Rugged, Matte Black Finish

The sturdy steel construction is protected with a matte black finish for added durability. This unique powder coating gives etrailer hitches a carbide-like appearance and a rugged look that sets them apart from traditional glossy hitches. In addition to being rust and corrosion resistant, the tough matte coating hides dirt, scuffs, and dings better than a glossy finish.

Fit 95% perfectly. One hole on each side was about 1/32 of an inch off and it was very difficult getting that one bolt started. Other than that I am very happy with the product. Because of that it took about 45 minutes to remove factory hitch and install the new one. Had to go from the 1 and 1/4 to the 2" so I can add a power lift for my mobility scooter.

Etrailer’s website is so easy to navigate, shipping was instantaneous and I was given tracking info immediately. I think this is my third purchase, and not my last. And phone numbers are given in emails if there is a problem and you want to talk to a real person! That’s something you don’t see much of anymore. The paper instructions were correct, but I wanted to watch a video on the install for clarity, sure enough the first one that comes up when I searched YouTube was from Etrailer. Ryan was the “star” of the video and cleared up any confusion I had on the steps to mount the hitch receiver. Exhaust system support was a concern until I saw what Ryan did/suggested. Such a smooth process from beginning to end. Totally satisfied!

We needed a tow hitch for your vehicle and I found this one with good ratings. Overall the installation was as easy as possible - I just backed the car towards the garage since we have a nice angle on the driveway. I got to work and followed the instructions. This really is an easy install. Took about 45 minutes because I needed to get assistance to thread the first two bolts. Jacking up the vehicle is highly recommended if you can. Overall I'm satisfied with the ordering process, the quality of the tow hitch and the great customer service.

This hitch receiver was delivered in 3 days from when I ordered it, took 25 minutes to install by myself. Very easy instal and looks great!

2008 Kia Sportage

The etrailer hitch is an excellent addition to Little Boy Blue, my 2022 KIA Sportage. The installation, done in my driveway, took less than an hour, and since I have no friends, I was forced to install it by myself. An overturned bucket was my assistant. The hitch is high-quality, a breeze to install, and adds significant value to my vehicle. By the way, it's my second DIY hitch from etrailer. The Red Baron, my departed 2008 KIA Sportage, was also outfitted with an etrailer hitch. All in all, a five-star item for sure.

Great product, easy install , no need to remove panel. 6 bolts is strong enough for a bike rack. Only had to drop the 2 side rubber mounts , not all 3…Installed in about 20 min….Eazy breezy.l. 2021 Sportage ( Highly recommend ) Fast shipping also…Don’t be scared ! Get it!

You mentioned that you had only used six out of the eight bolts. I wanted to advise that the manufacturer advocates using all the hardware. If something were to happen and the hitch fails, then it would not be covered under warranty.

All good year later…strong , reliable wonly 6 bolts installed. Not towingso you don’t need all 8. Personal choice….recommend ,easy, fast install…worth every Buck!

Looks great fits pretty well. The side rail bolt holes don't line up but all four bottom rail bolts fit as indicated. I'm not towing anything major just a basket with luggage so it should do the trick for me but didn't fully bolt in.

Regarding the bolt holes not lining up, sometimes a hitch can become flexed in the shipping process. This is a common occurrence, so much so that we actually have a help article on how to corrected mild flexing. I have attached the link to that article. Just wanted to send you that information because it is important to make sure the hitch is installed the way the manufacturer outlines. It is a safety concern and the integrity of the hitch is compromised if the instructions are not followed all the way. I understand you may not be hauling very much but in the name of safety I just wanted to reach out to you.

2010 Kia Sportage

For a 2020 KIA Sportage base model. Another review mentioned having to drop the back end of the muffler/exhaust but I did not find that necessary. I did spend about 10 minutes maneuvering to find the perfect position and levering the muffler aside, then the hitch slipped in perfectly. I should have used something to clean the threads on the nutplates on the car first but in the end all the bolts went in fine.

2019 Kia Sportage

I have a 2019 KIA Sportage STI Turbo. The hitch fit perfectly. Note that there was no need to remove the bottom rear corner splash shields. The bolts can be forced into place without doing so and that is good because there are screws from above that require interior trim to be removed before you can get to them. Also, no need to hang muffler using rope or anything. The mid pipe hanger will hold the rear section. I bought a muffler hanger tool and it was worth the money. Spray a little soapy water. This is a step that I had trouble with in the past on other jobs.

2017 Kia Sportage

Very easy to install with the help of a small jack and some patients the hitch was in with in a 45 minute window. Worth the money.

