Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Super easy to install, like stupid easy. Held up to the rough and salty utah winter no problem no corrosion. The wiring is high quality and and works perfectly. I would recommend this product to anyone. Probably have a trailer on the back of my truck about half the time now haha. 10/10. Shipped fast too

by:
2019 Toyota Tacoma

The wiring harness was fairly easy to install. The only issue I had was disconnecting the old light harness in order to connect the new one. I’m thinking because I have a 19 year old truck (2004 Toyota Tacoma) is the reason it was a little difficult to disconnect. Aside from that everything else was pretty straightforward, including the bracket for the flat connector for the lights.

Easy installation, way better designed than what it replaced.

Thank you for a Quality Harness, Shipping was on time (Before Actually), it was plug and play (Easy) to install and worked as expected! :)

1999 Toyota Tacoma

This wiring harness is easy and works. My 99' Tacoma doesn't have a connection for a trailer. I have put off having someone wire it for years. Mainly because of the expense and having to make time to take it somewhere. It was going to cost over $100.00 to have it done. Then I stumbled across etrailer.com while trying to see if there was some way to wire my truck myself. It took me fifteen minutes to hook this harness up. The reason it even took that long was because I was a little picky about how and where I wanted the plug to hang. Why can't everything be this simple?

by:
2003 Toyota Tacoma

I purchased the T-One vehicle wiring harness for my 2003 Toyota Tocoma. It was exactly the correct fit for my truck. This plug n play kit took no time to install and it completed my trailer hauling project. The I am extremely satisfied with the products and the customer service was impeccable. I would recommend this product and if you need any trailer supplies use etrailer, you be glad you did.

by:
2000 Toyota Tacoma

The installation was exactly as the video shows. I did not install a bracket or tube cover for the wires. The installation took between 15-20 minutes. I used extra black zip ties to make sure the wiring is secured and doesn’t droop down. Other than that, it’s a very simple connect and play set up.

the kit was well designed and manufactured. It took a little bit of thought but time to completion was 30 minutes. The best part is it worked.I would recommend your company to anyone

Easy installation and everything worked like OEM.

2003 Toyota Tacoma

I think this was the same one that I had installed on my 03 Tacoma back in '05. I recently found that the output voltage for the right-side brakes/turn signal was something like 5VDC, not enough to light up the incandescent trailer bulbs. It must be the 'conversion' box going bad. I really liked the integrated cap for the 4-connector plug and I figure that 17 years was a good run, so I got it again. Installation was about a 4.5 hour job, but that was partially due to the fact I had to pull out the old one. Plus, I had a 7-way round plug (with brake controller) installed later too, and the shop that did it tapped into this 4-way wiring. I tried to re-connect that one, but I ran out of time. Once done, when I tested it with my 5x8' utility trailer, all the lights lit up like they were supposed to. It was a fun project and anyone with even a small amount of technical know-how will be able to do this. Only questionable part is where to run and tie off the wiring, but not a big deal.

For the wiring, you would begin on the left, drivers side of the vehicle, then you would route the connector across the vehicle along the vehicle frame and out from under the vehicle through the right, passenger side tail light opening.

This was very simple to install just as the instructional video guided me through. Very helpful.

by:
2003 Toyota Tacoma

I just received my new wiring harness yesterday, and I'm anxious for this weekend so I can get it installed. I've watched the instructional video and read the instructions that came packed in the package and nothing could be simpler. I bought this unit as a replacement unit. Shortly after buying my truck new in 2004, I installed a cheaper version using "SCOTCH-LOKS" to tap into the wiring. The original converter failed is the reason I bought your product. The only modification I needed to make was cutting off the molded on 4 pole connector so that I can use my existing BERG 7 round pin connectorthat fits my 5 trailers, 2 with electric brakes and batteries, 2 regular box trailers, and 1 flatbed trailer. I highly recommend using a quality di-electric grease at the vehicle plugs, it will greatly reduce the chance of corrosion at the plugs.
Thank you for a fantastic product.

