What is Needed to Re-Pack Trailer Bearings With EZ-Lube or Posi-Lube Axle
Question:
I have a Rockwell American posi-lube axle on a utility trailer. Do I need to manually repack the bearings each year or can I just put a grease gun on the grease zerk and pump until the old grease starts coming out?

Helpful Expert Reply:
With an EZ-Lube or Posi-Lube axle, you do not have to take apart the hubs to re-pack the bearings.
You are absolutely correct that all you need to do is use the grease zerk and add LubriMatic LMX Industrial Strength Grease # L11390 or LubriMatic Wheel Bearing Grease # L11465 with Grease Gun # L30200, # L30416, or # L30480.
That said, it is still a good idea to disassemble the hub and manually inspect the bearings on occasion just to be sure everything is in good working order.
