Distance Between Hitch Pin Hole and Rear Bumper When # C13052 is Installed on 2011 Land Rover LR2

Question:

hello, i plan to purchase the referenced hitch from you for my LR2 and also want to buy a folding cargo basket, but am not sure I will be able to fold it up. Can you tell me what the dimension is from the center of the pin to the rear face of the bumper? Thank you.

When we do an install video, we will typically get the measurement you are looking for. Unfortunately, we have not yet had the opportunity to install a hitch on a 2011 Land Rover LR2.

With high hopes I called Curt hoping that they would be able to provide that dimension, but they do not measure that dimension during their test fits.

This being said, Curt was able to provide me with some dimensions that we can use to approximate the distance. All is not lost if you are willing to crawl under the rear of your LR2 and take some measurements.

On the drivers side frame rail, locate the weld nut used to attach the hitch to the frame. There should be two of them, you will want the one closest to the rear bumper. If you measure rearward toward the bumper 6-3/4 inches, you will have a very close approximation of where the hitch pin hole will be located. You could measure the distance back, and use a string taped to the underside of the vehicle to represent the plane of the hitch pin hole. If you stretch this string across to the other side of the vehicle, keeping it square to the rear bumper you will have a pretty good starting point from which you can measure rearward to determine what the distance between the hitch pin hole and the rear most portion of the rear bumper would be once the hitch is installed.

I have edited a photo that might explain the process better for you.

Once you know the approximate hitch pin hole to bumper measurement, you can choose the folding carrier that will fit, if one is available. I have linked you to our selection of folding carriers. The product description for each carrier will list the clearance needed to fold the carrier. The Draw-Tite Folding Cargo Carrier, part # 6502 offers the most clearance between the hitch pin hole and the closest portion of the carrier when folded, at 7-1/2 inches.

The best and most sure method for determining the clearance you will have would be to install the hitch first, confirm the clearance, and then order your carrier. The procedure I outlined above will get you close, but it might not be exact.
