Are Spacers Necessary When Installing Curt Hitch # 13013 On A 2004 Toyota Tacoma

Question:

For my 2004 Toyota Tacoma truck, I want to buy a hitch Curt # 13013 and I plan to do the installation myself, but I would like if possible, that an expert to clarify me the following question: In the reinstallation of the bumper with the bumper brackets, I wonder if, Is It necessary to use some spacers on the driver and passenger side, between the bumper and the bumper brackets? that to compensate for the added thickness of the receiver hitch. I hope I have explained my question well. Thank you very much in advance for your reply.

No, you will not have to add any spacers on the driver or passenger side between the bumper and the bumper brackets when installing the Curt Hitch # 13013 onto your 2004 Toyota Tacoma. You will need to remove the two bolts mounting the bumper and remove the bumper from the vehicle. Then you will have to remove the bumper brackets, position the receiver against the frame and install the 1/2 inch bolts. No additional spacers are needed.

The trailer hitch has a bolt-on installation with no welding required. It has a gloss black powder coated finish that is over a protective base coat that offers superior rust resistance. The trailer hitch has a maximum gross trailer weight up to 5,000 pounds and has a maximum tongue weight up to 500 pounds. I would recommend checking your vehicle's manual to find the proper towing capacity of your vehicle.

If you're using the 2004 Toyota Tacoma to tow a trailer you will also need The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118379. Using this harness will give you a 4-flat connector and make it to where your trailer's stop, turn, and taillights will mirror your vehicle's stop, turn, and taillights. The harness will plug into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights.

The Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2 inch Hitches # C45554 includes an 8-1/4 inch long, powder coated ball mount with a pre-torqued hitch ball; hitch pin and clip; hitch receiver lock with keys; hitch cover; and a storage case.

I attached a couple installation video links below.
