There are some great options for trailer hitches for your 2006 Toyota Avalon. I recommend the Curt # C11427 as it has an easier install. To install the Curt hitch, the fascia clips will need to be temporarily removed. The Class I hitch with 1-1/4" receiver and has a 2,000 lb gross trailer weight and 200 lb tongue weight capacity.
If you are looking to use your hitch to install a bike rack, I recommend the Thule Camber 2 Bike Rack # TH9058. This bike rack holds up to two bikes and installs easily onto 1-1/4" or 2" hitches. It also features a tilt-away design to allow easy access to your rear cargo.
When carrying a bike or cargo rack with the Curt hitch, you will also use a stabilizer strap like # 18050. This is required by Curt.
