Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Exactly what I needed to match existing tires

Tom D.

still happy with product, will be taking trip in immediate future.

by:

Not much to say. Bought for a spare and haven’t used it. Just what I thought it would be. Bought to match the original tires

by:

I ordered two tires and the arrived in two days, which was really quick. The tires were packaged well and arrived in perfect shape. Will definitely continue using etrailer for all my trailer parts and accessories.

by:

Great service and very fast delivery. E trailer provided communication at every step including a follow up after delivery. Tire price was the lowest I found on my search. I will use etrailer again for future purchases.

by:

Fast service. Grest product line

by:

Great tire at a great price. And super fast shipping with excellent tracking.

by:

Fast shipping. Tires are good

by:

Great service & communication.

My order arrived within a week as anticipated utilizing UPS Ground, and the tires were the correct size and quality as expected. I've installed the replacement tires on my utility trailer and can't wait for the summer season to begin.

The tires have performed as expected for the past year. Ive probably hauled my SxS trailer about 2K miles with the replacement tires so far, and I remain hopeful Ill have a few more good years and miles to go.

by:

No complaints tires are wearing good n wheels are holding up good.thanks

by:

I have had these Kenda tires on my dual axle trailer for over 10 years with no problems. They were the original equipment provided on Cargopro trailers manufactured in Maine. When they finally needed to be replaced, I read reviews for other name brand manufacturers and thought, why would I ever buy tires that most people didn't get more than three years life? I searched the web, found Etrailer.com, their prices were very reasonable and they shipped the same day I placed my order. Their service was great, the tires arrived in three days, they are installed and ride smoothly.
Thanks to Rebecca for all of your help!

by:

I bought 2 of these tires after purchasing 2 other brand tires from a local wholesale club that I had ended up taking back because of several problems. These tires are so great I bought 2 more to go on a smaller trailer. The ride very smooth compared to the others that I had. Great tires and great customer service. Shipping is super fast as well.

by:

Great service! Great tire, have had no issues, highly recommend you guys! Thanks so much

by:

Fast service. Tires have held up well. Trailer tracks so much better with these tires.

by:

Great tires for trailer

by:

Good looking tire

by:

size was right. delivery fast.
tire
life..low.. for trailer tires most brands including this
are only good for 5k-10k miles..
I put around 15-20k miles on my trailer per year.
it would be great to trailer tires lasted longer.
for a boat trailer that is hauled to lake a couple weekends a month. they
might be great tires. I use them on my work trailer..daily. hence the 15-20k miles per year

by:

This is the first set of Radial tires on my single axle utility trailer. I had them mounted and balanced locally. The difference between these and the previous bias ply tires is night and day. No any bounce, even on an empty trailer. When loaded they handled great. I can't tell you how they'll wear, I've only had them on for a day.

by:

Great tires at a great price. Fast free shipping too

by:

High quality wheels tires and accessories shipped quickly. Thanks everybody for great customer service and to future orders to keep my trailers safely on the road!

by:

Good, economical trailer tire.

by:

I prefer to deal with etrailer, they've sent exactly what I've ordered every time and for the price I was quoted.

I tried to use Walmart one time for the trailer tires, the order kept getting changed and cancelled. They ended up telling me they couldn't sell those tires and ship for the price they advertised. I waisted 3 weeks dealing with that. Etrailer had the same tires on my porch in less than a week

by:

Great products and great service!I am a shop owner in Sarasota, Florida who services several local commercial fleets. I don't have a huge need for trailer related items but when I have a need, I require fast service, fair prices and correct parts. eTrailer.com has never failed to provide outstanding products at market correct prices with fast affordable delivery. Thanks eTrailer for being exactly what we need, when we need it!

by:

The product was delivered as scheduled and was exactly what I ordered. I have never had any problems getting any orders or information from etrailer. The people are courteous and very knowledgeable.

by:

Trailer Tire I have these tires on my car trailer. I let a friend use my trailer, he fell asleep and hit a curb and busted a tire. I was unable to find a the some brand tire untill I found eTrailer. I ordered my Tire and two days later it was delivered. I will shop at etrailer for all my trailer need for now on. I will seen a picture soon. The packaging was GREAT!!!! Thank You Very Much.

  • Replacement Tire for 2020 Coachmen Ultralight
We don't offer a 250/75-16 tire, did you mean 205/75-15? If you switch to a 205/75-15 tire, it will move the tire 1/2 inch closer to the underside of the wheel well. You'll want to see at least 4 inches of clearance between the tire tread and the underside of the wheel well, with 3 inches as the absolute minimum. If your current tires offer at least 3-1/2 inches of clearance, going with the larger tire size would work for you. A 205/75-15 tire will fit 15 x5, 5-1/2, 6, or 6-1/2 inch rim.

  • Replacement Tires for 1968 Airstream Camper With 7.00-15 Tires
The Loadstar # AM1ST92 will work as a replacement for your 7.00-15 tires. Since it fits rims 5" - 6-1/2" wide you also won't have to worry about compatibility with your current wheels. It will be about 1" shorter by comparison so clearance on top won't be an issue and should have a similar section width so you won't have to worry about inside clearance either. The only concern might be the capacity. This has a max load of 1,820 lbs at 50 psi so you will need to make sure that is a high...

We also have the Karrier ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range C, # AM10244, which is a radial tire with a maximum load of 1,820 lbs. at 50 psi. I would recommend the radial tire over the bias tire because of better stability, better ride comfort and it will also dissipate heat better. Heat...

  • Can Different Width Trailer Wheels Be Used On The Same Trailer?
I do not like having mix matched wheel dimensions on the same trailer as it may cause fitment issues. For this reason I generally say that they are not interchangeable. You may be able to determine your wheel size by the tire size as well. If you do measure the wheel width remember that the width is an internal measurement from bead seat to bead seat. I have included a picture below for reference. A ST225/75R15 Tire # AM10303 requires at least a 6" wide wheel like the Dexstar Steel Spoke...

  • What is the Metric Equivalent Tire Size in a Load Range D For the G78-15 Load Range C Tire
The Metric equivalent of the G78-15 load range C trailer tire is a 205/75-15 tire. The 205/75-15 tire is not available in load range D, so you will have to stay with the load range C that you currently have. I would recommend going with a radial tire, for a better ride and increased performance and longevity. You should not experience any more bulge with a radial tire than you do with a bias ply tire so your should not have any clearance concerns as long as you stay within the capacity...

  • Tire Recommendation for 1978 Prowler Travel Trailer
If your current tires are the same size as the tires you referenced, ST205/75-15, I would recommend a radial tire like part # AM10244. Radial ply tires typically run cooler than bias ply, which is why I recommend them if they are available in your size. You will also need to choose tires that are of the appropriate load rating, because choosing tires that are rated too low for the weight of the travel trailer will cause excess heat build-up in the tires and could lead to premature wear...

Then, I would recommend to have the tires and wheels balanced. Another thing to check is the suspension parts on the trailer. When suspension parts begin to wear and get loose it can cause the tire to hop when being towed and cause the cupping pattern. The load range (B,...
