Today we're going to be taking a look at the T-strap hinge for side and rear trailer doors. This strap hinge lets your side or rear trailer door swing open 180 degrees. Nice, easy operation. You can see how easily that hinge rotates there around that pin. Now that's going to be a non-removable pin that provides security. That's a half inch diameter pin.
It's a heavy duty design. It's very strong and durable, and it's a stainless steel construction, so it's going to offer superior corrosion resistance. A few measurements to go over with you real quick, starting with the overall length, measuring edge to edge. It's going to give us a measurement of about 17 and 5/8 of an inch long. When it comes to this bracket right here, or the hinge, that's going to give us a length measurement of 4.5 inches. Measuring from the back of the hinge to the center of that pin area is about 1 and 5/8 of an inch.
The mount holes on the hinge are separated on center by about 3 and one-quarter inches. The strap, I'm going to measure from about the center of the pin to the end of the strap area. That's going to give us a length measurement of 16 inches. The strap width measuring edge to edge going this direction, it's going to measure two inches wide. You'll see that that strap has three mount holes on it.
Those mount holes are going to be separated on center apart from one another by 6 and 7/16 of an inch. That's the distance center on center between the holes. Now this will accept 5/16 inch diameter hardware. These three holes will. Then these two holes will accept 3/8 inch diameter hardware. That's going to do it for today's look at the Polar hardware T-strap hinge.

I brought 2 hinges, 1 one hinge worked fine, the other one did not want to swivel, had to put penetrating oil on it. Then put it in a vise and had to work it back and forth. It’s s little better. Y’all should have checked the hinges before shipping!
