Clamp these sturdy steel wheels onto the square crossbar of your low-profile RV's rear hitch to help prevent tail dragging when backing up. Protect your undercarriage from unnecessary damage. This review will only be helpful for those who are looking for a fantastic solution for a utility trailer. My 2019 Lamar, 14' long with 2' dovetail and 32" ramp gate utility trailer connected to my 2018 F-150 I bought new in February could not clear my mother's steep driveway without using long 2" x 6' boards for the wheels of the trailer which were a pain to carry around and a lot of unnecessary work. Finding these casters were the answer to my problem as the attached photos will prove. I did have to spend an additional money to make them work (2 - 4" PVC drains for the top ([Local hardware store]), 8 - 6" x 3/8 grade 8 bolts and 2 - 1/8" thick washers from [Local hardware store] and I cut two pieces off a 2 x 4 - 4" long each. Yesterday I loaded the trailer with about 1000 lbs. and the casters worked perfectly! I'm storing the trailer in my mother's garage while I'm moving her out of her house so I needed the casters for storing and moving. I'll add more photos when the trailer is completely loaded so you can see for yourself. I'm hoping the search engines pick up the keywords in this review so others in my position can find a solution that works and is worth every penny spent. Every other set of casters I looked for in the usual places look so inferior and I believe would crumble under the weight. These casters held the trailer with 1000 lbs on it like it was nothing. Fantastic quality in a great package and they don't swivel which was important for my application. Even if this review only helps one person it was worth writing (hopefully it helps many more)!
I bought these for my Cougar 29RLI and they disintegrated the first time I used them. I did use the bearings & sleeves and made my own wheels out of 4140 steel with Delrin on the outside diameter. after 5 trips no failure.
I received the skid wheels in a timely manner. Installation was simple and trouble free, the skid wheels are as advertised. I have a steep, downhill driveway that flattens out to a parking area. The hitch on my motorhome will scrape every time if I don't use some sort of portable blocking or ramp to roll over and lift the rear end. Now with the skid wheels installed, I just back down the driveway and into my parking area. No scraping on the concrete, it just rolls right into place. Problem solved!
I purchased these wheels with the hope of assisting my 24' RV to make it up my pretty steep driveway. Before the wheels, my trailer hitch would bottom out and be digging into the asphalt of the street just as I was starting to go up my driveway. Now with the wheels, I'm able to get the lift of the hitch I need to make it up. I can now park in my driveway and off the street. Very happy with them so far!
Not that thrilled with this kit.
Pros:
Heavy construction seems well suited to the task
Cons:
No instructions - not a major deal breaker but always a nice touch
Bolts were too long and threading too short - I had to buy some lockwashers to add to the height
Too sloppy so I cut some wood to fill most of the gap plus it helped square it up.
Overall, it looks like it will do the job but spent WAY too much time installing this kit
Great experience from checkout to installation. They quickly provided me with shipping and tracking info. Package was double boxed and arrived on time as promised.
Ended up using item: UF48-979015 on a boat trailer and not an RV. Should do the trick!
Would purchase again.
Zerk fitting broke off before I got the Class C out the driveway!! Will have to easy-out and replace the fitting. Otherwise, installation was easy. It performs really well on my 28ft RV.
The order arrived quickly, went on the trailer easily.
After 1 year they are holding up well!
The install was easy. The idea was good but my fifth wheel was too heavy for these. I needed them due to my driveway being sloped and rear of fifth wheel would drag when I backed in or pulled out. Went on first trip and when I arrived at camp site found the wheels were ground away. Only thing left were the mounts and the little axles. First trip destroyed them. My fifth wheel is a 43 foot Jayco dual axle with a factory installed trailer hitch in the rear.

These particular skid wheels work best for RVs 30 feet in length or shorter. For a longer fifth wheel such as yours, Id recommend going with steel wheels such as whats used with part # UF48-979017. This item would mount to the crossbar of your hitch, and would fit crossbars up to 2-12 inches square.

These skid wheels worked perfect on my 19 foot boat trailer. I no longer have to worry about only having 1/2 inch clearance coming down private road to public srreet. Placed they hit pavement and keep back end from dragging, no more carrying replacement tail lights for me....... thank god!
Highly recommend these wheeled, easy to install and seem to work well.

