It works perfectly, exactly what I needed !
It allows the doors of the trailer to open far enough that they are flat against the trailer sides. Now we can work on the side of a narrow street without worrying about our doors getting torn off!

Purchased these straps to replace an old broken and rotten wooden roll up door. They have worked great!

by:

  • Lift Assist To Swing Up Ramp Door On 6 X 12 Cargo Trailer
Though we would not have a hinge that would swing the door in the up position you could use The Gorilla-Lift Utility Trailer Tailgate Lift Assist w/ Cable # GL1. This lift assist will allow you to easily lift and lower the ramp on your cargo trailer. It has durable stainless steel cables and has a weight capacity of 300 pounds. It has a fast, easy installation with included hardware. I attached a review video link below.

  • Replacement Hinges for 5 x 10 Enclosed Trailer
For replacement hinges we have a few options depending on the material and rotation you are looking for. For example, the Square Corner T-Strap Hinge w/ Reverse Bracket # PLR2216-SSP is stainless steel and rotates 270 degrees. There are some other 180 degree options and aluminum construction as well. The same holds true for the 12" long hinges like the Square Corner Hinge with Reverse Bracket - Polished Stainless Steel - 12" # PLR2212-SSP. I have attached two different links below for...

  • Polar Hinge for 90 Degree Corner Compatibility
The T-Strap Hinge for Side and Rear Trailer Doors - 8" Long - Steel # PLR3408 will not be ideal for a 90 degree corner as you can see the purposeful bend at the hinge on the strap end of the hinge that would limit this. A better option for that application is the T-Strap Hinge for Rear Trailer Doors - 12-3/8" Long - Steel # PLR4040, the Square Corner Hinge with Reverse Bracket - Polished Stainless Steel - 12" # PLR2212-SSP, or the Over the Seal Hinge - Narrow Bracket - Aluminum - 12" #...

  • Is a 90 Degree Hinge Rotation on a T-Strap Hinge Normal on a Trailer
The hinge rotation is going to depend on the design of the T-strap hinge. For example, the Square Corner T-Strap Hinge w/ Reverse Bracket # PLR4040 is capable of a 270 degree rotation based on its design. The # PLR3408 only allows for 180 degrees of rotation. Unless something else is blocking them or limiting the movement, it is likely that 90 degrees is the limit of the hinges you currently have. I have attached a link to all of our available T-strap hinges if you would like to try to...

  • Do Polar T-Strap Hinges # PLR4040 Have Weight Capacities
We've checked with Polar in the past about whether the T-strap hinges like the 12-3/8 inch # PLR4040 have weight capacities and they've stated that they do not rate them for weight as the mounting hardware would be the limiting factory. That said, as long as you are using this in a "reasonable" application you can use your best judgment whether these would be rated high enough or not.

  • Weight Capacity for Polar T-Strap Hinge # PLR4040
According to our contact at Polar Hardware their T-strap hinges like the 12-3/8 inch # PLR4040 that you referenced don't have a specific weight capacity. Your limiting factor is really going to be the hardware that is used to mount the hinge and not the hinge itself. If you are simply replacing existing hinges on a trailer you will just want to use the same number of hinges that you currently have.

  • Replacement Strap Hinge for Enclosed Cargo Trailer
It looks like the closest thing that we have to that design is the Square Corner T-Strap Hinge w/ Reverse Bracket # PLR4040, but if that doesn't work we do have a wide variety of other hinge straps that may work for your application like the part # PLR2216. I have attached a link to our selection of replacement strap hinges for you to check out.

  • Determining Replacement 270 Degree Door Hinges For 2004 Trailet Two Horse Trailer
Thank you for the pictures! I may have an option for you, but none of the hinges we offer have mounting brackets that are 5" tall.. The most likely option we have is the # PLR4040 which opens 270 degrees. The mounting bracket on the # PLR4040 measures 3-7/16" long x 4-1/2" tall. From the top mounting hole to the bottom mounting hole is 3", from the left mounting hole to right mounting hole is 1-1/4", and on the strap the mounting holes are 5" apart. To confirm if this hinge will work...
