Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Still holding strong like new after 1 yr of regular use.

I bought this receiver for my 2015 Mazda3 to use with a bike rack. It works great and was super simple to install. I did it myself in less than an hour.

Bought this in 2021 for my 2016 Mazda3 sedan. Fits like a glove, very easy installation without the need to cut any relief in the rear bumper. The detailed videos provided on etrailer's website do a very good job in explaining the install process. I use it to mount a hitch type bike rack. Would highly recommend this to anyone in the market for a great quality tow hitch. Sits well underneath the rear bumper and does not stick too far out.

With an assist from my 13-year-old son I installed this hitch on our 2015 Mazda 3 with the car backed onto ramps. I didn't clock the time as I used his help as a teaching opportunity. The included guiding wires made the hardware prep very easy. I am estimating if I had a lift available this would have been a 15 minute job.

Strong, no rust after 1 year everything great quality

I didn't have to drop the muffler. This was the easiest install I have done! Used a bucket to hold the hitch and was done in 30 minutes!

by:

I can't submit a photo because I don't have it installed yet, but the Hitch arrived nicely insulated from scratches. It was packed very well. It is black and shiny and you can see that it is sturdy and well made.
Definitely a value when you shop at etrailer!

Nice, strong hitch for a small car. The installer did a wonderful job and it looks great.

2007 Honda CR-V

The hitch came in a big protective box in a very timely manner. My friend bought the same hitch from another online retailer (I think) and his did not have a box, but was plastic-wrapped, which isn't very protective. All the parts were included, though the instructions were very rudimentary, I had watched the video on etrailer.com many times, and installation was a breeze!! I really didn't want to lower the exhaust and happily we did not need to. The hitch nestled in there perfectly! The video made putting in the bolts look simple and like most car endeavors I figured it would take me an hour to do it, but like the video it was remarkably simple!!! I would say that installation took less than the 40 minutes that were predicted and saved hundreds of dollars that a mechanic would charge. The hitch is solid and with the Swagman bike rack, there is no sway in the hitch. I was concerned that my back up camera would be useless and am happy to say that there is no issue.
Strongly Recommend!!

After a year still happy with the hitch and Swagman bike rack!

2014 Mazda 3

I purchased this product about two weeks ago. The reason I got it is to get a trailer hitch bike rack for my sedan.

Things to know about this hitch.
- If you are going to use it with a bike rack this hitch does not require the stabilizing strap which is great

-This hitch does not requires to cut into the bottom of the bumper which was needed with the other hitch for my car.

- It took me about two and half hours to install it, since i did it by my self. The hardest part was to get the hitch in place to bolt it to the frame. The most time consuming part was trying to figure out how to get the first bolt and metal plate in place and once that was done the other 3 went in much faster. Online instructions and the videos that they have helped a lot.

-Be aware of the hitch weight limit of 200LBS which can be a problem if you are planning to carry an Ebike as they tend to be pretty heavy.

-I have a low car and i was worried about ground clearance and it didn't change at all for me. The same goes for the length of the vehicle as the hitch does not extent past the bumper and that lets me keep parking my car in the garage as i was doing before.

The hitch has work better than I thought. I have not had any issues at all and I wish I had done it earlier. The main use is to attached my bike rack to it and it takes me less that ten minutes to get the bike on the car and that includes taking the car out if the garage and installing the bike rack. I can honestly say that I will get one of this things for my next car without doubt I need to add that I have a 2014 Mazda 3 sport. Sedan.

Very easy to install has been secure and out of sight when i don’t have anything attached.

This hitch went onto my car super easily, the included instructions were fantastic, and I've used it to haul all manner of stuff with my little landscape trailer. The included bolt-threading tools and clever way the hitch bolts to the car made the install a piece of cake. I did it myself in my driveway in about an hour.

This little hitch still takes everything Ive thrown at it. Turns my little sedan into a workhorse when I pop the trailer on. Great hitch.

2018 Mazda 3

Works as advertised on my 2018 Mazda3 sedan. Only had it installed a couple days so far. Installation was relatively easy - I did it myself in 1 hr. I ended up coating this with truck bed product by Rustoleum as an added layer of protection before I mounted it. I'm interested to see how it holds up through Midwest winters. I selected this hitch primarily because it was lighter weight than others and was on par with pricing.

Customer service was great. They were very helpful and gave me all the info I needed to pick the right hitch. Shipping was fast. Installation was a breeze (and FAR easier than I anticipated!). This was a no brainer of a deal and I would have no hesitation about ordering from etrailer again or recommending them to anyone.

This trailer hitch worked out fantastic for us on our Mazda 3! It was shipped quickly, the installation instructions were easy to understand, they provided some special tools to make it easier and the installation took me less than an hour. We've used the hitch several times with a bike rack and small utility trailer...works great! We saved over $200 versus the cost of having a local company install a hitch. We also liked that it is pretty well hidden so it doesn't detract from the look of the car.

Build quality looks good. Heavy frame. Holes line up. Easy to install for two people. Sits a little lower than I suspected.

