On a 2011 Dodge Journey the hitch wiring does not run to the rear of the vehicle, and the vehicles wiring is not designed to handle the draw of the trailer lights when using a T-One wiring harness that will just plug into the vehicles taillights. You will need a wiring harness that will use a powered converter and have a separate power wire that runs directly to the vehicles battery.

The correct wiring harness for the 2011 Dodge Journey with LED lights is the Tow Ready Wiring Harness, part # 118536. This harness is a universal application, so I have linked the installation instructions below, and I will also describe how to wire the harness to your vehicle.

To install the hardwire kit on your vehicle, you will need to use the included circuit tester to locate the brake light circuit behind the vehicle tail light. Once this circuit is located it will be connected to the smaller red wire coming from the converter box.

Next, locate the left turn signal circuit and connect the yellow wire to that circuit. The green wire is then ran to the passengers side and connected to the right turn signal circuit. The brown wire is connected to the tail light circuit and the white wire is connected to a suitable ground location.

Finally, the power wire (thicker red wire) is ran to the vehicle battery through the included inline fuse holder.

For a Journey with incandescent lights use # C56190KIT

I am including a link to a FAQ page on trailer wiring.
