Shock Absorbing Ball Mount/Trailer Ball Recommendation for Pop Up Camper

Question:

I currently tow a heavily customized popup camper that weighs in around 4500 lbs with around 500 lbs TW with a 2011 F250 6.2L. On freeways its a great setup, but on more bumpy roads we get a lot of shock from the camper. I already have air spring helpers on the rear of the truck and shocks on the camper. Im wondering if a cushioned/shock-absorbing ball mount is the way to go here to help reduce the shock further. I currently use a standard 2 ball on a Curt C45250 ball mount so that my tailgate clears the A-frame trailer jack when the truck and trailer are lined up straight. Ive looked through some products on your site and have found something that I think might be useful, but Id like to get an expert opinion/suggestion on what we might try.

Expert Reply:

Curt offers a solution that would provide additional shock absorption to help isolate the tow vehicle from the shock the trailer experiences on bumpy roads, while still allowing you to use your existing # C45250 ball mount.

The Curt # C40047 RockerBall is a 2 inch trailer ball with a 1 inch diameter shank that would be fully compatible with your existing ball mount. The ball has a 7500 lb capacity, so it'll work great with your pop up camper.
