The item arrive on time but without any diagram or instructions. I installed the wires according to designation on plastic cover. However when I went to mount item on bracket the wires came out. I took the lens off hoping I could secure wire on on inside. No dice. I recut wires and tried again. Success. I replaced lens screws with stainless ones. Mounted item to bracket and secured wires to housing with electrical tape! Hope works. Think there should be a method to take strain off wires so they don’t pull out.

There are no wires coming out the back of the light no nuts to mount the light to the trailer. I was told that this replacement light was the same as the ones that came in the light kit. But I can't use it

I sincerely apologize that this light is not going to work with you. I can see that the nuts are missing and I will have our customer service team reach out to you. When installing the light it would be grounded using the hardware and the function of the light would be wired into it. You can see this at mark 1:18 in the link below.

These tail lights are hard to find, but etrailer had them

by:

Just rewired a cargo trailer I bought that the lights were always going out. Found 20 butt connectors the guy used no wonder they worked off & on. Now with two new tail lights & new wiring with a straight connection everything works like it should. Everything I have bought from etrailer has been good quality & fast shipping.

Thanks

Still working with no problems. This trailer gets plenty of use besides going to the county dump, hauling landscaping material &amp lumber.

by:

Great product! I am in the process of restoring my trailer and these tail lights are perfect replacements.

by:

So some times, I’m not so good at backing up but this one I hit with the snow blower.
I like this unit because the wires just plug in the back and I’m good to go. I recommend this light.
This one use for the “passenger” side (with out license plate.

Still looks and works great. Keeping the snow blower away so far!

Peterson has always made good lights. I like the push-in for the wires. Over the last dozen years I have replaced my lights 3 times and always use Peterson. etrailer is quick and efficient with getting your order out. I've also added guards to my lights to see if they can keep from being damaged.

by:

Has worked perfectly!

by:

Hi Ashley E.

You probably don’t
remember, but you ask me to do a review and send a photo of my trailer light purchase on your invoice #108377365 Of 9/4/019.

Find a photo attached. This is a ‘Rat Rod’ pickup and not quite done, but I finally did get the lights mounted and wired. They worked perfectly, and I am very satisfied.

I will send you another (and a much better) photo when a get the bed for the Rat Rod built.

by:

Great product and just as I needed.

by:

This was an exact replacement for my 30 year old boat trailer light. So easy! Stripped the wires, plugged them in, works perfectly!

by:

Perfec, great replacement

by:

I ordered these as part of a project to restore a small landscape trailer. Installed easy but, passenger light would not work. Vibration from the road would cause the bald to come loose and fall out inside the cover. Tried to get them returned under warranty but, so no purpose in paying for the return shipment. I found LED lights on (online store) installed in 20 minutes and they work perfectly. Much better solution.

by:

Peterson makes great products and has for many years. I bought this to match the other tail light on my trailer. It is a perfect match and easy to install. I was happy to find an online source for this product as all of the bigbox stores seem to have gone to generic brands. Thank you etrailer for a fair priced alternative.

A year later and still performs like new

by:

As always, I very satisfied with my purchase from, etrailer. I have bought from them before and always get great service and products. Of course Ole George, keeps me up to date on my items and information about shipping, and even lets me know when it is delivered. I think he has a spy cam somewhere so he can watch over the items. Not sure how he does it. etrailer has to be a family owned business, as they care for the customer like family. Many thanks to all the etrailer employees for making my purchases a great experience! P S They didn't pay me to write this.

No complaints at all. Thanks George for checking with me after a year. This was a surprise! As in my feedback a year ago, where I said you were like family, I still mean that. However, I think you forgot to let me know where the family was having Christmas Diner, last year. Thanks again.

by:

great packaged perfectly, no flaws

by:

Quality is above average. Installation was easy. Old school incandescent bulbs. A simple diagram with how long the wires need to be stripped to stay in the holders would be nice. Somethings are not worth watching a video. Maybe the country of manufacturer doesn't provide instructions, hence the videos.

Not much wire needs to be stripped in order to install. If you do not wish to watch this entire review video, the install and stripping start around the 2:10 mark:

by:

Was as described. Very easy to attach to trailer and the wires just clipped in as shown in the video.

Product arrived quickly and well packaged. Haven't had a chance to install yet but no reason to think it won't work and installation is a breeze with this design, which I couldn't find locally.

Product was easy to install and has worked fine.

by:

The lights arrived in a timely fashion at a very good price. Upon opening the box, I was initially puzzled by the lack of wiring pigtails. Darn, I guess I need to order a plug; OK, it's been a long time since I changed my trailer lights. Oh, but after a little research, such was not so. The trailer wires simply pressed into the rear of the light housing and self tapped - how simple. Maybe, a sliver of paper instructions enclosed would have been in order. Maybe not.....
Overall, I am most pleased with my dealings with eTrailer.

by:

Product, price, and delivery exceptional. I also appreciate the followup asking if I was satisfied with my purchase, which is rare these days. I highly recommend anyone in need of trailer/vehicle items try this company.

  • Replacement Clip On Side Marker Lens for a Peterson 440 Trailer Tail Light
The replacement side lens with the clips for the Peterson 440 light is not one that we carry. The replacement light, # 432200 for the right side or # 432400 for the left side, will not cost much more than a replacement lens would. I checked with Peterson and the 440 lights now have screws for that side lens so it would appear they have changed the design.

  • Troubleshooting Right Turn Signal Not Working on Trailer Taillights
First, disconnect the trailer from the tow vehicle so you can check the vehicle side connector. Using a circuit tester like part # PTW2993, test the functions of the connector; specifically check the right turn/brake, to make sure the signal is making it to the connector. If it is not working at the connector, there might be a fuse blown or missing in the power distribution box under the hood. Also, make sure both connectors are clean, and free of any dirt or corrosion. This very well...

  • How Does The Light Guard # LG440NP Mount Onto A Trailer
The Light Guard # LG440NP mounts by using the mounting post on the light, or by welding onto your trailer frame, since your trailer is made from wood you can only mount it by using the mounting post of the light. The Light Guard is made for the Peterson Square Lights # 432400 (left hand) and # 432200 (right hand). These lights come with the wiring for the side marking lighting. In order to diagnose the problem, you will first want to test the trailer connector on the Sienna. Use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993. Check the socket that corresponds with the yellow wire which carries the driver's side brake and directional signal. Even though the brake light works, it would be good to pull that light off and check the surface that its mounted to on all sides. If it isn't mounted to a good clean surface it can cause some of the issues you are describing. If the trailer has paint, rust, or corrosion in the area you may want to sand that post spot off. • Why Would Trailer Wiring Only Ground Through Ball Mount on a Trailer
Typically what you described is due to an insufficient ground on the trailer and not the vehicle. You can try running the grounds of the lights back to the main ground of the trailer and that should fix the problem. Or if the main ground strap of the trailer is attached to a painted surface you could try removing the paint and connecting it to a bare metal surface. Or you can try testing the pins of the connector on your tow vehicle with a circuit test like part # PTW2993 using the ground...

  • Troubleshooting Right Turn Signal Not Functioning But Running Light Works
It's a ground issue. I know you said the running lights work on that side, but that circuit draws considerably less than the blinker/stoplight circuit so an insufficient ground will show up there first. Try improving the ground of the assembly and it should work just fine. If it grounds through the mounting hardware try cleaning off where it attaches or running jumper wires to the ground harness of the trailer.
