My horse trailer is 20 years old and I thought that overnight I'd aged 40 years when I could no longer crank the jack up or down! I looked on line after a 20 something friend suggested that the jack needed to be replaced. He helped me crank the old one down and thought that he'd hurt his back.

I ordered this Bulldog Square Jack on a Sunday afternoon. It was delivered to my trailer guy on Wednesday about noon. My guy swapped out my old jack for this one in about 2.5 hours. When I picked up my trailer, I tried the new jack and realized that once again, I was 64 years young!! It operates smooth as silk!!

I LOVE IT!!!

Quite possibly one of the best jacks I have ever used. I bought this jack to go on a 1993 S&H 6x20 stock trailer and it has performed great. One feature that is really nice is the grease zert on the front. I never understood why a lot of these jacks do not have a zert. The jack that this jack replaced did not have one and I am fairly certain that is the reasoned it failed. The other great thing about it is the spring and spring release handle. If you do not have a spring jack you should. No more squatting down in the mud to raise the jack stand leg for me. Just lower the jack, push the handle down with your foot, (left or right foot, it's ambidextrous so it doesn't care which) lock your trailer to the ball and you are off and running with no mud or grass stains on your knees! Also on a side note the service with etrailer is great. Same day shipping usually and if not it's the next day and will be there quickly. Great people too. Bottom line is I would recommend this product and company to anyone in need of a jack or other trailer parts/accessories.

by:

My boyfriend put my jack on my horse trailer and I like it so much better than the original jack that came on my trailer. You guys are the best to work with. I ordered it online and received it within 3 days. Thank you again for the great customer service.

The replacement Jack is very well built. has maintenance grease Zerk's for easy usability, the retracting assembly is easy to use and installing is not complicated. Ordering and receiving part was in a timely manner and the on line help for dis in engaging the foot mechanism was very helpful .
This This Bull Dog Mechanical jack is much ease-yer to operate and and maintain than the factory install jack. Thanks Gerald L.

I just installed this jack on a titan stock trailer. The old one broke and so far this one works good. It cranks easily and the spring return is nice. This new jack was not the same size as the old one but I made it work.

by:

Just wanted to let you know my husband put my jack on and it works great.
He painted it to look like my trailer :)

by:

Quality jack for a great price, much better jack for my equipment trailer then the top crank one that came with it

by:

e-tailer makes finding what you need at a good price easy. The website provides all the information you need, as well as phone support. Inventory selection is very good as is stock. Checkout is a breeze and the shipping is really quick. Best of any where we purchase from. I have purchased from e-tailer before and will continue to

by:

etrailer was the cheapest I could find for my Bulldog brand trailer jack. The jack weighed 64 lbs. and they gave me free shipping, which was totally unexpected. I will definitely look to etrailer first for my future trailer part needs.

This jack has been terrible. We ranch for a living and are hooking and unhooking trailers a lot. The spring loaded mechanism failed within the first 60 days. I would never buy another one. Etrailer was great. Just a poor product.

by:

The jack was exactly what I was needing. It will be perfect for my trailer. It will carry the load, the drop leg is easy to operate. My old jack was heavy duty but not heavy enough, PROBLEM SOLVED!!

Is it a 2 speed crank?

Patrick B.

8/24/2013

This jack is a single speed unit. For a comparable 2 speed version, look at part BD183750. Same high weight capacity and drop-leg, but with a 2 speed gear-box for the crank.

by:

It is a good jack. The only draw back that I have encountered is that it has two pins that spread apart and when you go to lift the leg and when you put it back in, they fit too tight.

Works just fine...as I expect.

by:

Cranks harder than any jack have ever used. Feels like gears are in bind.

You will want to make sure that you are following the maintenance schedule for the jack. The gears, bushings, and screw will need to be kept lubricated. For side-wind models apply a small amount of automotive EP2 grease with a grease gun at lubrication points found on the side of jack near the input shaft. Rotate jack handle to distribute the grease evenly. A lightweight oil must be applied to the input shaft bushings at sides of the jack or gearbox.

by:

Jack shipped and received promptly. Only took a couple hours to remove old jack and replace with this new heavy duty one. Works great! Only complaint is that it was made in Mexico rather than the good old USA.

