I have two of these. My first I bought two years ago. I very highly recommend this Curt Class III Ballmount 2" Drop because of its price, durability and quality. I towed various class 3 loads with ease and confidence with this ballmount. It slides into the hitch and does its job without fail. It looks excellent after towing a load.

etrailer's price is about as good as it gets and delivery is very speedy.

The Curt Class III Ball Mount with 2 Ball - 2 - 7,500 lbs is a very high quality, very heavy duty piece of towing equipment. I highly recommend it for anyone, professional or home user, for mid-level towing jobs.

Easy install, took around 30 minutes by my self to install. Hardest part of install was torquing the bolts !

The hitch and ball mount are excellent quality. My concerns are twofold. The hitch is so heavy that I had to take it to my mechanic to have it installed. Minor cost and inconvenience, but the hitch for my previous F-150 was just as sturdy, but easy to install myself (albeit with higher ground clearance). My concern about the ball mount is that the factory told me erroneously that it could not be reversed for a drop, so I returned it. This order is for the replacement after I was finally correctly told it could be reversed and how to do that. Ball mount would have been a 3 for that reason, and overall hitch and ball mount quality a 5. So I averaged them.

by:

Ordered this to complete my Curt Receiver Hitch. Not too much to say. It is a new small drop Hitch with a mounted ball and pin. I do like how the ball has machined wrench flats at the base to make removing the ball much easier in the future. As always ensure you insert the new hitch with a good coat of anti-seize!

by:

My OEM Tow Hitch receiver was rusted out and the Ball mount was rusted to it, I had to replace both and the install went smooth. After I installed the Curt Tow Hitch Receiver I slid in the Curt Ball Mount and secured it with the included pin and cotter pin and I was off to the harbor to Launch my Waverunners for a fun filled day.

I'm glad I found etrailer.com for my trailering needs! Just received my ball mount with 2"ball and hitch cover for my 05 Ford F-150 FX4 Supercrew and I was impressed with the solid quality of both my items. Just ordered a hitch lock and I'm sure it will be of excellent quality AS WELL!! Fast shipping and items were packaged really well!!

I highly recommend etrailer for your towing needs!!!!

Hitch for my 2010 Lexus RX450H was very easy to install. I am 72 years old, so it took almost 2 hours of my time to do it. It is a very clean installation and all parts fit perfectly. I used a simple floor jack to lift the hitch into position. The plug and play wiring was a real plus. The connector was where it was promised on the drivers side, under the plastic flaring.

by:

I've made several purchases from e-trailer.com and have had excellent service and quick delivery.

The front hitch was difficult to mount because the straps welded to the 1/2 inch nut weren't quite long enough to catch the thru bolt. I had a fairly hard time lining the nut up but was able to do it.

by:

One word-Perfect! I make all of my purchases online, and using etrailer.com for my recent purchase of a trailer hitch, wiring harness, luggage carrier, and trailer ball were one of the best online purchase experiences yet. The website is awesome, the how to videos are unmatched, and superb cusomer service. Highly recommended! Add all that to great variety of products!

by:

Worked like a charm for its intended purpose. Unfortunately I haven't used it that often because I needed a taller one for what I have been hauling.

by:

The ball was already mounted and came with a strong pin.

Its been a year and Ive used it a lot more than I thought I would and its held up very well. I would definitely recommend etrailer.com if you need a hitch and the wiring. It was very simple to install took a couple hours. The biggest thing is I saved myself probably three to four hundred dollars by doing it myself and have a great product that looks professional on my vehicle.

by:

Thank you George and etrailer. Very fast and timely delivery, only 2 days from ordering!! Product took 1 1/2 hours to install, with the assistance of my 13 year Grandson. We are ready to use the hitch this summer. Future trailer needs will be sought thru etrailer.

Everything OK!

by:

Initially bought the wrong item, customer service was outstanding with helping get through right item and their knowledge was excellent. We were able to ship back the wrong item and received the correct fast. Would highly recommend this company. The ball mount has worked perfectly as well

by:

Incredible price on a great hitch from Curt. I have no idea how etrailer can offer free shipping on something like this, but they do. Awesome. I ordered the ball mount complete with 2" ball and pin/clip which was likewise priced extremely competitively. The hitch bolted up to my Transit T-250 easily. I took the extra step of running a tap into the (4) unthreaded holes on the van, but it's not necessary. For me, it just made the install a little easier and made me feel better. The new Transits are generally lower in the rear vs. the old E series van's, so I flipped the ball mount into the "rise" position to get the right ball height. Stated specs for the ball mount were 2" Drop and 3/4" Rise.

by:

I recently purchased this hitch and related wiring accessories from etrailer for my 05 Hyundai Tucson. Following the included installation instructions I found the hitch easy to install. Total install time including the wiring adapter was approximately 1.5 hours without rushing.

by:

Quality products. The hitch and wiring harness installed easily because of the quality detailed installation videos you provided. I couldn't be happier. I saved $ 300 by doing the installation myself.
I plan on using the hitch for a bicycle rack and to pull a motorcyle trailor. Since I don't have a pickup it is really convenient to be able to tow a utility trailor when needed.
Thanks etrailer! You have a good thing going. Keep up the good work.

