Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Bought this hitch a year ago to transport our bikes and have been totally satisfied. I purchased the hitch that said it would fit my 2015 Toyota Corolla and it is a perfect fit. The only tricky part was carefully cleaning out the holes in the underside of my car. The included instructions were invaluable! Once those were clean, the hitch bolted right on using a socket wrench and a little WD40. We've been happily bringing our bikes with us from home to the beach and back ever since!

After a year, I am more satisfied than I was initially! I remember the DIY install being a lot of scooching around on a dirty, cement floor, wrestling with tools and WD40. It was so worth it! The bike rack I use pops right in and out, the holes in the hitch are perfectly aligned, and not a hint of rust which Id expect eventually for anything made of steel. Its so great to use a product that makes ones life easier and exceeds expectations... and for a very good price! Thank you!

2018 Honda Accord

This is my second Draw-Tite hitch. I've had one on my 04 Accord for ~8 years. Today we installed on a 2018 Corolla SE. The installation was a breeze with my son's help (ok, I helped him). We jacked up the rear of the car, which makes seeing the holes much easier. We did not need to pull the muffler off its hanger. As advised by others, we reamed out the holes using the male end of a battery terminal cleaner, after which the fasteners fit tightly but securely. I would not clean the holes with any lubricant as shown in the video. My son thought about using lock-tite but after seeing how tightly the fasteners fit, decided against it. The hitch is very heavy duty and well made, and the fit is perfect. The top of the hitch fits right against the jack point. Shown in the pictures is the installation with and without my Swagman Trailhead 2-bike carrier, which has carried bikes many tens of thousands of miles over the years. I do recommend a hitch cover, which helps to slow corrosion of the inside of the receiver.

The hitch has been great. No interior corrosion, which I experienced with my previous hitch.

by:
2014 Toyota Corolla

Great hitch. Easy installation except for having to tap my weld nut threads first. My one complaint: etrailer, please inform people that they may need their threads tapped before install, even after cleaning with a wire brush. My car only has 45,000 miles but still had corrosion in the weld nut threads that required tapping. Otherwise, excellent customer service and I will most definitely purchase from again and recommend to people (already have). Thanks!

Ended up selling the vehicle, and I really wish I would have removed this product for our other Corolla same generation. Will likely buy again when the time is right.

2014 Toyota Corolla

Quick delivery and installation. Video was very helpful. 2014 Corolla I used the box to prop-up the hitch while I bolted it in place. I believe the Curt hitch has the ball included but instructions showed the removal of the plastic splash guard so I opted for the Draw-tight which did not.

2017 Toyota Corolla

Easy 5 minute install by myself. Looks great. Fits perfectly. When locked down with bikes on my rack there is zero wobble or movement at the connection or any other point with this set up. Rock solid with my Saris bike rack.

I use the hitch for my bike rack and use it a ton...it is flawless, no issues.

Toyota Corolla

Glad to have a top quality Draw-Tite hitch from etrailer on my '17 Toyota Corolla SE (with a six-speed MANUAL transmission. Ohh yeah!)
Some notes about the installation.
The plastic cover plate below the trunk well would not come off. Those darned 12mm nuts could not be removed. No matter. The hitch can be installed with that cover plate in place.
From heaving the hitch up off my chest to the frame and getting the first bolt threaded to torquing down the last blue threadlock-covered bolt in place, doing the job by myself, about a half hour.
One thing that concerns me about the hitch is that it covers the pin hole that Toyota put on that car. There is an upside down cup with a pin sticking up adapter that fits on the head of my floor jack. This adapter is used to jack up the rear of this car. With the hitch covering that hole, the hitch itself is the rear jack point. I hope this is not a problem. Sometimes I have to question why automobile engineers design things the way they do.
All in all, a great hitch value from etrailer.

by:

I believe this is the 5th hitch I have purchased from etrailer. I primarily use these hitches for a hitch bicycle rack that I can swap between vehicles. Installation was straight forward as usual. Since I installed it on a used vehicle, I did have to spend a lot of time with a steel tube brush and a can of WD40 cleaning out the threads in the vehicle frame. Once the bolts went in and out without resistance, the installation was smooth sailing from then on.

2011 Toyota Corolla

Fantastic product. Fit my 2011 Toyota Corolla perfectly. Amazing customer service. Maybe one of the best customer service companies I've interacted with. Online instructions on how to install and thorough comparisons between the different hitches. Even a recommendation for which cargo loader would be appropriate!

I installed this hitch on my own in about 20 minutes. Took another 30 minutes to assemble and install my cargo carrier. All finished under an hour with just a socket wrench.

