safety Chains
The Blue Ox 1/2" Quick Link # BX229-0512 that you referenced is perfect for use with the 7,500 lb Blue Ox safety chains # BX88197 or # BX88208. This quick link has a 10,000 lb weight capacity so it will not limited the capacity of your safety chains. If you are needing a quick connect for a different application then I recommend the Safety Chain Quick Link # C82932 which is rated for 16,500 lbs and has a 3,300 lb safe working load limit. Both parts come in a quantity of 1 so you need...

  • How To Attach Safety Cables/Chains When Using The Curt Tow Bar # C19745
Safety chains/cables shouldn't actually be attached to the tow bar # C19745 at all. The point is to have an alternative point of security in the event that any connection point of the tow bar fails and you have a loose vehicle on the road. The Curt Tow Bar with Adjustable-Width Arms # C19745 is a very old-school design that was originally used with metal bumpers and people would just wrap the chains around the bumper and loop it up to the tow vehicle. I recommend finding a point on the...

  • Recommended Tow Bar For 2009 Jeep Unlimited With Off-Road Front Bumper
I would be happy to help! Since you will be installing the Blue Ox Aftermarket Off-Road Bumper Adapter for 7/8" pins # BX88357 on your 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited I recommend going with the Blue Ox Alpha 2 Non-Binding Tow Bar # BX7380. This tow bar has a 6500lb weight rating which is more than enough for your Jeep, and its non-binding design allows you to quickly and easily unhook the tow bar even on uneven terrain making it perfect for camping on rough terrain.
