Reasons for 1 Hour 10 Minute Install Time for the CURT Hitch # 13013 on a 2002 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
If there are just 4 bolts to install this hitch, why does it call for 1hr and 10 min? Am I missing something? Thank You

Expert Reply:
There are actually 6 bolts connecting the CURT trailer hitch # 13013, to the frame on the 2002 Toyota Tacoma, and the factory bumper will need to be removed and reinstalled to complete the installation. This will require disconnection and reconnection of the license plate light wiring, and correctly repositioning the rear bumper to complete the installation.
Although the installation requires 1hr 10min to complete this is not a difficult installation to undertake. One tip I can offer is to use some penetrating lubricant ahead of time, to help with loosening the factory bolts which have no doubt rusted over time. Having a helper to help lift the hitch and bumper into place would make things go much more smoothly also.
It has an installation time of about 40 minutes for a professional installer with the proper equipment.
Along with this hitch, the etrailer.com ball mount kit, # 989899, would help to complete your towing setup along with the Draw-Tite wiring harness, # 118379.