I havent had any problems since installiing it.

by:
2004 Toyota Tacoma

First off I watched both YouTube videos, one on the hitch and the other on the wiring. The videos told me what parts I would need to finish the install. Tools: I would suggest a impact wrench or drill. If using a wrench be careful the bolts are on there tight and when they let go you can scrape your hand on many different parts of the truck (not fun). The bumper and brackets disassemble is straight forward, have someone help hold the hitch while you put in the bolts. Put the brackets on and line up the holes but don't tighten all the way. When both sides are on you want to make sure they are both spaced the same. Then tighten the bolts. When running the wire just follow the wiring that is already there, I used about 15 plastic ties. The hitch is heavy and built like a tank, I will use it for occasionally pulling a 4x8 trailer with a motorcycle. Overall very satisfied with the hitch, wiring and etrailer.com.

I haven’t had one problem with the hitch or the wiring. Great products.

by:

Installation could not have been easier! Super straight forward instructions for both the wiring harness and the hitch, which I also bought from etrailer. Even had a instructional video for the wiring. I've used this 2" hitch on my 1999 Toyota Tacoma to haul my utility trailer loaded with 2 vintage Italian scooters on 600 mile+ trips and never had any issues. I also use it to haul my 17' sailboat with no problems. Lights always work!

My order, class II trailer hitch and wire harness, was on time and delivered with no missing parts. George sent me an email letting me know that the order shipped and then followed up to insure it was correct once received, I highly recommend George and his Company. They are honest and dependable people, which is a hard quality to find these days. Quality of the hitch was outstanding and the wiring harness went in without a hitch, sorta speak.

Thanks Etrailer, I will tell everyone I know about you.

your product has done a Great job. no problems with it and have used it many times. I as well would like to thank you for the follow up email. in today’s busy world it is not every one that takes the time to do this. If more companies would go back to the idea of Great Customer Service, as you have, it would most certainly be a much better world to live in.

by:
1996 Toyota Tacoma

I really like this method of connecting wiring harnesses , there are no splices ( much better than in the "old days" ) .
splicing always seems to fail at some point .
the connectors fit perfectly and the wiring itself was just right, on lengths.
it took me about 15 minutes to install .
the only issue i had was that it was a little sung getting the T connectors to fit in the "taillight well" - it may have been easier if they had , just a inch more wire between them so they would bend away and down from the bulb fixtures better .
i haven't connected my trailer yet , but i have no doubt it will perform correctly , and all my truck lights are operating normally.
not entirely sure i understand what duty the converter performs , however i am happy that it includes one (from what i have read )

Still working great !

Above excellent. I had previously bought a standard cut and wire in cheap unit and took an hour to cut and slice this in realizing that this did not include a brake wire adaption. I was going to figure it out and make it work. I saw this unit while looking for parts and thought I would try it and see if all worked. Someone would be crazy not to buy this unit. It is very very fast to hook up, accurate quality connectors and wire and EVERYTHING works just like the pickups tail lights and you don't need an Auto Technology degree to make all work instantly. The price is ridiculously low and having used this unit once I would instantly pay double next time. Also the big plus is you keep total integrity of your trucks wiring. We live in salty road winter conditions and it is not good to splice chassis wiring if you don't have to. This is a terrific product.

Andy

6/4/2014

Had the product for a year and it works flawlessly. Anyone would be nuts to try and wire in seperate wires as this impacts the wiring integrity of the original vehicle plus this product is ridiculously inexpensive, great quality and super fast and easy to install. Very good after market automotive product and this is from retired Euro Car Mechanic.

Shawn B. (& everyone I talked with at E Trailer) was wonderful.
Great phone support. Great products. We did a great job installing the wiring harness.
Made me wonder why we originally took it to a "professional" trailer sales & service place in Ogden UT. They hacked into our wiring & created problems.
I will continue to be a grateful customer.

Thank you E Trailer!

The wiring harness was great, but I think I have other issues, so I ordered a tester. As soon as it arrives, I'll get it all checked out, then get on to building the next custom trailer. You guys are great and I'm sure I will be ordering from ya again real soon, thanks a lot.

All items I ordered worked out well. Using the tester I found I had a bad ground, my fault. Thanks a lot, time to start the next project.

  • Are Spacers Necessary When Installing Curt Hitch # 13013 On A 2004 Toyota Tacoma
No, you will not have to add any spacers on the driver or passenger side between the bumper and the bumper brackets when installing the Curt Hitch # 13013 onto your 2004 Toyota Tacoma. You will need to remove the two bolts mounting the bumper and remove the bumper from the vehicle. Then you will have to remove the bumper brackets, position the receiver against the frame and install the 1/2 inch bolts. No additional spacers are needed.