I very recently ordered, a Curt class 111 Ball mount with 2" drop- 7500 lbs and an adapter 7 pole to 4 pole with tester and cover, as a first time customer . I was needing to pull my golf cart and trailer to a new home . I chose the 5 to 7 day standard mail delivery. I very quickly received an email from ETrailer customer service Rep. George J. To advise that he was turning my order around quicker with a 3 to 5 day delivery.
This was my first experience with ordering a product from your company and I was extremely impressed with ETrailer outstanding customer service. I mentioned this to a neighbor of mine and He stated to me that he had bought several things from ETrailer and had always had excellent service. Thank You ETrailer and George J. For Your outstanding Customer service.

Great!

by:

My first trailer hitch was delivered bent. Bent in two planes so it couldn't be straightened by me. Mark and Jana arranged to have a replacement sent right away. It arrived and it, too, was bent but only slightly. It straightened easily. Went on as advertised in less than an hour!
I bet that many trailer hitches arrive bent. They are shipped in a plain cardboard box. The long flange is the one that is bent, and typically the box is smashed on one end and the flange sticks out. I don't know ow much you spend on reshipping but I bet a little $$$ spent on better packaging would pay off.
Bottom line for me: the customer service was excellent - couldn't be better.

I couldnt be more pleased with the product!

by:

My first venture into towing trailers and it's been AOK. Your website made it easy to figure out what to order (drawbar and ball hitch thing); the products arrived quickly and in good shape, and I found a local installer who evidently had no trouble with a solid installation (i.e. a good fit). I don't do a lot of towing but happy to have the option to do so now. I'll be back for more stuff, count on it :-)

Who it concerns,

I needed to purchase
a new trailer hitch as one I had rusted and weakened badly. I did shop around, and felt etrailer. com with free shipping included in the total cost was the better value. Received hitch within a reasonable delivery period, and installed the hitch with absolutely no problem, in a very short time, as all nuts and bolts were included with the hitch.
I was, and am very well satisfied with all aspects of my purchase from etrailer.com.

The item to date has performed to my satisfaction, and pleasure.I would not hesitate to purchase the item, from your company, again.

by:

This product may seem trivial as far as a review goes, but it is the main piece for towing besides the trailer hitch itself. Buying it with the ball attached and torqued is the best way to go. Buying separate and trying to tighten to specs is hard to do, so this eliminates the worries of it coming off in a tow down the road.

Ball mount appears as advertised. It fits nicely into my 2" Draw-Tite receiver hitch bought at the same time. When it place, this seems like a good length for my 2010 Honda CR-V.

by:

package arrived on time. the box arrived damaged scratches on paint but I still installed it. installation was easy thanks to you tube. the bracket for the wiring was short for my 2017 Honda pilot. bracket needs to be at least 3 inches longer I have attached some pictures other than that I would have been much happier it will do for now. I Hope this review help for the piloteers.

  • Type of Wrench to Use to Remove Hitch Ball of Curt Ball Mount # C45036
Do you have a really large crescent wrench you could use to grab onto the slotted sides of the hitch ball on the Curt ball mount # C45036? Channel locks would not be my first choice as they also require you to squeeze the handles to hold the ball which will be too difficult. A large crescent wrench or even a really large vice grip might be best way to grab the hitch ball.

I couldn't say what kind of clearance is required for the Toyota factory hitch, but it would pretty easy to take a quick measurement to find out.

  • Can a Ball Mount Rated for 7,500 lbs be Used with a Trailer Hitch Rated for 6,000 lbs
Using a ball mount that has a 7,500 lb Gross Towing Weight (GTW) capacity, like the Curt # C45036, with a trailer hitch that is rated only for 6,000 lbs is definitely okay. For any towing setup you are limited by the lowest rated component. Just knowing the ball mount and trailer hitch capacity tells me that the max you can tow is 6,000 lbs. I bet if you check your owner's manual you will see that your vehicle is actually rated to tow less than 6,000 lbs which means that the weight capacity...

It would provide you with 2 inches of drop for towing your trailer. If you are unsure of how much drop you need you basically will want to go with the drop that will allow your trailer to be towed as level as possible. I attached a help article on this for more info.

I looked though a lot of our 2" ball mounts and most are going to be around 7-1/2" to 8-1/2" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the hitch ball since for the vast majority of applications, you'll need a bit of extension for clearance and the extra extension doesn't really affect much else for those who don't need it. When you measure the trailer you want to measure from the bottom lip of the coupler down to the ground when level. So if you measured from the inside of the ball of your coupler down to the ground most likely you'd need 2 more inches of drop than what you came up with.