A year later and still going strong. Show almost no signs of being deagged 5 to10 feet on pavement amd concrete basically 2 times a week as we leave drive. They are great product. Love the fact i dont have to touch up trailer paint monthly now and havent scraped a trailer light since install.
Just received my Ultra- fab skid wheels. I was unable to grease the bearings because the fittings are too close to the wheel flange preventing the grease gun nozzle from connecting properly. I cut a radius in the wheel flange and was then able to connect the gun.
I find it hard to believe that this product could have gone thru any inspection process - which is probably typical of many products from a certain country.

I did reach out to the manufacturer who agreed that it is a tight fit and if the grease fitting is not perfectly placed in the wheel then it will be difficult to use the grease gun. You can doing a little grinding to make room for the grease gun.
Product was just what I expected it to be. Works great on my low profile/drop axle trailer, keeping the tail from dragging when backing into my driveway.

Great product, well built, holding up very well after one year of use.
Well I put them on and they worked like they were supposed to. They only had to roll 10 feet. the 2nd time out, the internal structure that holds the outer wheel to the hub, completely broke away, leaving the outer wheel free floating. So a complete fail in my book. I had to take them off and ship them back. The things are not light so that cost was high. then I had to wait like 4 weeks to get a new set. I have not put on the new set yet, but I hope this was a one time product flaw. Time will tell.

I also hope your warranty replacement will work out better for you. Keep in mind that these skid wheels are not designed for use on motorhomes over 30 feet long or on diesel-pusher motorhomes due to the extra force that would be put on the wheels.
I have had the skid wheels on my 25 foot Class C motor home for about one year now. My driveway has a very steep incline and the rear end of my rig would scrap along the driveway as I backed up. I purchased and installed the skid wheels to avoid the rear of my rig from scraping the asphalt. They worked as intended. However, a few months after installing them one of them broke (it may have been my fault). The wheel detached from the brace and now floats freely. I continued to use the broken skid wheel along with the one that did not break. Even broken, it stops the rig from scraping the driveway. I would have given four stars had it not broken.
After not even a year one skid wheel broke. Evidently the hub is the weak link. Called etrailer to see if there was any warranty or something they could do about it and was told NO. I had to buy a complete new set just to replace one wheel. All I needed was the wheel, the bracket was still good. We will see how long the new one will last.
Problem is that the wheels will break when they get a little sideways motion when your RV bottoms out and you are turning the steering wheels. Looks like the wheels with swivals are needed
Great idea, but we have already had one customer return with broken wheel. The wheel is under warranty, but not the labor and shipping.
Many companies now offer the option of sending a picture of the damaged product and just replacing that one part...
I recommend these skid wheels. They have been in use for a year now and have held up well. The trailer is used about every three weeks and so the wheels contact concrete twice for each use. That totals about 35 times in the last year.
These skid wheels seem to be a solid product and I am confident they will do the job. Frankly it would be fine with me if they never hit the ground but they seem good insurance in case. Mounting was easy, I am a good mechanic. They do measure 4.75” from the bottom of the hitch which should work for my rig.
Used them for back bumper, anti skid for 5th wheel trailer. They work great for saving bumper on shallow depressions.
The skid wheels look pretty strong. Well built and I feel confident they will save the rear end of my 5th wheel from getting scraped up. My 5th wheel has 2 scrapes previous to installing the skid wheels but not any more.
Did not really get a chance to use them since they did not fit my RV however, they were very solid and all the hardware appeared to be heavy duty.
Customer service was exceptional. Excellent communication.
So thankful for this product! No more scraping the driveway! We just ease out onto the road and GO!
Having received the rollers friday night, I planned to install them yesterday. I figured an hour at the most. Wrong. I had to drive 15 miles back home to make up spacers because the bolts are too long. Two hours later I had them installed. Have no idea if they work. Will find out this week.
The wheels do what they were intended to do. Very heavy duty, very expensive.
Some of the holes didn't align and had to be forced but the wheels still rolled freely.

After a year I can say that these wheels are still worth every penny! Sometimes I forget theyre even installed until someone says how can you back up your trailer when all four tires are off the ground?. I understand that my application is NOT what these were designed for but as I stated a year ago if this helps even one person it was worth the time to write a review.
