Video Transcript for Review of Superwinch Electric Winch - Portable Winch - SW1140222

Michael: Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at the Winch2Go Portable Winch by Superwinch. This is going to be a really nice portable winch. It is lightweight and compact enough that you can transport it where you need it and set it up, different locations, depending on what you need when. Or you can also mount it permanently inside your trailer or any other convenient location. It's not going to take up much room, it's nice and compact and organized.

All the equipment that you're going to get can fit inside this toolbox housing, so it's going to be a very nice option for you if you're using a winch in different locations, you don't want it permanently mounted, or if you do want a permanent mounting location that's going to be compact and organized.Inside the housing here, we are going to have our 4,000 pound capacity winch, so it's going to be able to pull 4,000 pounds. It's mounted onto this yellow plate here, so it's going to give us a sturdy foundation if we did want to screw it down, mount it in place or just to give us connection points, obviously to give it some stability when we're winching. This does have a 1.4 horsepower motor with a gear ratio of 166 to one, so it's going to give us plenty of power. We do have a 50 foot, 3/16th inch wire rope, so it's going to reach out to about 50 feet and be plenty strong for us when we're winching our ATVs or cars, whatever it is that we are using our winch to pull up.We also have our free spool clutch here, so if we turn that yellow dial to the disengaged portion we can pull our wire rope out as fast as we need it and then re-engage it so that we can start using the winch to pull that in, so we're not going to have to wait on our remote to slowly let that wire rope out. It's going to let us pull that out as fast as we need to.On the back side, we do have built in disconnects, so it's going to be very easy to hook up our power cords.

These are a 10 foot six gauge connector that will run out to your battery. It's got the alligator clips here, so it's going to be very easy to get hooked up to your battery that you're using to power this up. And then that plug there will just fit into a port on the bottom. And then we also have a 10 foot handheld remote that's going to allow us to be at a safe distance while we're operating our winch, so if something we're to kick back at us would be far enough away, and that's just going to plug in right there at the top. Both have these covers to make sure that they stay protected from the elements while we're out, if it's raining or whatever the case may be.We're also going to get a lot of other materials with this, and like I said, they're all going to fit inside this box.

So we are going to get two of these six foot straps that are rated at 4,000 pounds each. So if you read the instruction manual, they recommend using one of these straps to hold the winch in place. If you're using it in a temporary setup, wrap it around a pole or a beam of your trailer or something like that. And then you can use the other strap to wrap around whatever you are winching up. So you do get two of those straps there.

You're also going to get these three shackles, again, to help with getting everything mounted it in place, giving you nice connection points between your winch and your strap, and your strap and whatever you are winching. We are also going to get one pair of these leather gloves to make sure that our hands are protected. One thing to note is you are going to have to kind of guide your wire rope back in place as you're winding this back up so that it doesn't all bunch to one side. So it'd be good idea to have the gloves on as you're handling that wire rope so you're not getting any burrs or anything like that. Also going to get this pulley block or hook, so this can be mounted on a separate location so that you are basically doubling the capacity of your winch by having it mounted in two locations. So if you want to you can use that and it's going to be useful for you. This does come with a three year limited warranty on all the electrical components and a lifetime warranty on all the mechanical components. And overall, I think this is going to be a great option for you if you have a trailer or something like that, that you're using a lot or if you just want to have the option to move your winch around, if you want to move it from one place to another, I think this is going to be a really neat option. I like the storage capacity, I like that it's all really compact and portable. So if you're looking for a portable winch, this one is going to be a great option for you. That's going to complete our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com, thanks for watching.

I purchased this winch after a friend loaned me his. I had to winch my 6k lb boat on the trailer when the eye hook broke. I had to strap the stern of the boat and winch the boat from the water. It saved the day and bought myself one right away for any emergency.

This is an awesome winch. I use it to haul antique railroad motorcars in and out of an enclosed trailer with ease. This winch is great because it is essentially portable. I hook a short chain to the rear clevis hooks to a bracket in my trailer and pull the machine up the ramps. The power is provided by a battery jump pack by clipping the battery leads to the jump pack leads for now and it works great with no permanent wiring. I also have an open trailer and use it with that trailer as well for pulling tractors and cars onto the trailer as well.
In a few seconds I can close up the power cables and the remote cable, close the box, disconnect the winch from the trailer and move it to another trailer or put it away. However, it easily can stay home in the trailer since it is so compact and easy to store out of the way.
The only complaint is probably the same with most winches, you must guide the cable onto the reel so it does not bind up on one side and pinch the cable. If you remember to guide the cable, it works awesome and is a very good product. You can also freespool the cable out to hook it onto whatever you are pulling which makes the job faster. The speed it operates is safe and seems like just a few seconds and the job is done.
Great product and great service with Etrailer.

Works great when it works. Have it in a 24 ft enclosed trailer and most of the time it takes wiggling all the connections around to find just the right fit for it to work. 25% of the time I can’t get it to work at all and have to find help to push a car up. Will be trying to sell it soon and put a permanent one in.

Thank you for your review. It sounds like there is a short somewhere. Superwinch by Westin handles the warranty on this. If you would like to look into it there is a 3-Year limited warranty on electrical components and a lifetime warranty on mechanical components.

I bought this because so I could get my I s x 800 Farris zero turn on to my trailer. I weights around 1100 lbs. i do not think 3 men could push this mower up the incline. I have tested this out , no problem. I hope it never brakes down but now I have something to handle it.

by:

great item, only issue is plastic clips for toolbox-scared i'm going to break one. But good so far

by:

Out of the box it comes with a lot of handy items. I’m most impressed with the plug and play end of the dc cable to the winch, and large alligator clips for positive and negative. I’m hoping it performs as well as it looks.

by:

Looks like a great product and nicely p ackaged.

Tried pulling a car in the garage yesterday just to see if it would work and no problem! Very cool item :)

Used this to winch a vehicle onto a car hauler. The winch pulled the vehicle up with zero problems. I like the fact that this winch is portable. Powered winch off of a deep cycle battery. Winch did not drain battery. Powerful, compact winch. Plenty of accessories included.

by:

Great portability, but I’m going to mount it in my enclosed car transporter. It’ll be used for pull the car in with dead batteries or low tires. Nice!

by:

Great tool, saved my butt more than once

by:

Exactly the correct size for loading my Lotus Evora onto my Featherlight trailer. I like that there is storage for accessories. I’d buy it again.

by:

Set it up to practice and all seems as advertised. Power and connections are sound. Plastic handle and closure clasps are suspect but no issue yet. It’s nice that everything you need is there. Maybe add a couple soft shackles and tree saver.

by:

Love it. It works very well and as always etrailer delivered it with in days of the order. Thanks. The case clasps could be a little more durable as they are a plastic. But still like the portability of this winch.

by:

From the order to the shipping went like clockwork, wish i could give 6 stars

by:

Everything was as anticipated. Delivery was on time. Great product.