2014 Mazda 3

Installing the Draw-tite hitch on my girlfriend's cute 2014 Mazda 3 was a breeze after studying the videos. No need to remove the muffler or raise up the car at all. After having the mounting bolts in place using the handy wires and resting the hitch on about 8" of wood blocks, my girlfriend helped in keeping the hitch steady while I bolted it onto the car. It took us about 25 minutes in all. Then came the wiring nightmare. The first part involving the connectors to the car's tail lights was fast and simple. The second part which involved sneaking the included power wire out of the trunk, through the car, then through the engine firewall and into the engine compartment was enough to drive a good man bad. Honestly, especially when meaning to only tow a small trailer with about four lights on it, is it really necessary to go directly to the battery as a power source??? And I wasn't about to run the power wire along the underside of the car. Anyway, after spending about an hour trying to figure out how I was going to sneak the supplied power wire through the engine compartment firewall, I got out my drill, picked a drill bit slightly wider that the wire, bore a hole on the driver's side and into the engine compartment, hooked the wire to the battery using the supplied wired fuse, sealed the drilled hole with the supplied black silicone sealant, put the car back together, and finally was done. As I wrote, installing the hitch took 25 minutes to complete. Installing the wiring was a four hour drama I'm so relieved to be done with I'm having a double shot of rum in my rum punch, and after that I'm having another one. I'm giving this four stars because after all that install time the trailer lights work just fine. I just wish the install hadn't wound up being such a nightmare.

One year ago this car hitch arrived and installed without a hitch! As always, a main concern was whether it would really fit our car model, and it did. For ease we had it installed at our local garage, with no problems at all. We pre-placed the bolts thru the holes so the job went quickly at the shop. The hitch is solid, we would definitely order another in the future. Also, we have placed a few orders thru etrailer and every order and product has been prompt and reliable. And we appreciate the 1-year follow-up seeking our opinions. Thank you etrailer.

Draw-Tite receiver hitch installed on a 2017 Mazda 3. To be used only for a platform bike rack. Instillation was very easy, although having another person to assist holding the hitch in place when starting the nuts would be helpful. That being said, it took 20 minutes to install, everything lined up, no need to move the exhaust system or any wiring. Highly recommend this product.

I purchased and installed this hitch for my 2015 Mazda 3 Sedan one year ago. I’ve used it a ton for my bike rack and it has worked flawlessly. Easy to install, sleek, and gets the job done. Highly recommend this hitch.

2014 Mazda 3

Shipped and arrived promply. Installed on my 2014 Mazda 3 Sedan. Had no problem installing without lowering exhaust. Read instructions prior and look under car at attachment location as many times as needed until you have a clear vision of the install. I used a plastic storage container that stood about 8". This allowed me to sit hitch on top and move in position once guide wires and bolts were in position and install without help. Everything went smoothly, finished in about 50 minutes. Excellent product.

by:

I installed this with no adult supervision, it was that easy! It was fairly simple minus the removal of a couple of plastic rivets that were extremely difficult to remove. I am very happy with the hitch and look forward to hauling my bike around without having to take the hubby's truck now!

Mazda

The hitch receiver fit perfectly and was simple to install. Nothing had to be cut or moved on the 2018 Mazda 3 for the receiver to be bolted to the rear frame rails. The only issue was there were a couple of places where there was no paint. The metal was clean and the unpainted part wouldn't be seen. I just sprayed it with some clear I had on hand to keep it from rusting.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2015 Mazda 3 Sedan
As you mentioned, both the Curt Class I # C11377 and the Draw-Tite Class I # 24912 Trailer Hitches are confirmed to fit your 2015 Mazda 3 Sedan Grand Touring. Both hitches will work with all models of the Mazda 3 Sedan, however the Draw-Tite # 24912, as you referenced, is going to be a considerably easier installation process and will take about half the time as the Curt Trailer Hitch. Also keep in mind that per Curt warranty guidelines, all non-trailer loads such as bike racks and cargo...

I can definitely help set you up. You are correct in that the fitment is different for the sedan and hatchback models. For your 2016 Mazda 3 sedan I recommend the Draw Tite Class 1 # 24912. I prefer this hitch over the others we offer mainly because it will be the easiest to install. The other hitches require trimming of the bumper fascia, while the # 24912 will not. This is a standard class 1 hitch rated for towing up to 2,000 lbs. So as long as your trailer and motorcycle weigh 2,000...

If you do decide to tow you need to start with a trailer hitch, either the Draw-Tite # 24912 if your '18 Mazda 3 is a sedan or the Draw-Tite # 24914 if your Mazda is a hatchback; these are the best option because they will be the easiest to install. The other two trailer hitch receivers available, the Curt # C11377 and Draw-Tite # 24912, are Class I receivers with 1-1/4" receivers which really limits the bike racks available as not all 1-1/4" bike racks work with Class I receivers. There are two different Draw-Tite trailer hitches that are designed to fit the 2015 Mazda 3. The difference between the two is in which body style is your Mazda 3. If you have the sedan model with or without LED taillights, then the Draw-Tite # 24912, will be the confirmed hitch to fit. That being said, this is a Class I hitch and is only rated up to 200 pounds of tongue weight.
