This aluminum wheel comes with steel inserts in the lug nut wells. The inserts are pressed into the aluminum, and they help prevent the holes from wearing down over time. This ensures that the wheel stays secured to your trailer hub and that you won't have to constantly retorque the lug nuts.
Determining the Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Lionshead 15 inch by 5 inch black aluminum Lion trailer wheel with the 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now, this is an aluminum wheel, which is very durable, lightweight, and rustproof. It is the Lion Series which you can see is a five-spoke design in the black finish and then it has a machine finish accents on the edge of the spokes and even around the lip here. They do use an automotive-grade clear coat finish on the front to help protect from scuffs and scratches. And they do use the steel inserts in the lug nut wells which help keep the wheel securely in place on the trailer hub, prevents those holes from elongating or wearing down, so eliminates the need for constant re-tightening of your lug nuts.
This wheel does come with a complimentary roadside assistance for two years. Flat tire services available 24/7 anywhere in the US, Canada, or Puerto Rico. As you can see at the bottom here, it does come with a valve stem installed. Now if you notice, it does not come with a center cap. If you do want a center cap, we do sell those separately on our website.

You do wanna make sure to get a center cap that'll have the same diameter as the pilot hole right here 'cause your center cap will install through this pilot hole. Diameter of this pilot hole is 3.19 inches. Now, this wheel does meet the DoT specifications, Department of Transportation, and the SAE J1204 standards. Few measurements on this wheel, The diameter, when you measure the diameter wheel, it's always inside to inside of where the tire beads will seat on the wheel.
So inside the inside, we go straight across, you can see it's gonna be right at 15 inches. The width is gonna be the same way. It's bead seat to bead seat or inside to inside and you can see there's your five inch width. Now the bolt pattern on this is a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. And if you wanna measure that on a wheel that's an odd number of lugs, like in this case five, what you wanna do is pick any one of the holes, let's say this one, and then you're gonna measure across to either one of these holes right across from it.
But when you measure it, it's from the center of the starting hole to the furthest edge of whichever hole you measure to. So on this one, if we measure, it'll be 4-1/2 inches. So that means it's a five lug 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. Does use the wheel lug size of 1/2 inch by 20 and the weight capacity on this wheel is 1,820 pounds. But that should do it for the Lionshead 15 inch by 5 inch black aluminum Lion trailer wheel with the 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern.
