Will the Kuat Beta Bike Rack be Compatible with the Curt Receiver C11427 on a 2011 Toyota Avalon
Question:
Hi Will the yet to be purchased Kuat Beta - Folding 2 Bike Aluminum Rack for 1-1/4inch Trailer Hitches Item # B202-114 working with my already purchased Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver 1-1/4 # C11427 give me enough back end configuration clearance on my 2011 Toyota Avalon? I don’t want my bikes hitting the rear bumper or the trunk of the car. Thank you

Helpful Expert Reply:
The measurement from the center of the hitch pin hole of your Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24870 to the outermost edge of the rear bumper on your 2011 Toyota Avalon is right at about 4-1/2 inches (see attached video). Since the Kuat Beta # B202-114 that you referenced measures 7-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the upright bar there will be more than enough room for this bike rack to fit on your Avalon.
Since the Beta has anti-sway cradles to keep the bikes from contacting the back of your car there really is no need to worry. The only part of your bike that will exhibit movement will be the front wheel if you do not secure it. I have attached a video of the Beta being used on our test course for you to check out.
Since the Beta doesn't come with locks you might be interested in using the Kuat Bike Rack Hitch Lock # HL1 as well as the 10' Long Cable Lock # e98891 to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your hitch receiver. These items will help you deter theft of your equipment.