I am still very happy with the Bulldog jack. I only half-jokingly told my brother the other day that since I got this jack, I really look forward to hooking up to the stock trailer to move cows! Thanks

by:

Great Jack but hard to get it to catch the latch when taking trailer off.

by:

I had a trailer jack delivered for a dbl axle flat bed. It was damaged during shipping. Most likely the delivery guy just dropped it and bent the floorplate. It sat for a while before I even opened the box but the staff was so helpful and fast at solving all issues. The etrailer staff provide excellent service, top notch!

by:

THANK YOU FOR YOUR FAST DELIVERY OF THIS ITEM . I WAS ABLE TOO GET MY TRAILER BACK IN SERVICE IN A SHORT TIME !

THE BULLDOG JACK WORKS FINE JUST SEEMS HARDER TO CRANK THAN THE OLD ONE OR MAYBE I AM THE OLD ONE !!

by:

This jack didn't last long at all. The handle you push on to lift the extension out the bottom wore off very quickly and wouldn't allow it to catch the way it is supposed to. I was real happy with it for about two to three weeks and then it wore off and doesn't work so I have to use a stump underneath it to raise it off the truck.

by:

They worked great!

by:

Great product, fast delivery thanks

by:

I haven’t had the jack mounted on the trailer yet, but I’m hopeful that being a “BULLDOG” it will serve me unfailingly, for years.
I’m excited to try the “step spring release”, as I have spine issues, and bending over is difficult.
Thank you for speedy shipping.

by:

Great trailer jack for the price
It's
pretty heavy and could have been packaged a little better. Would have given 5 stars but foot plate got bent a little bit during shopping. Must have been dropped. Still useable so didn't return since I need it now.

by:

Great product; great customer service. I just put it on, so I will have to update later on durability but works great now. I like the fact that my hands are not down there when that slides up and down... I made the right choice with this jack.

by:

We are very pleased with the Bull dog jack that we got for our cow trailer. It is very heavy duty and easy to use. Wish we had bought it a year ago. Service was wonderful and would buy from them again. Thanks. Barry

by:

Trailer jack little beat up from shipping (to be expected with weight ) but works better than some jacks that came new on my chippers and deckover trailers.

  • Are the Spring Returns of Bulldog Jacks Repairable if the Spring Return Function Stops Working
It sounds like you have a spring return Bulldog landing gear jack that has a broken spring and now won't retract when you activate the release lever. I spoke to my contact at Bulldog and he said the springs aren't repairable so you would need to replace the jack with something like the part # BD182701.

  • Clearance Needed For Mounting Bulldog Square Jack On Equipment Trailer
When the Bulldog Square Jack, part # BD182701 is fully retracted the distance from the bottom of the outer leg on the jack to the ground is 4-1/2 inches. Since this is a weld-on jack you can attach this at a height along the outer tube so you have the ground clearance you need on your trailer.

  • Is A 2-Speed Jack Easier To Crank Than A Single-Speed For Grain Cart With 6500 LB Tongue Weight
The benefit of the two-speed jack like part # BD183750, would be the speed at which you can turn the handle. When using the low gear the jack will lift 1 inch every 29-1/2 turns. When used in high gear it will lift 1 inch every 9 turns. Although it may be a bit easier to turn in low gear, you would have to crank the handle more than three time as much to lift the same height. • Replacement Parts for Square Tube Jack On Gooseneck Trailer
I would have no way of identifying the jack you have based on the description given unfortunately but even if we were able to identify it which is a chore in itself sometimes it's not likely you'll be able to find replacement parts that fit. There are rarely replacement parts available for these older jacks. I suggest a new jack leg for which the most popular option we have is the Bulldog Square Jack part # BD182701. It will need to be welded-on but that's your only option really.

To engage the pin that holds the drop leg of the Bulldog Square Jack # BD182701 you will basically need to guess when it is aligned. This is a lot easier than guessing with a pin and clip that you would have to insert completely through the jack though. You just slowly move it until you find the next pinhole.