I'll be using this to haul my things on a cross country trip. Also, planning on using it to move my bike around since it won't cause as much wind resistance as the roof car racks and those were super expensive and easily stolen.

by:
2019 Toyota Corolla

It was super easy to install om my 2019 Corolla. Bought this to use a specific bicycle rack. I've had it over a year now and absolutely no problems! I love it. Thank you

by:
2014 Toyota Corolla

This hitch got delivered quickly, along with the wiring harness and ball mount I ordered. It's readily apparent that these are now designed and built with the aid of computers: The hitch fit absolutely perfectly, and hugged the contour (fit) of the car very closely.
I ordered the wrong ball mount-please don't laugh!!!!
(Jena helped me out and the right one got delivered today.)

by:

The hitch is great, the installation was extremely easy. Everything fit perfectly, it looks really nice on the car. The online videos on the website were very helpful. I don't think I would have attemted this without first seeing the difficulty of the installation process. I have a bike rack that I will be using with the new hitch. This will save me a lot of money in gas as I have previously been using a Jeep Grand Cherokee to transport the bike.

by:

Super easy install. Only way it would be better is if e-trlr included trailer light instructions. If they did, woud have ordered a wiring kit.

by:

Awesome hitch; easy to install. Delivered on time; zero issues. No need to raise car or drop exhaust- just bolt on. Perfect for towing my ‘59 Sears Allstate trailer.

by:
2013 Toyota Corolla

Hitch was received and packaged well. Took only about 15 minutes to install. It fit like it should.

Ken

4/2/2019

Hitch work as it should and the paint has made it through a NY salt road season unscaved.

by:

The hitch is simple and rugged (much more so than the car). It mounts to the car with four supplied bolts and washers - very simple.

In my case the car had gone through a dozen New Hampshire and Maine winters and the weld nuts in the frame were significantly rusted so I bought a 12mm x 1.25 metric tap at a local auto parts store and used it to clean out the threads. Once that was done the hitch mounted without difficulty.

I'll use the hitch for towing a box trailer and for mounting a bicycle carrier. I chose the Draw-Tite hitch over the comparable Curt hitch because the Curt hitch calls for a support strap when using non-trailer accessories (such as a bike carrier), where the Draw-Tite hitch doesn't.

Charles

A year out the hitch works well. I use it fairly often both to tow the box trailer and carry the bicycles.

by:

Install was so easy my grandma could do it next time, everything was included and actual instal time took 15 minutes by myself, would buy again if needed.

by:
2014 Toyota Corolla

Hitch installed easily on my 2014 Toyota Corolla.
Wiring had poor instructions in the box but the video posted on etrailer’s site answered my questions.
No issues and everything worked.
Thanks.

by:

This was not the first time I have used etrailer. Both hitches I have ordered bolted up with no problems. I use the hitch on my 2011 Silverado to haul my pontoon boat and our 26 foot camper. The hitch I installed last year is on a 2014 Corolla and it was installed to tow a light weight kayak trailer. even with three kayaks on it, there were no problems.

Fantastic! It has been more than 2 years since I installed it and it is still going strong.

by:

The Draw-Tite hitch arrived quickly and in a very secure shipping package. The hitch fit fine and the installation went well. I had two issues that others might encounter - I had to grind a little metal off the Toyota's frame because the hole in the frame didn't line up with the attachment nut welded on to the frame. Not a problem, just added a little time. The other issue was that several of the attachment nuts required cleaning due to the spray coating used on the underside of the car. Again, not a big issue, just added a little time. All in all, I'm very satisfied with the hitch. etrailer.com provided fast shipping (ordered on Saturday, arrived on Thursday).

The trailer hitch I just bought from etrailer was my third one for three different vehicles. This one like the other two was a perfect fit! The wiring harness worked beautifuly as always. I will recommend etrailer.com to everyone. The entire process was great! Thanks, John D. Parker, Hoover, Alabama

I have bought 3 hitches from etrailor for 3 different vehickles and they all fit perfectly and Im very satisfied with etrailers products.

by:
2013 Toyota Corolla

The product is fine. It seems the receiver is slightly too small, or the male end of my adaptor for my bike rack is too large. Either way, it is a very tight fit, and it appears to be the hitch has a receiver slightly smaller than spec. It was relatively easy to install. Overall, I am happy with the product.

The product is working fine, but the adapter is permanently stuck...which is fine for my need, but could be am issue for others

Hitch was excellent. Perfect fit. However Needs to be packed better for shipping. Both ends broke thru the box and the paint was chipped.

You are able to see the crosstube of the Draw-Tite Hitch Receiver, part # 24913, when it's installed on a 2007 Toyota Corolla. I have added a link to the hitch instructions that have a drawing of the bumper fascia in relation to the hitch so you can get a better idea of where the hitch sits. For your 2011 Toyota Corolla, I recommend the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # 24913. This hitch is rated for 200 lbs tongue weight. When using a bike rack, the Class I hitches are recommended to only carry 2 bikes because of the torque the extra weight has on the hitch due to the extension of the weight not simply the weight itself. You will need to use your best judgment, but adding a 3rd bike could void any warranty on the bike rack and...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2016 Toyota Corolla
The best hitch solution for a 2016 Toyota Corolla is the Draw Tite hitch part # 24913 which is a custom fit. The reason this hitch is the best is that unlike the Curt hitch it does not require a stabilizer strap when carrying a non-supported load like a bike rack like the Curt hitch does. I attached an install video which shows the hitch installing on a 2015 Corolla which would represent the same install process as your 2016.

Toyota also does not recommend the installation of a tow hitch or the use of a tow hitch carrier for a wheelchair, scooter, bicycle, etc." With that being said, if you decided to install a trailer hitch like the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 24913 the manufacturer could not void the warranty of the vehicle unless the trailer hitch caused an issue....

The problem is that all of the hitches for your 2017 Toyota Corolla are Class I hitches which have very low capacities and the trike carriers we offer are only a fit for Class II and up hitches due to the capacity required.