  • etrailer e72TR or Curt C13281 Class III Hitch Fits for 2017 Kia Sportage SX
The etrailer # e72TR isn't a fit for the 2017 Kia Sportage SX or SX Turbo, according to their website and I've confirmed this with one of my Draw-Tite representatives. Curt confirms that their # C13281 is a fit for all models of the 2017 Kia Sportage SX, so that's what I'd recommend going with. If you're concerned about the notation about the Curt hitch requiring a # 18050 stabilizing strap, Curt no longer requires the strap to maintain warranty coverage, so you wouldn't need a strap....

Prior to loading your 2018 Kia Sportage, you'll want to verify your vehicle's maximum tongue capacity and towing capacity to ensure that your vehicle's engine will be able to handle the weight. The total weight of the scooter, plus carrier, will need to be less than this capacity to safely transport the scooter. With your Class III hitch, part # e72TR you can use larger, ramped carriers to make loading and unloading the scooter easier. I've attached our install video of this hitch so...

Your 2021 Kia Sportage LX is capable of towing 1,653 lbs with a maximum tongue rating of 200lbs. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13281 is the one I would recommend for you. The 2" receiver that this hitch has will give you a wider variety of options for ball mounts and drops. It also does not hang down as low as the etrailer # e72TR, this will limit the chance of dragging on tall curbs. For the Tekonsha Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118698. It uses a powered...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for a 2020 Kia Sportage
The trailer hitch I recommend for a 2020 Kia Sportage is the etrailer Hitch part # e72TR. The etrailer Hitch offers a complete bolt-on installation with no cutting/drilling or special tools involved therefore no permanent modifications are required. This is certainly something you can install at home, in your driveway without much effort as it only takes most on average around forty minutes or so. This Hitch has a concealed cross tube so the only part that is visible will be the receiver...

  • Best Way to Carry Bike Rack with 2019 Kia Sportage
Hitch mounted bike racks are the best bike rack options. The reason is hitches offer the most secure way to mount a bike rack, they're easy to load and install/remove, and they don't touch any painted body panels. So you'd first need a hitch. For that the etrailer hitch item # e72TR is the best option as it has the best capacities for carrying a bike rack and has a concealed cross tube so it wouldn't be as visible as other hitches. For a bike rack I really like the Saris SuperClamp EX...

  • Hitch and Wiring Harness Recommendation for a 2017 Kia Sportage SX GDI
The etrailer hitch part # e72TR is the correct hitch for the 2017 Kia Sportage. We did install this hitch on a 2018 Kia Sportage SX GDI so it's confirmed to fit your Sportage. I recommend Tekonsha part # 118698 for trailer wiring. The Tekonsha wiring harness is a t-connector that plugs in behind the driver's side and passenger's-side tail lights. It does not require splicing but does require a power wire that connects to the battery. The power wire powers the Modulite converter that is...

I have linked an installation video below. You are going to need two separate wiring harnesses to add a 7-way connector to your vehicle that will allow you to control your trailer's brakes. Since the combined weight of the lift and chair is 182 pounds it is within the capabilities of the vehicle! For a trailer hitch if your Sportage is an EX or LX model I recommend etrailer hitch # e72TR but if you have an SX model the only option is Curt hitch # C13281. For your 2019 Kia Sportage there are two hitch sizes available, 2 inch and 1-1/4 inch. Whenever available I recommend going with a 2 inch hitch since it will be stronger and more accessories are designed to fit that size. So the 2 inch hitch I would recommend for your 2019 Sportage would be the etrailer hitch part # e72TR because it has the best capacities, is the least visible, and unlike the Curt # C13281 it does not require the use of a stabilizer strap when carrying a non-supported...

  • Trailer Hitches for 2020 Kia Sportage with Clearance for an Inclined Driveway
The ground and bumper clearances on the Curt Hitch # C13281 and the etrailer Hitch # e72TR are both about 13 inches from the ground to the top of the receiver, although the etrailer does appear to hang a bit lower because of the safety chain loops. I recommend the Curt hitch since it offers a bit better clearance. Since you are worried about the incline of your driveway, I recommend using a rising ball mount such as this Draw-Tite Ball Mount # 2793, which can be used for a 6-3/4 inch...

The Curt # C13281 you were looking at allows you to re install that underbody trim panel so I recommend going with that hitch instead. Both hitches would install in a similar manner, and the installation shares the same level of difficulty. Based on the installation video we did for etrailer hitch # e72TR on a 2017 Kia Sportage, see link, the distance from the ground to the top of the receiver opening is 13 inches. This means to get 17 inches you would need a ball mount with 4 inches of rise. But it also depends on how you are measuring. On the trailer use its jack to make the trailer level.
