2017 Toyota Avalon

Hitch C11427, Installed on 2008 Toyota Avalon, Installed 2017. Hitch Installation time in my garage 5 plus hours. Requirements: Jack up rear end of car so both rear wheels at least 1 inch of ground, Penetrating spray for rusty bolts and potentially rusty bolt holes, angle grinder to remove 2 weld nut/weld nut brackets retaining the old muffler isolator brackets you will no longer need (and are in the way for new hitch) and to smooth out the original weld, pry bar and lubricating spray to pry off muffler isolators, adjustable strap to support and lower exhaust system once you remove all the exhaust isolators, good to have some large diameter washers on hand in the event when bending the muffler shielding you pull through the existing washers.
Hitch fits great, is well constructed, sits tight up against bumper (about same height as tail pipes so shouldn't bottom out any worse than today) and sits back behind bumper about 2 inches so no issues with banging chins when walk around the car. Great Product.

Quality is good. Installation was tight. It is recessed just a bit too much under the car and my bike rack cannot attach without modification. An extension/ball for a trailer no problem. I would chose this brand again.

2006 Toyota Avalon

The trailer hitch for our 2006 Toyota Avalon arrived quickly and was of good quality. Unfortunately, the instructions that came with it were sorely lacking in detail. It said it would take an hour to put on the hitch but took 4 hours and two people to install. A more complete diagram including the underside of the car and what had to be removed in order to install the hitch would have helped. It was difficult to get at to some of the bolts that had to be removed as they were behind or above the muffler. Unless you pay someone who has installed a hitch on this car before, count on it taking quite a long time and lots of skinned knuckles. In its favor, it looks great once we finished.

2011 Toyota Avalon

Excellent item. Not to difficult to install if you take your time. I have to do the install by my self and I'm over 60 years old. Therefore, I use a floor jack to support the hitch. Once installed it looks great and not unsightly... Thank you for making a great product.

I'm very satisfied with the receiver. You can't do better.

  • Recommended Hitch and Bike Rack for a 2007 Toyota Avalon
I would be happy to help you again. The only hitch available for your 2007 Toyota Avalon is going to be the Curt Trailer Hitch item # C94UR. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Toyota with included hardware. This is a class I hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver. It has a 2,000 lbs towing capacity, and a 200 lbs maximum tongue weight. You are going to be extremely limited in options for a bike rack since your hitch is only a class I. The best one is going to be the Thule EasyFold XT Bike...

  • Does the Cut Hitch C11427 Work with the 1up Quick Rack
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11427 is a 1 1/4" receiver tube opening if your 1up has the same shank size it will work out perfectly. The hitch is a Class I so it is limited to transporting up to two bikes at a time. I've linked a video for you to check out of the installation process.

  • How to Install the Curt Stabilization Strap # 18050 to Carry a Bike Rack on a 2005 Toyota Avalon
The stabilization strap in question is # 18050. I have included a helpful link to another question and answer that contains a video that shows how the stabilization strap should be installed. Only the Curt hitch has this requirement, but it is a good idea for any class I or class II application.

  • Highest Capacity Hitch for a 2007 Toyota Avalon
The highest capacity hitch for a 2007 Toyota Avalon is the Curt Trailer Hitch item # C11427. This is a class 1 hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver. It has a 200 lbs maximum tongue weight. I checked with our vendors and no one has any options for a 2" class III hitch with a higher tongue weight rating. I looked online and the 2007 Avalon has a low towing capacity, I highly recommend checking your owner's manual or calling a dealership and giving them your VIN so they can tell you exactly what...

  • Compatibility of Thule OutWay Trunk Mounted Bike Rack with a 2008 Toyota Avalon
Yes, the Thule OutWay 2 Bike Carrier, item # TH45JV, will fit the 2008 Toyota Avalon. Be aware that the bumper cover may deform with the use of this carrier. If you remove carrier when not in use this will greatly reduce the chance of the bumper staying in the deformed position. Another option for your Avalon is a receiver hitch and a hitch mounted bike rack. The Curt Class I Receiver Hitch, item # C11427, will work nicely with a 1-1/4 inch Class I bike rack such as our Thule Camber, item...

On the CURT Class I 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # C11427, for the 2011 Toyota Avalon, the crossbar is under the bumper but underneath the car. The receiver portion is the most visible part of the hitch you will see. I do not have a picture of the CURT hitch on a 2011 Toyota Avalon, but I am including a link to the instructions on the Draw-Tite Class I 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # 24870. • Using 2 Inch Accessories in a Class I Trailer Hitch on a 2008 Toyota Avalon
The available trailer hitch for the 2008 Toyota Avalon is the Curt Class I hitch with 1-1/4 inch receiver: # C11427. Since there are no Class III, 2 inch hitch options available you would need an adapter, # HTAD, to be able to use a 2 inch accessory. However, the use of an adapter will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent. Both hitches mentioned above have a tongue weight capacity of 200 pounds. When using the adapter it will be reduced to 100 pounds....

For lighter duty vehicles like your 2008 Toyota Avalon there are only 1-1/4 inch trailer hitches available like the Curt Class I hitch part # C11427. We do have bike racks that fit this hitch size though like with the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider # HR200Z. I do not have a measurement of the distance from the hitch pin hole to the outside edge of the bumper for the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver with Drawbar - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4 inch, part # 11427, when mounted on a 2006 Toyota Avalon. The measurement from the center of the hitch pin hole of your Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24870 to the outermost edge of the rear bumper on your 2011 Toyota Avalon is right at about 4-1/2 inches (see attached video). Since the Kuat Beta # B202-114 that you referenced measures 7-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the upright bar there will be more than enough room for this bike rack to fit on your Avalon. Since the Beta has anti-sway cradles...

  • Why Does Curt Trailer Hitch for 2008 Toyota Avalon have Higher Towing Capacity than Vehicle
The answer to that is our manufacturers design a hitch to fit the vehicle and then do the best they can to make it as strong as possible and rate it independently from the vehicle. This is why we end up with higher rated hitches like the Curt # C11427 than vehicles they fit like your 2008 Toyota Avalon. You will need to to abide by the lowest rated component in the setup as the overall towing capacity which in your case seems to be the vehicle.

  • How to Transport 400 LB Wheelchair with 2011 Toyota Avalon
The hitch receivers for the 2011 Toyota Avalon are all Class I, like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11427, which have a tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs. Carrying a 400 lb wheelchair would far exceed this capacity and there is an extremely good chance that it would damage the hitch as well as the points on the frame where the hitch connects.
