Comparison of Tekonsha and Curt Wiring Harnesses for 1999 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
Own a 99 toyota tacoma 4x4. How do I determine what wire harness is correct? If I purchase the recommended 118379, with 2.1 and 4 amp., or the C55379 draws 3 and 5 amps. I dont want the lights, or fuse to blow. Why is there a difference between the two products amps?

Expert Reply:
The amp draw on the product pages for both the # 118379 and the # C55379 wiring harness is how much draw the harnesses are designed by their manufacturers to handle. The amount of draw will be determined by the lights on your trailer. The Curt is designed to handle a little more than the Tekonsha harness, however they've both been tested on a 1999 Toyota Tacoma like yours.
