Bike Rack Weight Limit For Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver
Question:
I noticed a two bike limit for a 2011 Toyota Corolla class 1 hitch mount system, and I wonder what the wright limit would be? Wed really like to put three bikes- two adult and one child. Our bikes are pretty light.

For your 2011 Toyota Corolla, I recommend the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # 24913. This hitch is rated for 200 lbs tongue weight. When using a bike rack, the Class I hitches are recommended to only carry 2 bikes because of the torque the extra weight has on the hitch due to the extension of the weight not simply the weight itself. You will need to use your best judgment, but adding a 3rd bike could void any warranty on the bike rack and the hitch.
