Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2021 Kia Sportage Towing and Carrier
Question:
I have a 2021 Kia Sportage LX and would like to know which hitch I should order to be able to tow a small aluminum boat once in awhile and also possibly use a ramp carrier for a wheel chair/scooter at other times. Will the hitch support a scooter? Are there any dealers in my area of central Wisconsin that install your products? Thanks.

Your 2021 Kia Sportage LX is capable of towing 1,653 lbs with a maximum tongue rating of 200lbs. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13281 is the one I would recommend for you. The 2" receiver that this hitch has will give you a wider variety of options for ball mounts and drops. It also does not hang down as low as the etrailer # e72TR, this will limit the chance of dragging on tall curbs.
For the Tekonsha Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118698. It uses a powered module to avoid overloading vehicle's electrical system and plugs into the factory taillight connections to limit the amount of wiring necessary.
The etrailer Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches # 989900 is a great kit as it will give you 2 different drop/rise choices as well as both 1-7/8" and 2" ball options. The storage bag is great to as then all your parts are stored in one convenient location.
With the tongue weight limitation that the vehicle has I really don't think that there are many scooters that will fall into the below 200lb rating with the addition of the tray that would be needed to carry it. And we do not have any businesses that we recommend do the installation of the products. You are welcome to check with the product manufacturer (Curt, Tekonsha) as sometimes they have a preferred installer network. Please also see the installation videos included as they may help you to decide if you wish to install them yourself.
