Video Transcript for LubriMatic Tools - Grease and Lubricants - L30416 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the LubriMatic professional pistol grease gun. This grease gun applies grease under pressure to moving parts that need periodic lubrication. This is ideal for home, farm, marine, recreation and automotive applications. It does feature a variable stroke design for use in tight places. And what that means is that this handle does not have to be fully open for you to pump grease. So if you're in an area where you can't open the handle all the way and you can only pump let's say like this far.

It's still going to allow you to pump and apply a grease. It features three way loading, so you're going to be able to use a traditional 14 ounce cartridge and with this unit you can also bulk load and suction load. Includes the air bleeder valve, which is this valve right here. And the bulk loader fitting as well.On this end it features the pause and lock plunger for easy loading. So what you would do to move it to the locked position, you'll see how it has this little cutout here. So you pull the plunger all the way out, and then you move the rod over to that position and it holds it and locks it in place.

Now internally it features a heavy duty spring and plunger for an airtight seal. It's made from a very strong and durable construction with a black enamel finish to resist rust and corrosion. It develops up to 7,000 psi and delivers one ounce per 40 strokes. It does come with the 18 inch flex hose, that we can easily get your grease where you need it. Also has an end cap on here, so that way it doesn't leak and make a mess when you're done using it. And over here it's got a really nice comfortable handle.

It's got this vinyl wrap on it which allows for a really nice comfortable design and ease of use.Now when you're ready to load a traditional 14 ounce cartridge, you'll need to unscrew the head from the barrel and then you'll need to pull back the rod handle and move it over into that locked position. Then what you would do is you would take your cartridge and insert the cartridge into the barrel again with this head cap removed. Then you would push that in until the rim on the pull tab ends contacts the rim on the barrel and then remove the pull tab seal from the end of the grease cartridge. Then you would re-install the head cap to the barrel, push the rod back into the barrel. As it does this it's really pushing out any trapped air that's inside and then you can go ahead and start pumping until grease flows from the fitting.

That's going to do it for today's look at the LubriMatic professional pistol grease gun.

Purchased this grease gun to have all new from hubs through grease and a specific gun for the new Bearing Buddy purchased.

The Good - Easy to load, easy to operate

The Bad - I installed a new set of Bearing Buddy's and the first one I plugged this into and greased, upon removing it came out hard which also pulled the zerks out of the Bearing Buddy. I could not remove the zerks so I unscrewed the end of the gun nozzle, there are small parts in there, This went from bad to worse.

Bottom line, the grease gun loaded with grease is going back. Luckily etrailer is good about this and sending a return tag. Bearing Buddy is also going back.

I cannot recommend this unit at all. May have been a bad unit but I see another with the same issue so I am thinking this is a design issue.

This was returned. Very poor quality. Could not get the nipple to release from the bearing buddy and broke the zirc fitting off. Was a total disaster. Dont recommend.

After reading the instructions and putting it together, I have had no issues with it. It is my first use on my fifth wheel hitch, but I had no problems with air in the gun, seals, durability, or operation so far. I was a tad concerned after reading some of the reviews, but for now have not experienced any of those issues.

Still in great condition and will serve me well for years.

by:

I like the one handed operation of the pump.

by:

Use it on my boat and trailers to keep them running great, specially the tandem trailers with grease fittings on the hard to reach links behind the tires and wheels. The pump has good pressure and it's well built.

by:

Bought this grease gun based on etrailer's recommendation. I already own a Lubrimatic mini grease gun that has served me for years and expect this larger model will do the same. It is built solid and is heavy duty. Can't wait to use it on my campers EZ Lube hubs this weekend. The 14 oz cartridge capacity gives you a much wider selection of grease to choose from. Purchasing from etrailer gives you assurance from their experienced staff that will help you select the right item.

by:

The grease gun works well except the fitting on the grease gun flex hose that attaches to the grease zirc fitting on the plastic bearing buddy type axle greaser was so tight I couldn't remove it from the zirc fitting after greasing with it. I finally had to pull and bend so hard it actually pulled the zirc fitting out of the bearing buddy thus ruining it. That was aggravating as now it has to be replaced. As I said, it was a plastic bearing buddy and probably not great quality but no other grease gun fitting has had that problem.

by:

This is a great grease gun. Much higher quality than cheaper ones I've used previously. Should get the job done for many years to come.

by:

Failed after dispensing 1/4 of the tube of grease. Not worth the premium for a "professional" grease gun

by:

Product was what I expected. When using I always had trouble getting it to disconnect from my axle. I had to take the end apart to relieve the pressure each time I used it.

by:

The parts were delivered on time and accurate. I will definitely use etrailer for any of my trailer needs.

by:

Excellent product! I am glad I paid a little more and did not go with a cheap solution. My review is based on 2yrs experience with this tool.

by:

Worked as advertised! No issues and was very intuitive for a first-time-user!

by:

It still works and because of that 5 stars!

by:

Precisely as advertised, heavy duty and delivery was as promised.

by:

Looks like a great, well built piece.
Will
be able to use it in a week or so.

by:

Great product, what can i say, i got just what i wanted.

by:

Works great. Clean to load and operate.

by:

Heavy duty, well made, should last for years

by:

by:

Product received a day early and service was great. Most certainly would order again

by:

by:

Does what is advertised and at a good price

Goos job

Please keep in mind certain grease formulas do not play well together so will want to make sure to thoroughly clean off any grease remaining on your Atwood jack before applying the LubriMatic # L11390. The grease gun part # L30416 is going to be a great option for a gun. This is the nicest one we offer and the price isn't terrible so it would be the one I would recommend. According to Husky, you will need to grease all moving parts, except the head plate, with a white lithium based grease like # L11354. If you need a grease gun, I recommend # L30416. The gun uses the 14 ounce grease cartridges and has a flexible nozzle to get to hard to reach areas.

  • Do Trailer Bearings Need to be Cleaned When Re-packing
I would remove the hubs and clean the bearings and the inside of the hubs. Just adding grease will allow any impurities that have entered the hub to remain in there with your bearings. Water, sand, salt and other road grime inevitably work their way into the bearings and will eventually cause damage if the bearings are not cleaned. You also get the added benefit of being able to inspect the bearings, races, hubs and brakes for wear or damage. Knowing that your trailer is in good shape...
