Video Transcript for Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Carrier Wheel Strap Assembly Review

Hi everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today, we'll be taking a look at our replacement strap for our Hollywood Racks bike racks. So, this is gonna fit your Hollywood Racks Destination bike rack just like what we have here. Although, double-check the product page to see the updated list of racks. This is gonna be an exact replacement for these straps that are on your Hollywood Racks bike rack.

So, what tends to happen, especially with the Destination Series is that you use your strap on your rack to secure the mast. Now, if you have this tightened down by a lot and then you get a lot of wear and tear on there, you can bend that strap a bit and possibly break it. Another thing that may happen is maybe you lose the strap or you just cut it up with your bikes. So, when that happens, what you're gonna need is that exact replacement and that's what we'll take a look at. So, then your strap is gonna replace as a set of one strap with four parts.

So, you're gonna have this knob, you're gonna have this strap, you're gonna have this wing nut and bolt, then you're gonna have the rubber cushion. So, then this will all work together to create in a complete system. I'll show you how to take the old one out and put the new one in. You're gonna start by loosening this knob at the end. So, bring it out all the way till it comes out of that bolt, and then you'll be able to take the other strap out and through.

And then on the other side, take the entire system off. So, if you have individual parts that needed replacement, let's say, your bolt was stripped or you wanted a replacement rubber cushion, this comes as a complete set. You can switch them out with the new ones you have, but I recommend just completely replacing the whole thing. So, let's do that. So, assemble everything by putting that rubber cushion on that strap, putting the bolt right inside that bracket.

And then with that setup, you can then put this onto your bike rack. For your Destination racks, you're actually gonna have two holes here, depending on the wheel base of the bike that you're carrying. So, choose the one that fits your bike. So, just do the process I showed you earlier with taking off your strap but in reverse. And you can see how nice and new your new strap system is. If you had multiple straps that you need to replace, do the exact same process and then you're good to go. So, this was a super quick and easy process for replacing the wheel strap assembly on your Hollywood Racks Destination bike racks. Remember to make sure you get the correct part though for your different bike racks. We have a bunch of different replacement parts right here at etrailer. I wanna make sure you get the right one for your needs. This is gonna be really easy to switch around if you have the right one. And this was a look at the Hollywood Racks wheel assembly replacement strap here at etrailer.com..

Very happy with wheel straps (excellent quality).

I think the design is questionable/poor. I am upset with the tire holders sagging on this. Poor design. Bad sag where it is attached. I am going to look into someone welding it. I emailed your team to buy another set of tire holders and no one returned my email. So customer service is so-so to no-no. It is also difficult to store for me when not in use. The straps that held the tires down failed in the first few minutes. I had to buy better straps elsewhere. I actually am looking for another model from another manufacturer. I would not buy that product again. There is way better out there. Way better.
You don't like hearing this, but it is the truth. make changes..

The straps on my folding bike rack from defunct Performance Bikes (Transit Transporter) were getting old, stiff, and brittle. They were about to fail, so I bought these as potential replacements. They fit fine, just a few inches too long. So, I trimmed them with a tin snips.. perfecto. The photo shows the original grey straps, not the new ones which are black. Also, I didn’t need the hardware for anything but the new straps are not available without the hardware. Still a bargain vs losing a bike or putzing with velcro straps.

by:

They worked great for our e-bike rack that we made

by:

The straps are not as long as the ones currently on the bike carrier. Do they come any longer

by:

They need to put the measurements on the picture with parts. I got the wrong size.

That is unfortunate! This strap is intended to be used with the Hollywood Racks Destination bike racks [HR4000 and HR4200. The size will be the same as the original straps.

I bought this bike rack because the last one I bought for my 70 lb ebikes was only gonna get me hurt and the holders on that monorail didn't work well with fendered bikes. Your Destination ebike rack is easier to use and the ramp is great for loading my 20 inch fat tire bikes. I did move 2 of the wheel strap holders but that only required drilling 1 hole each in a preferred spot. The empty rack folds up nice and I appreciate using a regular hitch pin in the 2 inch hitch instead of having to put a bolt through a hole requiring a wrench. The way you designed the connection with a simple lever to tighten the bike rack in the hitch is easy and fast. No bike rack is perfect but yours is pretty darn good. I'm done buying bike racks. Service after buying has been excellent. With a little work I can lower the rack with bikes loaded to get into the rear hatch in my Traverse. Thank you.

Works real good for my step thru bike with the balloon tires. The straps I had was to short.

  • Replacement Strap Pad for Hollywood Racks Destination E Bike Rack
No, I am sorry we do not have replacement strap pads for the Hollywood Racks Destination E Bike Rack item # HLY66ZR you were looking at. I checked with Hollywood racks and they do have it available on their website.

  • Are Longer Straps Available For Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack?
I have a possible solution for you, but the Replacement Wheel Strap Assembly # HR27FR is the only wheel strap for the Hollywood Racks Destination bike rack # HR4000 and # HLY94FR and it is only designed to be used with up to 3" wide tires. And if you happen to be referring to frame straps, there are not any longer straps available for this. If you have wider tires and/or frame then your best bet is something like the Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack for Fat Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # C18085-FB....
